Merry Christmas!

It's funny, I'm sitting here on the computer at 8:30pm and I didn't even realize it's Christmas Eve! Spike and I were talking this morning about how we really did Christmas right this year, for the first time in a couple years, because Friday really was Christmas Eve for us, and Saturday really was Christmas, and it was wierd on Sunday to think that while we were cleaning up Christmas Mess, the rest of the world was still shopping! They are with their dad and his family now, and will be until tomorrow. Aside from being pissed off about work, it was a great weekend. I think we may just do that every year, have our own weekend of Christmas. It sure beats shuffling around from family to family.

Of course, one of Buffy's presents still hasn't arrived yet, but that's okay, I gave her a notecard listing what WILL be her present, and she was fine with that.

Merry Christmas to the rest of you!

Still Christmas!

Feeling better, a little calmer, I think I just needed some time away from work. That doesn't change the fact that I need the time away because I do feel taken advantage of sometimes, and it doesn't change the fact that I did everything correctly last week and it's pretty lame and stupid to put blame on me when there was NONE that was deserved.

Haha, maybe I'm not over it, yet, haha. But it's still a holiday.

Christmas is still going great, the kids were absolutely thrilled to get the computer, and the Buff and I have scheduled 2 hours on, 2 hours off, while Spike is off playing with his friends.

And now I go back to playing Sims2.

watched "knocked up"

Relaxing a bit more, watching "Knocked Up" for the first time... it's funny and all, but I hardly think it's the best movie I've ever seen, I'm a little surprised... Maybe it's residual anger, hahaha. I'm slowly letting go of the anger I had earlier, but if I think about it it comes back, so I'm trying to just let it go so I can enjoy my weekend and get back to work happily next week. I still love my job, but sometimes work can stress you out, ya know? Well it's tough when I can't even vent a little to anyone. So then it builds up and then it EXPLODES, haha.
Anyway, I'll be okay. Tomorrow is Christmas! Hurray!

Waiting for Santa Claus

Presents are all opened, everyone is happy, and I feel better now.
If I could just rant every once in awhile I could get it all out of me in a much better way.

Now I have to stay up until after Spike goes to bed so Santa can drag out the big boxes. Last year I had to set my alarm to 4am and put stuff out then. Hopefully Spike will get tired early tonight.

Funny thing, the biggest hits of the evening were the Marshmallow Blasters that I bought them (in a fit of braindeadness). Turns out they shoot those suckers pretty hard, too.

Anyway, all is happy now and I'm just going to put work behind me until Monday. Buffy is enjoying the fact that I am allowing her phone priviledges and visitors through vacation, and she didn't even argue when I said she still wasn't allowed to leave the house, and Spike is out gallavanting the neighborhood with his marshmallow blaster. And I'm sitting here in PEACE.

Earlier I was watching the news and there were SO MANY stories about families whose homes caught fire today, and either someone died, or the five year old twins are in critical condition... the fire stories were relentless. So sad. I couldn't stand it anymore and had to turn the news off. I can't imagine the pain, and wish this stuff didn't happen at Christmas time... Or ever.
:-(

More good news:

Smells like some wonderful pizza in here... it's still in the oven though... MMMMMMmmmmmmm

Posted by Pischina at 6:24 PM | Comments (0)

oh this is funny:

So now there's a work email that explains what we're supposed to do when the same situation happens that I had the problem with. Only, I asked for that process at 11:30am, and was told to wait for someone else to give direction, only that person wasn't available until 4pm, but now it looks like it was ME who caused this problem, when I absolutely tried to find out exactly what to do AND WAS TOLD TO WAIT.

So again, fuck you to everyone at work. Except Charleen.

And Merry Christmas to the rest of you! Including Charleen! Yay! And the kids are home! Spike is making Pizza! Buffy is eating cheese and crackers! Presents are waiting!

Posted by Pischina at 5:53 PM | Comments (0)

And the addendum:

Also, I got all A's. Five of them.

I told the kids and they said: "yay."

"Well, two of the A's were A-, does that make you happier?

Buffy: No, that just makes you human.

But finally:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Posted by Pischina at 5:48 PM | Comments (0)

BUT THEN!!

THEN!! I check my work inbox and see that sometimes the people I work with (except Charleen) are assholes, as much as I love them otherwise, they are assholes.

