Strange child
More strange facts about Buffy: The other thing is her vocabulary and her desire for a much larger vocabulary. She constantly asks me what words mean, and I see her then use them on her MySpace (correctly even!). She asked for a "Word of the Day" calendar, but calendar season is over. This evening I was telling her about my summer English professor, how he slips these ridiculously big words into every other sentence. For example, he actually said "fecund" in a sentence - and while I know what fecund means, I have never actually heard a real live person USE that word. Then, half an hour (and fifty more big words) later, he used "fecundity" in a sentence. "Mmm Buffy, NO ONE talks like that," I tried to tell her. My guess is your daughter is gifted, and thus, she is bored in her "regular" classes and that's why she currently has low grades. At least you know she's a smartie. One day, she will blaze a trail through school....even though it may be college before you see that. She will be challenged there. Don't you wish you had a crystal ball???
