Poor Kitty Kitty

Poor Pischina-Kitty, her life really is a living hell for her right now. She can't really eat with the cone on so I take it off of her twice a day and she gulps down as much food and water as she can. She doesn't seem to mind her medicine drops, so she's much better in that department than Phoebe-kitty is. But the cone is driving her insane. I mean, I think she may really be insane by the end of the two weeks. To her little walnut brain, it's like there are invisible walls all over her world that she keeps bumping into. She keeps putting her head low to the ground as she walks, I think to try to go under the invisible walls she keeps hitting, but then the cone just hits the carpet or ground, which makes her feel like her world is even smaller. Talk about claustrophobia! Poor kitty...

But the worst part is that no one has any sympathy for her. Phoebe-kitty is so fluffy and lovable, when she was sick everyone was worried about her and gave her lots of love. Pischina-kitty is as cranky and antisocial as her owner (me) so seeing her trying to deal with kitty-life while wearing a cone around her neck just makes everyone laugh. Or as Buffy put it: "That's what you get."

Poor kitty.

But still. She IS hilarious.

*SNORK*!!

Funniest thing EVER. Everyone should have a cone for their cats.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

There is not much funnier in this world than watching a cat with a cone around its neck.

I'll get a picture posted this afternoon, but you really need to see video.

Pischina-kitty had the infection lanced and she is mad at the world right now - which is usual for her anyway, heh. She has this clear plastic cone around her neck and is spending her time looking very angry and walking backwards through the entire house. HEEEEEEE it is Hilarious.

But it's not like she's dieing, she's going to be just fine, so I gave her her antibiotics and came to work. She is one unhappy kitty right now though.

Feline Sibling rivalry

Pischina-kitty does not want to be outdone in the attention department, so she is going to the vet today too.
When I came home Sunday I saw she had a scratch on her chin. Yesterday it started to look swollen, and by last night she had a giant cyst under her chin. Today she is very cranky and you can tell it hurts her. So off to the vet we go.

The vet may be surprised though that this kitty is not as friendly as Phoebe-kitty. Phoebe is loveable. Pischina only loves me. She is pretty scared of everyone else.

Wherefore art thou?

Also, I haven't seen Phoebe-kitty since I left to Aptos on Friday. I hope she comes home soon.

Phoebe Update

Phoebe is still taking babysteps to recovery, but if you met her today you'd never know something was ever wrong - except for the various shaved areas on her body. She's getting fatter, she is jumping higher and higher. She is eating a lot and is getting much fatter and is strong enough that it is a PAIN IN THE ARSE trying to get her medicine down her throat.

In fact, the only things I can think of that she isn't doing are jumping as high as the counters (she can get up on chairs with no problem though) and I haven't seen her climb the fence or a tree.

She did decide to go visiting for the first time today. She was gone for most of this afternoon. Came dawdling back around 7pm and promptly was swooped up and wrapped in the blanket for her dose of medicine. She promptly left again - she gets so pissed at us!!!

Whatever was wrong with her, stroke or whatever, I feel confident finally that she is better. The money I put in for her paid off, and so did the 24 hour care and worry.

Yay!

Phoebe - Monday morning

She is doing fine this morning. She still shakes like she has Parkinson's. I tried to get her cortisone pill into her by coating it in butter per the vet's suggestion. A spoonful of butter later I gave up and crushed it into her food again while she licked all the grease off her mouth. So I locked her in my room for the morning with her bowl of medicine/food so Pischina-kitty doesn't eat it for her. My room is the coolest in the house and has a big slider. I opened it and put the screen across - hopefully she doesn't push it out again, but I don't think she can climb the fence. Anyway, she has a very nice big cool room to hang out in until I get home.

Phoebe - 6:30pm

I'm not really sure if Phoebe is just holding at 80% or if she went backwards a little. I think she's just holding. There's not any new stuff here to sniff out of course, so she doesn't walk around as much, she is sleeping a lot, but worse is that she is peeing as soon as she wakes up again. She cannot seem to get herself together to go in the litter box and it's making me crazy. At least most of the pee is on the tile so I can easily clean it, but some of it is getting on the carpet. Today it has a much stronger urine-y smell too, not like cat piss, more like people pee, but still... yeah, that's gross. And I think she is shaking more, but I'm not sure about that. But she's still eating, so I'm just concentrating on fattening her up as quickly as possible so she can get the stones fixed and hopefully finish whatever other healing in her brain needs to be done.

Phoebe - Sunday morning

She is now at about 80-90%. She had a great time in Aptos and did not spend much time in her pen unless we weren't home. She slowly walked all over Scott's house and I think the new environment really sparked her curiosity. She was very determined to get around and look at everything.

Saturday afternoon I was letting her try to walk on their balcony (runs the entire perimeter of the house) and Toby the big mean Siamese cat came to take a look. At this point Phoebe could only take a few steps at a time and was reeeeeeeeallllllly wobbly on her feet. Toby came by to take a look and kind of hissed at her. She stood her ground and hissed back. Toby looked like he might come closer to get a good sniff, and Phoebe stood there, used all the concentration she could, put as much fire into her eyes as she could muster, and with every ounce of energy she could pull out - she lunged at him with a big hiss. She kind of fell down on her stomach but managed to stay balanced on all four feet, Toby turned tail and took off down the balcony like a rabid lion was after him. Which is kind of what she looked like, heh.

Anyway, I think that gave her a lot of confidence and made her feel like a bad-ass again. After that she improved at the highest rate of speed. She managed to climb up onto the couch, though she has trouble getting down. Her attempt to jump onto the coffee table didn't go too well. But overall, she is doing pretty darn good.

She's eating her food and her medicine and really has no need for the pen any more. I'm going to have to keep her locked in the house this week so she doesn't try to jump the fence again, and she certainly isn't well enough to cross the street yet, no matter what she thinks.

I am really really happy she is better, but afraid to feel all the relief yet. We've done this before. She wasn't being treated with cortisone before, so hopefully this will finish making her better. The last month it's been five days sick, three days improvement, five days sick, three days improvement. We are on our third day better again now. If she can manage to stay well for a week or two, then I'll exhale.

But really, thank you all so much for your concern. She is back to her fluffy little self, and though she's back to being stubborn and wanting to do what she wants to do, she also wants to spend much more time on our laps and getting scratches and pets. I hope she stays well and lives the long life she deserves. She and Pischina-kitty are curled up in balls next to each other taking naps. I do hope she is better now.

Phoebe - Saturday morning

She had a quiet night last night and slept until around 7:30am. She ate another half can of cat food and stood up while doing it - she wobbled all over while she ate, but she was still standing. I'm going to let her try to walk around more often so she can exercise her muscles. Right now she's napping.

