Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
I loved the play. I cannot wait to finish Frankenstein so I can read Dr. Jekyll. I had never seen any of the movies or plays or read the book - the extent of my familiarity with Dr. Jekyll comes from Bugs Bunny if you want the honest truth. I know, scandalous. But I really liked it and I thought the production was great. The kids knew about the same as I did, so while my son understood what was going on (and understood why one actor played Dr. Jekyll but four different actors [including one female] played, seperately and together, Mr. Hyde), my daughter was quite lost for most of the play. Her friend said he got it, but I think he was lieing, heh.
Eventually though, they all understood what was going on, and on the way home I explained the whole theme of evil being inside of us all. Then the car got quiet as everyone absorbed this thought, and re-remembered the whole play all over again.
Anyway, I can't wait to read the book, and to see how the play actually was adapted from the book for the stage. I really liked it though and we had a good time.