I try really hard not to vent about work here because the person I would normally vent to on a friend-to-friend basis is actually our boss, and I don't like feeling like SHE thinks I want her to fix things, sometimes we just need to vent so we don't get STRESSED OUT ABOUT ASSHOLES. But today, because it's Christmas Eve (for me) and I haven't drunk enough yet to forget about these problems at work, I am going to vent anyway. Charleen needs to cover her ears and close her eyes when she sees this post, because she is not allowed to involve herself in any way!!!!!!!!!

I AM A FUCKING PART TIME WORKER. I WORK FOUR HOURS A DAY. I GET HALF THE PAY OF EVERY ONE ELSE. But no one ever remembers that. I put out as much work as the full time workers, and I don't have a problem working so hard... UNTIL!! I start getting taken advantage of. It really makes me ANGRY that I am then expected to put out full time work every single day. It makes me angry that I am assigned the same amount of over time hours as the full time workers. It makes me angry that we were told to not take vacation this month, SO I DIDN'T, but JUST LIKE EVERY SINGLE OTHER FUCKING YEAR, everyone else did, leave ME to work the over time hours ALL CHRISTMAS WEEK. And like EVERY SINGLE OTHER FUCKING YEAR, I get no vacation this month, but everyone else does.

Then, TODAY, the day I was GIVEN PERMISSION to work 10-2pm, I have been embroiled in some problem that I did not create, someone ELSE ON MY TEAM started this problem, and this caused me to not only work frantically until 2:30, but then after my trip to State Farm and Wells Fargo, I had to get back online to make MORE phone calls and send MORE emails, when not only am I OFF WORK, but someone ELSE on the team is supposed to cover the over time hours. And THEN, I see all these emails from 4:30 on saying "Since Pischina has already left I guess WE'LL have to do this" like I EVER WORK AT 4:30, and then I see an email "I looked this up and it IS renewed, we need to CHECK things like this", BUT I DID CHECK IT AND I CHECKED IT AGAIN AND IT IS NOT RENEWED. SO FUCK YOU to everyone at work!! (Except Charleen, who is NOT READING this).

It's MY CHRISTMAS EVE. IT'S MY HOLIDAY. GIVE ME SOME FUCKING TIME WITH WHAT LITTLE FAMILY I HAVE. It makes me even angrier to know that everyone else at work has their parents, and their husbands, and not only do I not have any of that but this is the only day I have to spend with my kids for Christmas, SO GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK. It's not like anyone is going to be around to do ANY work when I have the overtime hours because THEY ARE ALL ON VACATION. WITH THEIR FAMILIES. So why is it suddenly my problem to work overtime today too???

Okay. Sorry. No more caps, no more swearing. That's what happens when you can't vent to anyone. But I'm done now. The Buff and Spike should be home any minute now (where ARE they???) and then it's Christmas.

Charleen, you can start listing and reading again now.

And then...

So then Wells Fargo calls me back, and I get all the apologies again, and they tell me they've kicked things up to the highest of the higher ups, and they will CALL ME TOMORROW.

Like they told me last week.
And the week before that.

So a big fat WHATEVER to Wells Fargo.

The Buff escapes the firing line

So then at 5pm I realize that Buffy, who is grounded, and got out of school at noon, is still not home. And I'm trying very hard to remain calm and not be angry with her, because it's Christmas Eve, but it was very very very hard to find a reason to not be angry with her.

So I called her father.

And Buffy answered.

"BUFFY!! What are you doing at dad's house??"

"It's Friday... I'm supposed to be here..."

"But... But... YOU NEVER GO, like EVER, so today you pick Christmas Eve to do what you're told?"

Buffy: "... are you mad at me? Mom, you told me I had to come here on Fridays..."

No, no I wasn't mad at her, I was absolutely relieved that I didn't have to be mad at her. So relieved that Christmas Eve was not going to be ruined by my lovely daughter who can't help it that she is 15 and "not fully cooked yet", as Judge Judy says, and as Charleen says: Buffy has half her father's genes, so we have to expect that she's going to do some not-very-bright things sometimes.

Anyway, Spike is picking her up right now. Then he's going to make home-made pizza, because that's one tradition we're managing to keep from my mom. And I have a table spread out with crackers and cheese, cookies, fudge, almond rocha, and sparkling cider. And mudslide for me. Lots. With ice.

And then we open presents. HURRAY!!!

Merry F***ing Christmas

I threw such a stinking fit at the bank a few minutes ago that a manager is now personally looking into my complaints after running after me in the parking lot and trying to calm me down.