I'm going to take a shower then hold her on my lap while I have her bedding in the wash. Then we'll make the drive to Aptos. So you won't hear again until Sunday afternoon. But for now, she's quiet but doing fine. Thanks to everyone for all your well wishes and concern.

Posted by Pischina at 8:47 AM | Comments (1)

Phoebe = 10:30pm

She got her nice warm bath - she wasn't too happy with it, but for a few seconds her brain clicked back into place and all four feet worked just fine as she tried to climb over my shoulder and down my back. It was pretty cool actually, because the feet were definitely working in sync - hopefully her brain can figure that out again. But mostly she sat still for it.

Re: a butt shave... The vet shaved her butt a week or two ago because it was coated with poop and urine - the problem now is that she can't climb out of the litter box without rolling in the poo when she's done. And her long hair just picks it all up. Shaving ALL of her sure would help though. But I've been pretty quick since that first disaster and we'll just deal with it as it comes.

After her bath I wrapped her in a clean towel and she sat on my lap and slept while I watched the Paris Hilton hoopla. Now I'm tired and we have a long day tomorrow, so she's back in her house eating again, and hopefully she'll doze off for the night after that.

I may have to brush her in the morning though, because her hair is a mess after that bath, heh.

It's like taking care of a sick baby, heh. Hopefully this baby gets better and relearns what she has to do.

Posted by Pischina at 10:22 PM | Comments (1)

Phoebe - 7:30pm

She still seems pretty comfortable in the house. However she's been making a mess in the litter box. It's going to be a lot of work until she can control herself just a tiny bit better. Her stools are really loose, so since she can't control her legs that well she tries to kick sand over the pile(pool) and then tries to get out of the box, but really she just gets it all over herself.
*sighhhhhhhhhh*
And then all over her house.

I am washing a bunch of towels right now, and as soon as they are dry she's going to get a bath in the sink. Then I'll throw the bedding from the house into the washer while I keep her wrapped in the towels. And hopefully in the morning she'll still be clean enough to go to Aptos without another bath. At the moment she mostly just has litter sand all over herself, I've been trying to catch her as soon as she poops so I can get her out quickly.

Otherwise she is still eating a lot, and it's special weight gain food so hopefully she'll have gained a lot by Monday. And hopefully she can walk a little better.

Posted by Pischina at 7:43 PM | Comments (2)

Phoebe = 10:30am

Okay, vet still convinced she had a stroke or something in her brain, and she's going to continue with her cortisone, but in pill form now. She said all we can do is hope she continues to get better, but that she is really encouraged by what she saw today. Phoebe got the IV taken out of her arm and sent home with her pills and more cat food cans.

I took her to the pet store where we bought a giant dog kennel. And a little litter box and food dishes and a toy mouse. The kennel even has a lambs wool floor. She is going to live in this kennel until she can walk again, because I can't keep track of where she falls and I have work to do. But now, at least I can go to the office to get work done!!! She can stay in that house for four hours a day by herself. She has been using the litter box a lot, and eating a lot of food - the vet said let her eat as much as she wants. She gained 3 ounces since yesterday, which means she weighs a whopping 4 pounds 8 ounces. (Pischina-kitty probably weighs about 20 pounds now).

I have decided to go to Aptos afterall, but I won't leave until tomorrow morning, in case Phoebe gets worse. But if she's better, she'll get packed up with me along with her house, and off we'll go. She can sit in her house in Aptos with me.

Update: She put a nice poop in the litter box and I was going to get it out, but I decided to type all that up first. Meanwhile she decided to take a nap in the litter box, getting the soft poop all over her long hair, and then walked out onto the lambs wool. I just finished cleaning up a very bad mess. That will teach me. When she poops, get it out right away. Jeeesh.

Phoebe = Friday morning

Today Phoebe is a pain in my arse. She woke up at 3:30am and wanted out of her carrier so I had to sleep with my hand hanging over my bed and into her box. After a while she didn't care about my hand and kept trying to get out again so I had to just put the lid on and tell her "Good night, go to sleep".

This morning she is bright eyed and awake. She is finishing up her cat food right now. She also has no intention of staying in the box. The problem is that she still can't walk. So if I let her try she stumbles and falls and even actually flips herself upside down. It's like walking on four legs where one leg is numb, one is a wooden stilt that is too long, one has a spring in it, and the other wants to run. I mean - it's quite a sight.

We leave for the vet in a few minutes. I have a lot of questions. Like what do we do if she stays awake and well-looking like this but can't ever walk right. Or what if she gets all the way better over the weekend and then gets sick AGAIN. So... we'll see. I guess she is walking better than a few days ago, even when she was on my lap last night she couldn't walk at all, so I guess she's improving. You wouldn't know it if you saw her though, hahah.

So as of 8am: Seems to be well and strong and awake, just has little control over her legs.

The Vet has better hopes

My visit to Phoebe
I went to the vet after work today just to hold Phoebe for awhile, thinking I may not get a chance to for much longer. The nurse handed me a bowl of food and said to try to get her to eat. Well, she ate the whole entire thing! The doctor came in and was SO EXCITED. She said maybe they should send her home afterall. So she came home with me.

Going downhill
Where she lay on a towel on my lap from 3pm to 7:30, urinating all over both of us but not moving an inch. In fact, I was pretty sure Phoebe was going to be put down tomorrow morning. She just lay there on my lap like a limp rag.

Looking up
Then her teenage visitors came over. And Phoebe started perking up. She kept squirming so I kept putting her in the litter box, but she was pretty limp and just lay there. But one time I set her on the floor and she pulled herself up and tried to walk. She has maybe 10% control of her limbs so she leaned against a footstool while she walked and then toppled over. I thought maybe she wanted her kitty bed so I brought her to my room, set her in the bed, and ran out to get my book. When I ran back she was on the floor toppled over again. Finally I figured maybe she wanted more food, so I got another can out and she started lapping it up again (with Pischina-kitty standing ready for the leftovers).

The vet calls
The vet called then, from her home. She was amazed that Phoebe was eating, and said it was a wonderful sign. She said if Phoebe is eating, that means she is trying, and then we should try too. I told her Phoebe was trying to sneak around and she said that was another good sign and that I should keep her in the carrier box so she doesn't hurt herself.

A stroke?
She thinks maybe Phoebe had a stroke. I think that that may be the case. She's not sure, she is just running out of ideas. She called me from home because she is so perplexed about Phoebe and wants to make her better and can't figure out how. Welcome to the club, Vet. But the stroke thing may be the case. She's been giving Phoebe cortisone shots in case she had swelling in the brain and told me it would take a few days to work. Because she thinks now that it really may be a stroke, she wants to continue the cortisone shots but keep her home with me because she eats better here.

