Fire better for now
I just talked to Scott. He was allowed back in his house last night at 9pm. Many funny stories about how they collected all the animals, and how happy the cats were to be in boxes (REEEEEEALLY happy, if you know what I mean). Not many funny stories about the theory that these fires were set intentionally - Having been through a fire, I can tell you that to set one is just EVIL. To set one knowing that the fire could destroy many homes, that is just beyond evil.
Everyone is kind of jumpy in the Santa Cruz area, you could feel the jumpiness after the first major fire this summer, but now that there have been 3-4+ fires and it's only mid-June, things are really on edge.
It's going to be another 105+ degree F day today. Cooler tomorrow, but we have to get through today first. Aptos has a bad air warning because of the fires, and I can smell the fires at my house, it smells like there's a fire in the neighborhood. It's gross.
10:30am and it's already 85F in the house. And rising. Yesterday we were drinking buckets of water and never had to pee. Today I'm going to the gym to swim. Hope it's cooler where you all are, and fire free.
edited to add: My little weather notice over there ---> shows that it is 91F in San Jose at the moment, and RAINING. I assure you, there is not a raincloud in the sky right now.