Also, due to stupid child sharing issues, tonight is Christmas Eve for my kids and me, and tomorrow morning is Christmas Day. So I am frantically trying to get everything ready while dealing with problems at work that are NOT MY FAULT, yelling at Wells Fargo for their CRAPTASTIC customer service, and trying to find out why I got a cancellation notice from State Farm for non-payment when I DID pay, IN THE OFFICE AND DIRECTLY TO A PERSON - but of course, State Farm is already ON HOLIDAY.

So here we go, TIME TO POUR THE DRINKS. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Jillian Michaels is my Love Monkey

I had my last finals today ---- HURRAY, semester is over!!!
I didn't do really fantastic on my Spanish or Shakespeare finals, but I wrote a great 12 page essay in mythology. I had pretty firm A's before the finals, so I'm going to assume my grades will be okay - and I'll be all right if I get a B, honestly.

Biggest Loser finale was on tonight - I love that show so much and LOVE LOVE LOVE Jillian Michaels. I want her to come yell at me until I lose 50 pounds. I am so glad another season is starting already on January 1. I already cannot wait.

And finally I would like to give Thanks to the Spears family for providing me with so much entertainment in 2007 and for making sure that entertainment will continue on through 2008. Poor Momma Spears... She thought she had finally gotten it done right with her youngest... how embarrassing to be in the middle of writing a parenting book when all this mess happens.

Do I feel bad for them? Not really. Yeah, it could happen to any family... but you have to admit there's an awful lot of stupid in that one. I guess money can buy an education but it sure can't buy brains.

Almost Christmas, Almost no School

Spanish final tomorow,
Shakespeare and Mythology final Tuesday, then I'm done with school.

Christmas shopping almost done, ordered lots online as usual, but we moved our Christmas up to this Friday/Saturday (due to child-sharing issues) and I'm not positive all our presents will arrive on time. So we may be opening presents on Friday, Saturday and also Tuesday. Heh.

It's been a stressful week. I can't believe I'll be on a cruise to Mexico with Scott in 24 days. It will be a needed vacation, for sure.

Sleeping with the lights on

I took Buffy and her friend to see "I am Legend".
I thought it was about the last man on earth,
I didn't know it was a freakin scary movie.
Stupid freaking scary flesh eating zombie scary movie.

It was good though. Had some logic problems, but overall, good.

The semester isn't quite over yet though

My last final is still on Tuesday, so I'm not done studying, just have the paper done. Which is a RELIEF. Now I only have to brush up on seven Shakespeare plays (NOT Troilus and Cressida!) and study seven chapters of Spanish.

No problema!

Oh, and the Buff managed to get herself grounded for all of Christmas Vacation, just like I hoped she would, so now I don't have to worry about what sorts of new trouble she'll be getting in this December. Because she'll be safe at home watching TV.

Like all teenage girls should be.

Troilus is DEAD

It's done, I cannot believe it, but the paper that took me 365 days to write is DONE and Spike is at school printing it out for me right this moment.

The professor and another student and I are going to celebrate the end of our Ovid class "with libations" and I bet it will take me half a glass of wine before I put my head on the table and fall asleeeee...... ZZZZzzzzzzzz....zzzzzz....

Posted by Pischina at 11:16 AM | Comments (0)

Lordy Lordy

I cannot believe I actually have this stupid Troilus and Cressida paper 60% done, and I've been given a Thursday deadline so I may actually have an A paper to turn in. Unbelievable. Last night at 10pm I was about ready to throw in the towel and accept a 0 with a B for a total grade, as the professor offered. But I decided to drink another cup of coffee and stayed up til 1am doing more research, so that now I actually have the beginnings of a good paper. This morning the professor offered the Thursday deadline. So awesome.

So finals Thursday and next Monday and Tuesday. To study I have to go over one Shakespeare play each day and one Spanish chapter each day. And read about 400 pages of The Metamorphoses, but I'm afraid Sparknotes will have to help with that one. Then add about 3 hours of work on the Troilus paper, and in seven days I'll be done with this semester.

YAHOOOOO!!!

Almost over

Goodness, the blog has gotten pretty boring, eh?
Don't worry, school work should be over by Monday. Or so.

I still want to write a little about Thanksgiving, and other things. Soon. Not yet. I still have to kick Troilus' ass in this research paper.

Thursday, 4:30pm

A Break

Wow, it didn't take long after Mr. Whipple's death for Charmin to gather a bunch of old clips of him to paste together in a blatant attempt to capitalize on his image by tugging on our heartstrings and getting us to buy their stupid toilet paper.

I hope Mr. Whipple's family is being compensated for this new commercial, but somehow I doubt it.