Fresh air
The kids were outside and have been bummed that Phoebe looked not long for this world. When she finished eating I picked her up and took her out front to visit. Her eyes perked up even more. Phoebe LOOOOOVES to be outside. She didn't move in my arms but you could see how happy she was.

Back in the box
Back in the box she goes and before I know it... she's cleaning herself. Just kicking back in the box licking at the dried cat food from this afternoon. Bright eyes wide and alert.

And now...
We wait and see. If she had a stroke, hopefully she's going to recover. If the swelling in her brain is causing this and the cortisone is working, hopefully this means she'll continue to recover. I'm relieved to not be so worried and depressed at the moment, but just three hours ago she looked ready to die. And I'm tired of this merry go round. I want to get off this ride, but at the stop labeled "Better".

GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I WANT MY CAT TO BE WELL!!!!!

Posted by Pischina at 1:16 PM | Comments (1)

Phoebe = 1pm

The vet says she is the same, and it sounds like she is at her end of ideas. She says about the only other thing she can suggest is to take her to a specialist in Campbell. I don't know how much that will cost. I don't mind paying to make her well, but if it's going to have the same end, I don't know. For now she wants to keep her where she is, and I think overnight also. I think I may want to take her home tonight. At this point, it may be the last time she is ever at home. And that makes me really sad because I love Phoebe and want her to get well.

Posted by Pischina at 12:51 PM | Comments (1)

Phoebe = Thursday morning

She's back at the vet. More tests for her, no progress yet. The vet wants to try everything and I agree.

However, if she does not get better by the end of the week I have been instructed to prepare for some bad news. It won't be easy, but I am prepared. Phoebe would be miserable if she had to live like this forever. Hopefully she will just get better.

Posted by Pischina at 9:29 AM | Comments (1)

Phoebe = $$$

So she has already racked up a bill at the new vet that's more than I have spent at the other vet over 2-1/2 weeks. There were a very lot of tests done today though, hopefully tomorrow will be less. And hopefully they'll have some answers. On the other hand, it is so nice to not have that $$ worry. And I just smile when I think about my mom and dad because this is one of those things that I know they would approve of, not a doubt in my mind. They always felt that if you choose to bring an animal into your home then it should be treated like a living part of your family. I can't imagine just leaving Phoebe to die.

So she's here at home next to me in her carrier box. She can't walk anyway so I would rather she just stay in her box. When it gets late I'll sit her in her litter box and then put her in her bed. Hopefully she just sleeps until morning like she did last night. She still has lots of problems with her legs, and her front paw is all bandaged in yellow because the IV is still in it.

The vet was concerned this morning that she wasn't actually seeing through her eyes, and a few minutes ago I think saw what she meant. Her pupils weren't really responding to anything and didn't follow me around. That was scary. But also... I don't think being blind would slow Phoebe down when she gets better. She's too ruff & tumble of a cat. But then a few minutes ago she just looked right at me and her pupils were fine again and I could tell she saw me. So who knows. Blind I could deal with though. Alive I can deal with.

Posted by Pischina at 7:47 PM | Comments (0)

Phoebe = 5pm

I haven't heard from the vet recently, I go back at 6:30 to pick her up for the night. I'm dreading it. I don't like taking my eyes off her when she's this sick - and how am I going to get any sleep if I'm checking for a seizure all night long? On the other hand, knowing Phoebe, she may be 100% better. But I think the vet would have let me know by now. I don't want to have an emergency drive to the emergency clinic in the middle of the night. I want to go to sleep knowing that she is sleeping soundly, and then wake up and bring her back. I don't want the worry and stress in between.

Hopefully she is okay.

Posted by Pischina at 5:02 PM | Comments (1)

Phoebe - 2:15pm

The vet says Phoebe is anemic and her red blood count and potassium have plummeted since last week. So she is still on her IV with a potassium supplement also. She also got a shot of cortisone to get down any swelling in her brain that may be causing the problems. She said that as of right now the bladder stones are the least of her problems. She comes home tonight ("in case she has a seizure" so I can take her to the Emergency Clinic) but then she goes right back tomorrow morning. Right now she's sleeping on a heating pad with all her little tubes and needles. Poor little Phoebe.

Posted by Pischina at 2:24 PM | Comments (0)

11:30am

Gah. I brought the X-rays to the new vet and they brought Phoebe in to see me. She looked MISERABLE. She looked like a patient in the hospital. I asked for some confirmation that she will at least be okay, like, can I just stop worrying about her for a couple hours while she's here? But they wouldn't give it to me. She may spend the night there. They haven't said she's incurable, they just don't know what the problem is.

Posted by Pischina at 12:24 PM | Comments (0)

Phoebe - good news!

The vet just called, Phoebe is on an IV and getting her fluids and nutrients... and she just wolfed down half a can of cat food! It sounds like the nurses whooped and cheered when they saw her eating. Sweet little Phoebe! She's getting lots of lovin's!!!

They think the leg thing is separate from the bladder stones, possibly neurological. Trying to figure out if she got flea powder put on her (no), ate poisonous plants (nope), or what it could be. For now though, she is getting her care, and when she is all fattened up we will really and truly take care of the bladder stones.

Posted by Pischina at 10:21 AM | Comments (0)

Phoebe = part infinity

She was admitted to the veterinary hospital. They're going to put her on an iv and monitor her potassium and blood sugar. Whatever is (has been) wrong with her legs, it has nothing to do with her bladder stones. "How long has she been like THIS!!!" the vet all but shrieked.

She is in a very very very nice place now. I am confident that they will take care of her, or at least do everything possible to make her better. Hopefully the next time I say she is all better it will be the last time you ever hear about it.

Posted by Pischina at 9:30 AM | Comments (1)

Phoebe - emergency appointment this morning

I called the other vet today and they were VERY concerned with her symptoms, much more than the other vet ever was. They are going to see her as soon as the vet gets in today, at 8:30, and she will probably have surgery. Which is fine. I can afford it, and she is obviously in pain.

Catie, I didn't see your comment until after I made the appointment, but I do know that this vet is a good one. My parents only took their animals there, and I've been there myself before. I will feel much better with Phoebe in their care.

Posted by Pischina at 7:50 AM | Comments (0)

Phoebe = getting worse again

She's not eating again, although I mixed up the prescription food with some water and used a dropper to get some down her throat this evening, around five or six small droppers of it.

