Interesting.
The news says Aptos High School is serving as the evacuation center, but Aptos High School is only a couple blocks down the street from Scott's house. So here's hoping this means Scott's evacuation is at the very very end of the worry zone.

I think right now the evacuationa area is not so near Aptos High, but who knows what will happen. Our very good friends (he married us and also our daughter and son-in-law) are on Calabasas Road, which is definitely being evacuated, and we have two other good friends who both live on Buena Vista near the airport.

I feel like crying - we are all so upset and frightened by what is happening in Santa Cruz County this summer.

We are in San Lorenzo Valley - if we have a fire there is only one narrow road out for hundreds of households, so we have already figured out we will have to get wet blankets and drive to a nearby church parking lot and try to just weather the firestorm. We are pretty scared.

No, he IS evacuated. His housemate got the call and called him at work to let him know. The evacuation center is at Aptos High. But since that is only a couple blocks from his house, on the same road, I'm thinking his evacuation is just a precaution. I'm hoping anyway.
