Summer School
Oh, wait, you thought you were done with school posts? HAHAHAHA, yeah, never gonna happen.
I start my summer class Monday afternoon. Modern English, which is a required intense grammar class. I don't really believe I'll have a problem with it, so I'm eager to just get it over in six weeks. I'm sure I'll eat my words on that one.
I ordered the Norton book of literary criticism to study over the summer, party because I'm insane, partly because I'm mad that I learned exactly zilch in my class, and partly because I'm fascinated that no professor seems to want to teach it because it is so difficult.
And difficult is right up my alley. Don't be surprised to see me specializing in literary criticism, heh.
I saw a swim-team mom/friend at Time Trials Saturday, she asked if I had graduated yet, and when I told her I was going to apply to some PhD programs she shrieked, "Are you crazy???"
And I agreed that I probably am, but it also took me back to my very very first semester of school when I registered for 12 units while working full time. "Are you crazy???" was the question of the day, by everyone I spoke to. But then I got all A's, in every class. And now I'm graduating with all sorts of honors and a passed fluency exam and a lot more accomplished than I ever would have dreamed back in the Fall of 2004.
"Well I figured I'm not going to be accepted if I don't apply," was my answer after agreeing to my craziness. And that's really the answer. I think it's probably not likely that I will be accepted at this time, mainly because I don't have experience yet writing a paper that would be required for acceptance. But I do have a chance, and I have the beginnings of a paper that is appropriate.
So I'm still preparing to apply.
But tomorrow, it's Grammar.