I'm calling the other vet tomorrow morning. I'm just not all that confident in this particular vet. It's like pulling teeth getting any info out of him - like possible diagnoses, possible treatments, what he is planning to DO... he doesn't give me any feedback when I tell him her symptoms, doesn't look at her walk when I tell him she's having trouble... so many symptoms I feel are being ignored, it's just give her a shot, fill her with fluids, send her home. We know she has stones, but everything I read on the internet seems to point to a not serious problem as long as it's treated -- but she IS serious, so we need to DO something. I am glad this is happening in the summer time, but still I need to stop having my life revolve around this cat and just get her BETTER.

So it's a phone call to the other vet tomorrow.

Posted by Pischina at 10:23 PM | Comments (1)

Okay, maybe not...?

So she lay on the towel for a very long time while we pet her and she just looked like she was in a lot of pain - I think she really hurt her bladder when she fell from the chair. Finally, I had just had enough - enough worrying about her!!! It was time to get better - NOW.

I had not given her the bladder-stone prescription food yet because the vet said cats don't always like it. So I was giving her the urinary-tract-forever-prescription food hoping to fatten her up a little first. But enough of that. I opened the bladder-stone can and put a half teaspoon on a spoon. She wanted none of it but wouldn't get up off the floor. I urged and urged and told her how YUMMY it was. She didn't care.

So I pried her mouth open and shoved it in.

She spit it out whole.

I pried open her mouth and shoved it in and held her mouth closed. She spat it all out through her teeth.

I pried open her mouth and shoved it in and held her mouth closed. She spat it all out through her teeth.

Lather, rinse, spit out.

So, I think I got half of that half teaspoon in her mouth.

Honestly? I think she looks a little more lively now. In fact, she's managed to slither quite a few feet away from me. I wonder why, heh.

Posted by Pischina at 9:44 PM | Comments (0)

Phoebe

So I guess she's not better.
:-(
I got home today and she was having major trouble walking, but it had been 2-1/2 days since her last antibiotic shot because the vet isn't there on Sunday. So I took her right in and she got her shot and filled with water again. She's just been laying here again. Well, she got up on her chair and just fell down trying to get off and I think she hurt herself, she's laying pretty still. I hope the antibiotics kick in really fast.

Plus I can't take much more of this. I want her better and to STAY better.

Posted by Pischina at 8:55 PM | Comments (0)

Phoebe = back to being a pain

Today she has: jumped the baby gate, jumped the fence, crossed the street without supervision, jumps onto the dining table to sniff out and eat our food, jumped onto the kitchen sink to lick all our plates dry.

I think she's better now. Grrrr.

Interesting note from Catherine about feeding Tinkerbelle only bottled water -- my parents only fed her bottled water but we thought it was just because she was spoiled!!! They never mentioned it so I don't know if it was recommended to them also (or if she was just spoiled). It looks like our kitties may be now doing the same!

(Goodness!! even as I typed this I had to throw her off the table four times! I guess she's making up for all the eating she missed last week!)

Posted by Pischina at 10:54 PM | Comments (1)

Phoebe

As for the kitty cat, she's running around eating everything in sight. Well, she's not running yet, but she is walking wherever she needs to go with no problem. When I put her in her box to go to the vet this morning, she even jumped right out!! She follows us all around the house meowing loudly. She is much better.

As for me, I'm going back to bed.

Posted by Pischina at 9:09 PM | Comments (1)

My own theory

Also? I think it was the last antibiotics that made her get worse. She definitely has stones, and those are definitely hurting her, but she wasn't that sick when I took her in - it wasn't until she started taking the antirobe aquadrops that she got much much worse, and quickly. Now she is on a different kind, and since the moment she got off the others, she has improved with NO backsliding. She never threw up or had diarrhea, but I still think she had some reaction. So hopefully she improves to how she was last week (she's already almost there).

Posted by Pischina at 8:56 AM | Comments (0)

Still getting better!

Took Phoebs to the vet to get her shot and more fluids pumped into her. This time she did not dociley sit there, neither did she just howl. She decided that she had had enough, and was going to leave. It wasn't that frantic fighting that scared animals do at the vet, it was more of Phoebe's signature "F*** this S***, I've had enough, get me off this table NOW. No, I'm F***ing serious, get me off this table NOW."

The vet said he's going to order the special stone-dissolving food for her and if she continues to eat, she'll get put on that food as soon as it comes in.

On the way home I noticed she was sitting in her box CLEANING HERSELF!!! I was so happy I almost started crying.

"She's... she's licking her butt!!! *sniff* !!!"

Posted by Pischina at 8:50 AM | Comments (1)

Phoebe is eating!

This morning I went in the kitchen to make coffee and Phoebe was right there sitting looking at me (like she always is when someone is in the kitchen). So I got a little bowl out and put some wet food in it and set it in front of her...

and she started licking!! She didn't eat a lot, but she did lick it a lot. This is wonderful! She's getting stronger, she's eating and drinking... maybe soon she can start on the pet food that will fix her stones!

Three of the kids' friends came over yesterday at different times, three friends that Phoebe loves. She's not a very loving cat, she won't sit in your lap or anything, but she is very social and loves to say hi. I think the visits really cheered her up, I'm serious. She sat next to them and they pet her and talked to her and kept offering food and water. David often spends the night and he's the only person EVER that she ever wanted to sleep next to. So he spent the night last night in the family room with her. Sure enough, this morning she was sitting right next to him.

I'm so afraid to say "Looks like she's getting better!" cuz she always goes backwards, but as of today she is better than she has been since last week. So I am happy.

Posted by Pischina at 7:00 AM | Comments (1)

She's walking!!

She got up off her towel (because she's still peeing all over the place) and walked, and walked to the step up into the dining room, and climbed up it, and walked another six feet... and plopped herself down at my feet!

Awwwww.... my sweet little Phoebe, I hope you really are getting stronger.

My Goodness!!!

She just stood up, on ALL FOURS, and slowly but surely walked about three feet to her water dish, and DRANK. That was quite a surprise, she hasn't moved that far since Sunday afternoon. Hopefully all that food and the fluids did her some good.

I get tired of getting my hopes up though, so I will just be happy in the moment.

Phoebe

I went to visit her at the vet and she didn't look well AT ALL. Jeeez, it's like an emotional rollercoaster. She didn't want to be moved from the cage and she couldn't seem to use her forearms to push herself around. I just sat and pet her and she purred and wimpered. I wanted to cry. She put her head face down again, and so I cradled her head in my hand while she went to sleep. It seemed like she was in a lot of pain while she tried to breathe. Once she fell asleep her breathing calmed down. I waited for a few minutes, then removed my hand and went home. I felt like the weight of the world had crashed down again.

