Stupid.

Shut up Miley Cyrus and your whole family too.

It's funny that she's not sorry and apologizing for stupid photos she takes of herself (every damn week), but after taking some really beautiful photos with famed photographer Annie Leibovitz she comes out of no where to apologize for being "duped" by Vanity Fair when she and her family all saw the photos first AND approved them. No one would be talking about the photos or caring about them if she hadn't made a big deal of apologizing.

So... nice publicity stunt Miley. DUMB. You and your family are DUMB.

She's not a victim here - except that she should have been grounded by her family weeks ago for pictures she HERSELF took. So... Shut up Miley, Shut up Miley's Family.

I love my Tylenol Cold medicines

Goodness these pills work wonders. I'm feeling a little loopy right now - but not sick at all. Unfortunately, I only have two more doses left. I may have to make a trip out to get more. But if I can stay high enough on Tylenol Colds for the weekend I just may be able to churn out these papers. WOOOOOOO. Yay for Tylenol Colds!!!

I'm gonna kick ye olde asses of Chaucer, Spenser and Ondaatje this weekend!

Everything as usual

I went to the ceremony and I'm really glad I did because it was really nice, and the speeches weren't long and stuffy but then the chemistry professor told everyone that if they didn't graduate college they could at least MARRY someone who graduated from college.

Which set my scary English Professor OFF. I think she may still be in the courtyard griping about it right this minute. And really now... what the F??

But anyway it was nice and only one hour long, and the kids even seemed to be okay with it. And maybe something got through to them because as soon as I met up with them after, the first thing Buffy tells me is that her counselor told her she can still get into a four-year college. And as many times as Buffy gets herself grounded, she HAS been pulling through in school... and if she ever really set her mind to it she could really surpass MY accomplishments in school, that's for sure.

So maybe I should force them to go to ALL my awards ceremonies, hee.

Anyway, this weekend I'm holed up by myself so I can churn out 8000 words of research, but OF COURSE I NOW HAVE A COLD. Because what is a semester end without BEING SICK?

God Bless Tylenol Cold medicine.

Anti-Socialness kicking in

Dudes, I don't even know what to wear to tomorrow's Dean's Scholar ceremony. I know what building it's in but don't know where exactly I'm supposed to go. Blah. I just want to sit at home and do my papers. But I have at least two professors there expecting me to show up. Ah well.

The best essay comments I've ever received

On my first essay for The Faerie Queene I just received an A and these comments:

"This is quite a tour de force! Your essay is original and well argued and extremely thorough. Nice Work! A"

Those are the best comments I've ever ever received. It's going to be hard to live up to that with my second essay, heh.

Back I go to writing it. Blah.

Schooooool

It appears that I have two 3000 word research papers and an 8 page essay all due on May 5.

I guess I better get on that.

Short update

Today I had a Spanish exam and believe I got 100% on it - so YAYYYYY. Also, less than 30 more days of Spanish and I never have to study it again - WOOOOOOO.

I just joined Jillian Michaels weight loss program through Facebook. Immediately I received the instructions "Do any cardio today, 30-60 minutes". And it was funny how my brain instantly reacted: "Oh, okay, Cardio! Today I do 30-60 minutes of cardio! YES Jillian!" It was as if she was right here kicking my butt.

So we'll see how this goes. The next 30 days are not going to be easy as I finish school, but I'll do what I can until school is over. THEN I'll kick butt.

Plus: School is almost over - YAYYYYYYY!!!!

WE DID IT!!!

We did it Ya'll!!! We did it, we raised all the money!

The exact amount I am not sure of - there were a few people that did not state the amount they were sending off, so I have them marked at $20. If they sent less (which is FINE) then I'll just cover whatever is left when I look at the balance in a couple weeks. But other than just a few mystery donations, as far as I know we have covered 100%.

Today I sent off a card to Karen to let her know what you all did, and a check to the Utility Company to cover what was sent to me via Paypal.

If anyone wants to send more to help with the next month, of course you are welcome to. But the most important part is that we got her down to zero. She can have a fresh start.

I really can't thank you all enough. I am so proud of ALL MY FRIENDS that came through for this. We had donations from $5 to $135 to just a helpful link that brought more donations in. And I know there were more of you out there who just sent their good thoughts - and they worked! I never imagined on Friday when I typed up that entry that by Monday the bill would be paid.

You make me feel really good about myself and I am proud of what I did and I am proud that I have such wonderful friends. I had tears in my eyes all weekend long as the donations just kept pouring in.

We couldn't make things better, but we could make a huge difference. And we did.
And I just can't stop thanking you.

Pischina's Big Give was a SUCCESS!!!!

I send big sloppy kisses to you ALL

You guys. We are going to completely clear this bill for her. In 48 hours we raised $320 of the $454 bill, and I don't doubt for one second that we'll cover the entire thing.

I really want to thank you all, those of you who have donated already and those of you who still plan to donate. There was not a lot of joy for me in paying the bill over the year because I knew it was really a very very SMALL thing compared to what they were going through. I knew I was helping, but I wasn't going to make the problem go away, and that can leave you feeling very helpless.

