Scott and I had a very nice quiet time in Volcano as we always do, and it was nice to see a new cafe open called "Humble Pies and Coffee". This place had honestly the best pies either of us had ever tasted, hands down, and would be worth the 2-1/2 hour drive just to get one. They also served meat pies, sausage rolled in pie dough, etc. It was awesome.

All weekend I kept saying we needed to go to the town store to get new batteries for my camera because I wanted to finally take some good pictures of Volcano. We never made it to the store until the last day, right before leaving. We were going to take a quick walk around town (you can walk the perimeter in less than 10 minutes) and take pictures, then go home. So I bought a 4-pack of batteries, put two in my camera...

And it still said I needed new batteries. So I put the other two in, managed to keep the camera on long enough to get one photo, and the camera died again.

I pulled out the battery package and looked at the date: 2004.

Scott started laughing hysterically as I stood there pissed off. "I don't think this is funny," I said, "I wanted to take pictures! You know I wanted to take pictures all weekend!"

"I just think it's hilarious," said Scott,"that we would go into that stupid store and actually believe that any batteries we found would not have been sitting on the shelf for the last four fucking years! Of COURSE they're four years old, look where we are!!!"

And he's right. You stay the weekend at an old mining ghost town, population 80-some people of which you never see more than 15, you don't exactly expect to find new batteries. So we left. But we did have a good time up until then.

I saw two DVDs this weekend, I know I'm behind the times, but I just saw "Juno" and "Gone Baby Gone". I liked them both. I think if you're the type of person who would like "Juno" then you've probably already seen "Juno" so that's all I have to say about that. But "Gone Baby Gone" actually blew me away. That was an awesome story with awesome actors and it was an awesome movie. If you haven't seen that one yet, then you definitely need to see it.

My Modern English class is going well. After calling me "scary smart" last week, and telling the class I was probably going for a law degree, my professor and I have come to a mutual respect and I actually really like the guy. He made a comment that I must have had teaching experience before, and when I said No, he said that I was going to make an excellent teacher. I take that comment with a grain of salt because the class is full of morons who make me look like a genius, but it was a nice compliment anyway. He said he'll be one of my references for the graduate program too. First midterm is tomorrow, so we're flying through this summer class.

Buffy is grounded again, what else is new, yet for all the trouble she gives me I am amazed at how much worse all of her friends are. The majority of her friends are getting straight Fs - yeah, straight Fs. How do you even DO that?? But the good news is that one of them is being sent to a continuation school next year - a pretty tough continuation school full of tough kids, and let me tell you, it couldn't happen to a nicer kid (*snort*) and I can't wait to hear she's getting her ass kicked every single day. Yes Charleen, I do mean Monique. Wahooooooo!!!! hahaha

Sound harsh? Trust me, you don't want that kid anywhere near your own kids.

The weather here is hot, so I am miserable, but I'm enjoying a nice work/school schedule for once and trying to get life and home back in order.

That's it for now.