I had to go back at 4:30 to talk to the vet. She was suddenly bright eyed again. Gosh, Phoebe, just make up your mind, I can't take this!! So she came out to get more fluids in her and then we got to take her home. The vet isn't really sure yet what we're going to do. It seems to me like... he doesn't want to say... I'm not really sure. But I had Buffy with me this time so I didn't want to ask her likely chances. We took her home and she's just resting in her carrier box.

Tomorrow she has to go back for another shot and more fluids. We have to fatten her up some how and get her strength back, but I'm not sure if that is enough... I can't quite get an exact answer out of the vet, but I guess because first thing we have to fatten her back up.

Some people mentioned how I can at least pay for her vet bills now, and that is something I am definitely aware of. My mom and dad did everything for their pets and they always gave me money when I needed to care for ours. So I already thought about it and know it would be okay to pay for the surgery if she gets well enough. I am very very glad I am able to pay for al these visits because they are already adding up, I'm so grateful I don't have the financial stress on top of it all. Would I pay $10,000 on her? No. But if this surgery can make her well then I will pay $1000 or a little more for it. Hopefully there is Something we can do, that is all. Thanks everyone for your good thoughts.

*****

More important, I have a friend at work whose 15 year old daughter has found a lump in her breast. They won't have results for a few days. Although the doctor has tried to reassure the mother, she is freaked out, of course. So good thoughts for them both please.

"I've never seen stones so big in a cat before!"

Phoebe is at the vet right now, resting comfortably but not happily. In fact, she is quite pissed at everyone right now. But there is good news to be had...

Yesterday afternoon she just looked worse, and she still had not eaten or drank water since Sunday afternoon, except for about a teaspoon of food and a tablespoon of water a day. So I called the vet and he said I could take her in for X-rays this morning to see if she had any stones, because he was kind of at a loss for what is wrong.

This morning she definitely looked bad. It was a horrible time waiting until 8am when the vet opened. But Phoebe actually had a very nice ride in the car and was wide eyed and awake when we arrived.

First thing, she got her butt shaved. Her butt was a mess with urine and even some matted poop. Then she got a shot of antibiotics. Then she had X-rays taken. The X-rays didn't get her bladder, so back she went for more.

At that point, Phoebe was SO MAD at us. She made her first noises in a week - that very angry EERRRRROOWWWWWLLLLLLLIMGONNAKILLYOUALLLLLLLEEEEEOOORRRRRRRRRR.

Then back she sat on the table. Only to get her arm shaved so they could put an IV in her to get some nutrients in her. Her blood pressure was so low they couldn't get a vein. So she got a needle in her neck that shot fluids into her. She wasn't happy about this, and three time (at least) managed to squirm enough that the needle came out and shot liquid all over her. Meanwhile, the doctor had a can of wet cat food that he kept dipping his finger into and then shoving down her throat. She managed to swallow some, but also managed to spit a lot out, just like babies do.

So we have a cat with a shaved butt, and chicken leg for an arm, cat food smeared all over her face, and wet fur all over her back. Saying she was pissed is an understatement.

But, she was looking stronger by the second, and just seeing her looking so angry was an improvement from laying there with her face in the carpet.

The X-rays came out and she does have stones in her bladder. Two huge stones that boggled the vet. Why does my family always have problems that are worse than the doctors have ever seen???? Anyway, it was a relief to finally, FINALLY, know what was wrong.

Solution: Surgery or eating special food to dissolve them (IF they are the right kind of stones).
But she can't have surgery right now because she's too weak from not eating, and she can't have the special food because she's not eating anyway.

So today she is going to spend the day in a nice big cage while she gets IV treatments and force fed some more food. Then we'll see what we can do. I told the doctor I'd be happy to force feed her the food if that's what it took.

For now I am just extremely happy that she is in a safe place, getting some CARE finally. And she has some food in her, and some fluids, and she should look much better when I pick her up this afternoon.

Poor kitty. I'm sure those stones must hurt. They each looked the size of a walnut halve. Hopefully she forgives me for everything she went through today, but in the end I don't care as long as she gets better. And I think that finally she may be getting that help that she needs.

I feel like a huge load of worry is off my back now.

Phoebe - Tuesday evening update

So Spike said Phoebe wouldn't eat or drink this morning, and I couldn't get hold of the vet, so I rushed home after work. I took the little teacup of water and brought it to her and held it and pet her and encouraged her to take a drink. And finally she did, she slurped up quite a lot. So I got some of the wet food and put it on the spoon and held it to her chin and after a bit she took some licks and finally ate about 2 teaspoons full. And then I put her on my lap to get lots of pets and basically get treated like a queen.

Then the vet called. Phoebe's bloodwork came in. And it is all negative. Every single test, even the more accurate kidney test that originally scored high. HypERthyroidism, HypOthyroidism, Feline AIDS, leukemia, kidney failure, about a zillion tests all came in negative.

I told him she hadn't been eating and he said maybe she didn't like the food. Well, she was gulping it up until Sunday, so I don't think that's the problem - plus, Pischina-kitty thinks it's the best thing since raw porkchops.
I told him she's been having a lot of trouble walking, especialy with her hind legs. He said maybe she's getting arthritis. I said she's only four years old!!! and it didn't start until this week!
So we give her the antibiotics for a few days more and call him back to report status again. But for now she's all clear. I've been reading about a lot of horrible kitty diseases on the internet and he tested for all of them, so it's a relief that she doesn't have any of those things.

"She's faking it for the attention!" claims Buffy. "She's a big FAKER."
"She's just LAZY," said Spike.

"Who, me?" said Phoebe.

There's no doubt that she's been sick. She was definitely sick until Sunday, and she definitely has not been eating or drinking since then. But the antibiotics can cause that plus the constipation. The constipation can cause the walking problems. I suppose that's why she doesn't jump right now. I don't know. We'll see in the next few days.

Maybe she just had some sort of kitty flu?? I don't know. I really am glad though that all those horrible diseases came back negative. Since she seems to be out of danger now I'll just take care of her the best I can until she's jumping around again.

Meanwhile, Pischina-kitty is gulping the new food down left and right. She gulps down all the food Phoebe leaves behind, she gulps down her own bowl of wet food, she gulps down all the dry food - normally we just set bowls of food out and they eat when they are hungry. We've never had a problem with them over eating before. That must be some really good cat food. Pischina-kitty is going to gain five pounds by the time Phoebe gets better.

Phoebe - Tuesday morning

There hasn't really been any further change.

The Good:
She appears to be alert, when she doesn't appear to be really tired.
She does not move around much, but she has been able to find a way outside several times, so I just opened the door to the backyard and closed the gate - since she can't jump yet, she is able to just rest in the shade without me worrying about her crossing the street or getting lost.
She pooed again last night.