But what we are doing now is giving her a fresh new start. And that makes me SO HAPPY that I have done this and that you all ACTUALLY HELPED ME DO IT!!!! For me, this was the best part of the entire good deed, getting you all to participate. I truly hope that you all feel just as good inside as I do.

Tomorrow I will send out a check to the Utility Company to cover what I've received through Paypal so far ($190!) and the rest of the donations were sent directly to the utility company by you. I am also going to send Karen a card letting her know what you all have done.

You have all done such a wonderful thing, I don't even know how to thank you. I get choked up with every notice I receive about the donations. I just want to say Thanks for being a part of this.

Pischina's Big Give

Okay Ya'll, here is the story of Steve Sremac and details of how you all can help me make a difference in this world.

And if anyone can help out by linking to the entry I would appreciate that too. Every little bit helps.

Edited to add: Some people have asked about a Paypall account. If it is easier for you, you can send money to my account at Pischina at Diaryland dot Com, and I will send the check myself. Whichever way is easiest for you. I would like to send a HUGE thank you to those who have already donated -

we have already raised $320!!!

The Man whose music the Angels wanted to hear

Rest in Peace, Steve Sremac. I hope more than anything that your wife will also find peace in the times to come.

To the rest of you: I will be writing about this later and asking a favor of you all. I hope some of you can help with my request.

School is too expensive

Good grief. I was hoping to take Modern English this summer so next semester I only would need one elective and my Capstone Seminar, allowing me to take a graduate level class at the same time.

Summer tuition for one class is $1,106.00. For one freakin class. Plus parking fees and books.
Is taking this class over the summer and getting it out of the way worth what will amount to $1500 in fees? On the other hand, being able to take the grad class next semester will help me finish my Masters a semester earlier, saving $2200 in graduate tuition (PLUS parking, books, blah, etc.).

So I guess when you look at it that way, it's worth it.

I have my Phi Kappa Phi honors ceremony in two weeks, and my Deans Scholar ceremony the week after, and hopefully a scholarship ceremony two weeks later, and then take my GRE exam two weeks later and then turn in my Graduate Apps two weeks later. School is flying by!

Speaking of which, I have an essay on Spenser's Faerie Queene to write this weekend, the beginnings of a research paper for Chaucer, and a WHOLE LOT of Spanish to catch up on.
So I better get crackin.

"Um, no, all that stuff was YESTERDAY."

Kids are great, right?

Make Me a Super Model (**SPOILER ALERT**)

I wasn't 100% into this show but I did follow along and I did like a couple of the models. I always thought Holly had a great look, and I thought the 2nd place girl was one of the best (sorry 2nd-place-Girl, never learned your name), and I loved Ben's dimples. And then the whole Bro-mance thing, which was honestly pretty hot, and then poor Perry and his dumb-ass girlfriend. I mean, the show kind of grew on me at the end.

And in the end, I was kind of surprised that Holly won, but she was pretty great. I honestly thought it was going to be between Ben and Perry, but I think all four of those guys should be able to make a living in the modeling world.

But Perry, dump that bitch. That girl is definitely trouble.

FINISHED!

Posted by Pischina at 10:01 AM | Comments (1)

99% finished

The costumes, they are complete. Or, just about. Dude, I even finished all the hems. It's crazy to the Nth degree. Also, machine needle death tally is now at five. I only need to hand sew a couple inches of a sash, and attach the bracelets to the chain.

I keep looking at them trying to decide if they are truly worth $1500 in tuition money. But the kids seem to be very impressed, and Buffy has been SO HELPFUL with it, putting the dresses on and off every fifteen minutes and standing still while I pin her some more. She's been so cooperative. And the kids friends think they are beautiful too, even Spike's guy friends.

So, tomorrow morning Buffy will put them on and we'll take pictures (it's too dark now) and I'll print them on the printer (and post them for you all too), I print out my statement of intent and all the other forms I need to fill out... and then I drag them off to school.

They don't really hang on a hanger, being togas, but I don't want to just dump them in a bag and I don't have a box. So I'm going to fold them nicely up, put all the paper work in a folder under them, and tie up the bundle with a purple ribbon. That's how I'll turn it in.

It's kind of exciting, because I kind of do think I did a pretty great job. Winning a scholarship is pretty cool. And this is by far the biggest one available from the English Department.

My entire house is covered with glitter (and thread and pieces of fabric)(and beads), and I had to take the brand new super-duper expensive vacuum in for service today because it stopped sucking things up three weeks after I bought it. Well, that also coincided with letting Spike vacuum the garage, so I'm sure there's a connection, but I do have a three year warranty. Anyway, the stupid thing won't be ready until April 11th!!!

So I guess we'll be living in a glitter house for awhile.

I sure want that scholarship.

Thanks Chris and Charleen

I just got April Fooled at work and it was a good one. It felt really good to laugh at work, and I was laughing hard. I still feel happy 1/2 hour later. Good times.