The Bad:
She can't really get up off the floor.
She is no longer eating.
She is no longer drinking.

So... I mean it's encouraging that she at least is LOOKING better, but behavior wise, I don't think the lack of eating/drinking is a good thing, especially when she was originally very dehydrated. So I have to call the vet again today and give him her status.

I would be really happy to just have her be well again.

Phoebe - Monday morning update

Today she was inching her way up the hallway to my bedroom again so I got up and gave her her medicine. She didn't want to drink and only took a bite to eat, but she really wanted to go outside. Phoebe is very much an outdoor cat, she would stay out there forever if I let her. She hasn't wanted to go outside since last week, so I thought maybe some fresh air would do her some good for a little while.

She hobbled across the yard, peed in the grass (no poo though), and scrambled onto the 10" retaining wall next door. Then she walked over and lay down under their car.

Well, I can't keep watch over her under their car, and she doesn't move quickly enough yet that I would trust she'd get out before they drove away without knowing they just smooshed her. So I picked her up and set her back in our yard. She walked over and lay down under my car. I have to walk outside to see her, but at least I know she's there. I brought a bowl of water and put it under the car next to her.

She's out there with her "well" face on, glaring at all the birds who dare to play in her lawn, but she's not up to chasing yet. But she's going to let them know if she could, she would. Her little tail is twitching all around. I'll let her stay for an hour, but then she'll have to come back in where I can see her.

I hope she makes a little more progress today. I still want to see her get onto a chair - and start eating and drinking more, that has really dropped off. Then I can stop worrying. But at least the vet opens back up tomorrow, and I don't think we'll need any trips to the emergency vet. I think the minute-by-minute updates can probably stop today.
;-)

Phoebe - Final Sunday evening update!

I believe she is probably out of harms way now. If you saw her sitting or laying there, you wouldn't think anything was wrong with her. She looks at you, she responds when you call her. The only thing I'm going to watch for tomorrow is making sure she eats and drinks more, and it would be nice if she got up off the floor. She often naps on three little stacked FedEx boxes I have and she actually climbed onto those today, but I'd like to see her jump on a chair or the printer. Then I'll know she's completely out of the woods.

Otherwise, I think she's finally on her way to recovery! I don't think she would have made it if I had not stayed and forced water and food down her throat, so I'm glad I did. YAY, I'm glad I will have my little fluffy kitty back again!

Alert the media!

She pooped!!!

She sat on the porch for awhile, then saw the elderly lady across the street come out of her house. Phoebe went into the grass and squatted, but nothing came out. She walked a few more feet. Squatted and nothing came out. Walked a few more feet... and kept her eye on the grandma the entire time. It was as if she was thinking "If only I could get this poop out of my bum I could cross the street and get lovin's from that lady."

Finally, she squatted, and worked at it... and poop came out! WOOOOO, sometimes there are reasons to celebrate a good poop. And this is one of those times.

I wouldn't let her cross the street though, even though she was standing and walking and looking better than she has in a week. I told her maybe tomorrow she could go visiting.

Now she just has to drink a little more water and maybe a little more food - that sort of dropped off today, although she also was getting tired of me following her around with spoons of peas and squash. I may have nursed her back to health, but she's definitely seeing me now as an annoyance.

Which is good, because that means she's GETTING BETTER!!!!!

Posted by Pischina at 8:40 PM | Comments (1)

Does she feel the call...?

She has moved herself to sitting directly in front of the front door, looking outside. Perhaps she feels a little tingle in her bum?

Regardless, she is clear and bright eyed. Not moving a lot, but she seems very alert today. I think if we can just empty that colon she'll be feeling just fine.

Back from the store!

I hurried up as fast as I could, and when I got back Phoebe is still sitting here just as she was before. I couldn't find pumpkin so I got butternut squash and some peas (website said peas were good too). I put some squash on a teaspoon and offerred it to Phoebe, who normally won't turn her nose up to anything. But she wasn't thrilled and would not taste it. However, the website said when constipated they will often not eat or drink because they feel nauseous. So I opened her mouth and put a few drops in. Then she decided it was pretty good and licked up the rest of the spoon.

So. Squash in tummy, hopefully poop will come out. Not on the carpet. heh.

Posted by Pischina at 1:55 PM | Comments (0)

Phoebe!

1pm and still bright-eyed! and walking just a tad bit better.

I am off to the store to buy some babyfood pumpkin. I may have to cage her in her litter box after she eats it, haha, because lord knows we don't want all that coming out on the carpet.
Ew.

You go Phoebe Girl

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Phoebe is feeling Much better. She's doing a lot of sittting up, and looking around at every sound. Just now she walked over to the dish with the dry food and started crunching away at it. Pischina-kitty walked in and about had a cow - she's so used to Phoebe eating over by the entryway, and Pischina not allowed to touch Phoebe's bowl, I'm sure now she thinks the dry food bowl is only for her, haha.
Heee, Pischina just walked over to Phoebe's wet food bowl and is now eating from that one. Silly kitties.

I hope things turn out well today.

Pumpkin Pie for Phoebe-baby

I looked up treatments for constipation in cats and I read that giving baby food peas or pumpkin can sometimes help. Phoebe is under a strict diet, but I wonder if a little teaspoon of babyfood pumpkin from that organic company (Natures Valley? Organic Valley?) anyway I know we have it at the store, it's the only thing I fed my kids. I wonder if it would help her a little.

OOH! Just now I look at her and she sat up and reached down to lick her foot. Only one lick and then she stopped, but she hasn't cleaned herself since at least Thursday! Another good sign!

Phoebe - Sunday morning

Well... I think she's a teeny tiny bit better!!!!

This morning I woke up at 6am and went to check on her, and she was about 8 feet further up the hallway than she had been. Five minutes later I looked and she was about 5 feet from my bedroom door. So she's definitely expanding her area of laying down - and even that little thing is an improvement.

Now, at 9am I get up and she's laying in the kitchen - her favorite room of the whole house. And her head is up! and she looks me in the eye!

She's still not drinking much, and she's quite constipated, but I looked at a website last night that said cats will make themselves constipated by keeping the wet food inside long enough to wring every last drop of moisture out of it. So you know, good and bad there, but constipated is better than dehydrated at the moment.

It's just nice seeing her a little more aware, even though she's not doing much. And moving around a little bit more, even though she doesn't walk well yet. We'll see how things go today.

Congratulations and thank you to Catie who gave me my 100th comment on this site! (even if under worried circumstances)
Thanks to Leslie and everyone else, and a BIG thank you to Dot for praying for Phoebe - the only kinds of people Phoebe really likes are little girls and very old ladies, so I think Dot's thoughts probably helped her out more than any others.

Phoebe - Saturday evening update

I have to say that I am worn out right now. I'm afraid to go to sleep, I'm afraid to take my eyes off her. She definitely constipated, she doesn't move out of a six foot square area, she looks miserable...
Part of me wants to sling her in the car and take her to the emergency clinic, but I don't want to drive her the 14 miles there if there's nothing they can do. I'm going to call them in the morning and describe her symptoms and see what they say.
She was better before she went to the vet. She was at least sleeping in the chair and on top of the printer before the vet visit. She hasn't moved off the floor since then.

Please come out of this Phoebe

Between the shaking and the not shaking of her head, I'm am a nervous wreck turning my head to check on her every 30 seconds. I gave her her antibiotics 2 hours early because she was shaking so hard again and I wasn't sure she was breathing very well. Now she's just looking very very veryyyyyyyyyyy tired.
:-(

Posted by Pischina at 8:03 PM | Comments (0)

blah

I didn't mean for this to be the will-she-or-won't-she play by play of Phoebe's health, but I'm just a little scared I guess. She seems pretty good as long as she's just sitting or laying there, but as soon as she gets up to walk around she looks like shit and it's obvious she feels that way. I can't stand to see the shakes on her. It's like having a little sick baby, you can't ask them what is wrong. At least with little kids they can tell you what's hurting or how they feel. But I don't know how bad Phoebe feels, and that makes me feel helpless because I don't know how bad she is or how to fix what is wrong. But I'm glad I didn't go to Aptos. I don't think it's a good idea to leave her.

Fooled me

Just as I hit send on the previous entry she walks into the kitchen, pees on the floor and starts shaking again. aaaaargh. I wiped her and the floor and she's resting again. Gah. Get better, Phoebe!

Phoebe - Saturday afternoon update

She still is not herself, but at 2pm it appeared that she would be fine if I left to Aptos until morning. So off I went to JC Pennys to buy some summer clothes and three beautiful dresses that were 50% off.

I was gone for an hour.

I came home and Phoebe is standing there with a wet butt, from the tip of her tail to the bottom of her hind legs she was soaked, and it appears there may be a piece of poop that has matted to a tuff of her hair. I reached down to pet her and she started shivering again, from her neck to her head it just shakes and shakes.

Called Scott, told him I'm not coming to dinner.

She seems fine again - maybe she was just trying to teach me a lesson for thinking about leaving her. She is laying in the hall where she has a view out the front door and can feel the breeze. She is more alert now, meaning she'll twitch her ears if I call her name. I can't ask for much more as she can barely be bothered to give us a twitch of her ears when she's feeling fine. She seems fatter now - as opposed to the flat roadkill image she portrayed yesterday - and fluffier. I really hope she's going to be okay.

I'm glad Scott understands. In fact, he seemed to discourage me from coming - he knows I'll be devastated if I go to dinner and come back to... no more Phoebe. That's a very good boyfriend right there. I really wanted to spend this 3 day weekend with him, I don't get to see him much during the school year and it really is important to try to get closer when school is out. But we'll be fine. I forgot to mention this, but we did have lunch in San Jose yesterday when I realized I wouldn't be coming for the weekend, and we had a good time.

At the moment her head is totally on alert because of something she sees outside. That's a very encouraging look - now if only she'll stop peeing on herself and stop the shakes.

Phoebe's personality being what it is, I'm not sure she cares about the hopes and prayers that Catie, Petey-Cat, Kat, Catherine and Murphy have sent her, but I do. So thanks guys.

Phoebe - Saturday morning update

This morning she got up, I gave her her medicine, and she ate a bunch of food again, but I realized she has now not gone #2 since at least Thursday afternoon. After she ate I put her on the front grass, but she got up and walked back inside to lay down. That was the most she had moved in three days, combined.

Ten minutes later I noticed she was sitting on the front porch, but she still looked terribly sick.

Ten minutes later she was in the front yard under a bush, looking half sick, half like she was enjoying a nice Saturday morning outside.

Ten minutes later she was gone.

Dammit.

I worried about her and looked for her for about 90 minutes, then I suddenly turned around and there she was, sitting in the hallway again. So that was good. She got up and walked to her empty dish, so I gave her some more wet food and called Scott. I told him I was probably going to make dinner with his parents tonight but would probably come home this evening or tomorrow morning. He was surprised, and said he knew how worried I was about her and how upset I would be if she got worse while I was gone. But I am fairly confident that she'll be fine until I come back. I don't feel confident enough to be gone for three days though.

So... hopefully she is out of the woods. I don't know if she went to the bathroom when she was outside, that's the first time I didn't have track of her since Thursday. Hopefully she did, because she has been eating a LOT. She's not cleaning herself yet, but at least she's moving around.

Phoebe update

So she wakes up, urinates right where she is, scoots over about six inches, and lays back down. Usually with her tail in the puddle. Then I come running over with a paper towel.
It's like taking care of great-grandpa. I think I'm going to be busy this weekend, heh.
Also, I don't believe she's done a #2 in at least 36 hours. There will be another call to the vet tomorrow morning if I dont get something out of her, especially since she is eating a lot today. At least that part is good.

Ah little Phoebekins, I hope you get better soon. She's too pretty and loveable to be sick.

Posted by Pischina at 9:02 PM | Comments (0)

Phoebe Cat

So Phoebe Cat never really got better after the whole "spraying bloody urine" week. The blood part seemed to clear up, but she was still letting go as soon as she woke up. And day by day she seemed to be sleeping more and more until I realized she pretty much just lay down all day - no running, jumping, playing, nothing. Thursday morning when she woke up her little head was shaking back and forth.

I got a vet appointment for that afternoon. He tested some urine and still found blood. They had to put her out for a few minutes to take some blood and give her a few shots. Then they gave me some super-antibiotics for her and some special prescription cat food which she'll be restricted to for the rest of her life. They think she may have been exposed to some of that bad pet food, because that's when she got sick.

So last night she was pretty listless and didn't eat anything. She just laid on the floor pretty much looking like flat roadkill. Sorry for the horrible image, but that's what she looked like. Like she was 100 years old and ready to die. I took a little japanese china teacup and filled it with water and held it to her mouth, and she slurped up a lot.

This morning she had her head up but still looked reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally tired. But I saw her gulping down some breakfast, so that was good. But after I packed the car to drive to Aptos for a nice 3-day weekend with Scott (Spike said he'd come by to give Phoebe her medicine twice a day), Phoebe tried to walk out the front door but instead was walking sideways, crab style, with her head shaking again.

I called the vet at 10am when they said the lab results would be in and told them her status. They said her results show she probably has a bad kidney infection, and possibly a crystal blockage in her stomach. Also she was extremely dehydrated. So I have to make sure she drinks a lot of water, feed her only the wet prescription food, and keep an eye on her. If she gets worse I have to take her to the emergency vet clinic.

So that cancels the 3-day weekend, heh. I came home from work, she doesn't look worse but she doesn't look better either. She is wolfing down the wet food which is good, but I have to bring her water in the tea cup for her to drink. Mostly she lays in the hallway looking miserable. But I'm going to stay here and monitor her while I make sure she gets water and medicine, until I see some results. If she starts walking around I'll go to dinner with Scott and his parents Saturday. If she starts running around I'll pack back up and head out to Aptos. At the moment, I'm not sure which way it's going to go. If she doesn't get better then she probably has the crystal blockage and will have to have surgery.

Poor little Phoebe. She really does look miserable, and she must be hurting awfully.

I'm sure her habit of doing this had nothing to do with it.

Kitten is Okay

When I went to bed last night the kitten was hiding underneath it, so that was a relief. I closed the back door and got into bed, and the kitten jumped up and played with my feet for about an hour, then went to sleep. This morning she wanted back out to play with Christmas cat.

We are off to Vegas in an hour. I'm leaving the back kitty-door open so she can come in at night and we won't have to worry about her.

I'll see ya'll on Tuesday - check in at Flickr to see what we're up to over the weekend!

5:00am, bright and early and on the dot, Phoebe-Kitty was ready to go outside.

I hate animals at the moment

Okay, so I'm at my mom's house this evening for dinner, and when it's time to go I find that my dad's dog, a little white fluffy thing, has EATEN my sandals, BOTH of them. EATEN them, ya'll. I think this is my dad's revenge for actually hiring the black gay guy to sing at his funeral.

So I come home, and Phoebe Cat is EATING another bird in the dining room, although just so we know she follows her manners, she was crunching it up over by her food dish. She doesn't just eat birds off the floor.

BAD dog!!!
BAD kittie!!!!!

What would a whole bottle of red wine spilled on the floor look like?

I noticed this morning that a wine bottle was nudged out of place in the 4-shelf wine rack I have. The bottom of the bottle had "fallen" out of the ledge and was sitting on the floor. Only like a 3 inch drop, so no big deal, and I didn't think anything else of it.

Just now I saw Phoebe Kitty tearing through the house, then jump up, grap the neck of a bottle on the top level, and try to swing herself to the side. Or whatever, I don't know what was going through her mind, but that's what it looked like. Then she fell down, jumped back up, grabbed the bottle neck and pulled.

Lucky for her the bottle was too heavy. But now I know what happened to the other bottle.

If she breaks one bottle I'll kill her. Kitty guts everywhere, I mean it.

Kitty's tired

Buffy is slept at her dad's house last night, but her alarm just went off anyway, and it was really loud. I sat here at the computer for a few minutes before getting up to turn it off. I walked into her room and saw Phoebe-Kitty standing next to the alarm pushing all the buttons with her paw!!! And then she looked up at me as if to say "Could you please make this thing be QUIET????"

Bella the Dog again

The update was just on the news again, and the animal shelter said the adoptive parents were "unfairly vilified" by the press, and that the 10 year old daughter had bonded with the dog and was "devastated" after giving the dog up.

I don't know about "unfairly". The dog did not belong to them. The original owner found the dog just hours after the adoption. If the adoptive parents had given the dog back immediately and chosen another dog, none of this would have happened, the girl would not have bonded (they had not even picked the dog up yet!!!), there would have been NO press, Bella would have been back home and some unwanted dog would have found a nice home instead.

It's called Doing the Right Thing. BEFORE the lawsuit is filed. Jeez, people, law or no law, this was NOT HER DOG.

Finally, the Right resolution

"If you took a dog home from the Humane Society -- and then its rightful owner turned up -- would you give it back?"

There was no way the lady was going to get away with keeping that dog, this has been just about the ONLY news in San Jose this week, and she was made out to be quite the Evil Person - which I kind of agree with. But finally, the dog is now back with her original owner.

I understand Finders Keepers, I understand the original owner should have had tags on her dog, but in the end, this was a member of her FAMILY that was lost. There are so many other unwanted animals that little girl could have for her birthday.

This was a really great column about it in this morning's paper.

AAAAARRRGH

I guess I got the tastiest plants available.
I keep moving the plants to different locations and the cats follow me while licking their lips and looking like I'm trying to hide a box full of live mice from them.

But when I buy those grow it yourself catnip or wheat grass kits, do the kitties want to eat that?
Nooooooooo...

Goddamit she's eating one already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Silly Kitties

The kitten loves nothing better than to chew on pieces of styrofoam and rubberbands. I just took a little pile of both away from her (again) and she started her Mewing/crying and then just left me to go look out the window. She's mad at me.
I never even knew you could find rubber bands in our house but this cat doesn't seem to have any problem.

Ewww

Someone please tell my kitty it is not polite to get up here and snuggle in my lap and then let a whopping bubble of gas out.
Stinkyyyyyy

Speaking of...

My little kitten's poopies stink sooooooo bad, I don't know what to do. We have the litter box in the dining room closet and have NEVER had a problem with smell, but this cat's poopies stink so bad we have to change it a couple times a day.
I think I'm going to vomit right now.

Aargh

I just realized that we are out of toilet paper, completely out.
Thanks in part to a certain little kitty who thought it would be fun to unroll a whole entire roll and drag it around the bathroom and behind the toilet.
I have paper towels ready for the kids when they wake up and then we're off to the store, heh.

Phoebe

Our new kitty sat still for a split second for me to take this picture:

That's after tossing out about 15 pictures of a little black blurrrr.
The pictures aren't going to get any better.
She's just pure black, half the time we don't know which end is up until she opens her eyes and looks at us, haha.

Too Early

Dear Kitties,
5:30am Thanksgiving morning is NOT the time to run and chase each other all over the house!!!!!!
I guess I'll make some coffee now.

The Kitties

So the kitties are still playing...
The kitten thinks the cat is a really cool toy she can play with 24/7.
The cat thinks the kitten is a really cool toy but wishes she could find the OFF button for it.

Phoebe Kitty

Tomorrow I will take a picture of our new kitten and perhaps write about her.
But at least she and Pischina-kitty are finally getting along,
Well, they still chase each other around the house but at least there's no more growling and hissing and scratching, just running.

And now it's time for bed.
Good Night.
