Sharing the whine
Charleen wants you all to know that she is more tired than I am, and gets less sleep too. So everyone take out your violins and play for her now.

sleeeeeeeeeeeeppp....zzzzzzz
The best part about finishing those papers is that now I can get to bed before 1am. I'm sorry but I cannot operate a full time school schedule and a part time work schedule and chase those kids around on only 5 hours of sleeeeeeeeeppppp... zzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

That is IT for what is due this week. This weekend I have to read one half of Ovid's Metamorphoses, all of The Winter's Tale by Shakespeare, and two thirds of "Till We Have Faces" by CS Lewis.
Then I have:
10 page paper on Troilus and Creyssida, the paper that will never die.
Presentation in Spanish.
Presentation in Mythology.
Presentation in Shakespeare.
And then I'm done except for Finals!
(Sorry Rachael, I cannot do your paper too... unless you want to trade for the Troilus paper!)

School
I am 3/4 finished with my mythology paper which means I am almost completely done with my work for this semester, and this boggles my mind! And makes me happy!!!!
If I can get this mythology paper knocked out I know I can get that crappy Troilus paper finished.
And then Projects times three.
Almost there!

Beowulf
I took the kids to see Beowulf.
*Sighhhhh...*
I should have known, I should have listened.
A stand alone good movie? Maybe. Followed the book? Not even CLOSE.
Note to young people: if you are assigned the book, don't go see the movie instead... you'll be screwed.

Good gradessssss!
So, remember last week when I had two exams that I just could not get ready for, and had accepted that I was going to get 2 F's on and then I took them and thought I may have actually done okay?
Mythology = 85%
Spanish = 91.5%
YAYYYY
Also, signed up for my classes for next semester:
Literary Criticism
Advanced Composition
The Age of Elizabeth
Spanish 4
I have finished my Spanish essay and I think it will get an A. I am about to write my review of a production of Midsummer Night's Dream that I watched with my professor and some others in my class (it was SOOOOO GOOOD!!!!!), and then I get extra credit for the review. I still have a presentation proposal for that class that's due the week after Thanksgiving.
This weekend I'll be writing my Mythology paper that I've been researching so hard, I think I can get an A on that too.
Then I have to quickly write a stupid Troilus and Cressida paper, and if I never hear the names of those two again it will be too too too too soon.
After that: Presentations in Mythology, Shakespeare and Spanish.

Back home to study
Goodbye Hotel Montgomery.
My Shakespeare paper is almost complete, my mythology paper is well on its way. It was a weekend well spent, and I can definitely see why writers live in cabins in the woods. It was great having no distractions, and I never could have gotten this much work done at home, even alone.
If you ever need a room in San Jose, I definitely recommend the Hotel Montgomery. It's been a great, quiet weekend.

That's what I get for watching P2 and Criminal Minds
I really want to go around the corner and get some ice for the ice bucket, because it tastes SOOO much better than the water from the bathroom sink, but after watching P2 and also Criminal Minds I would much rather just sit in my room with all the lights on and the door heavily locked.
So I continue to drink my bathroom sink water.

One step forward, one step back
11:39pm, Shakespeare essay is 60% complete.
Checked my homework notes, I also have 10 pages of Hero and Leander to read, by Christopher Marlowe - who I HATE.
Sighhhhh. Who knows, maybe I'll like this one.
So I continue to type.

10:21pm, still working
Shakespeare paper half typed and 2/3 finished.
I just realized I also have a short story (Cupid and Psyche by Lucius Apuleius) to read, but that's not due until Wednesday. And the papers are going to have to take priority.

Hibernating with my laptop for the weekend
I may have mentioned that I have two 10-page papers due by November 20th, and another 10-pager two weeks after that, and three presentations the weeks after Thanksgiving. So I canceled my weekend with Scott because I HAVE to concentrate and get this stuff done.
But it's also my birthday weekend.
So I checked into the Hotel Montgomery for the weekend, in a huge room that I got for real cheap with a Cinequest discount. I think that discount is only supposed to be good during the weeks that Cinequest is here, but it worked and I got a damn good deal. Free internet access, no distractions such as dirty dishes or clutter. Very cheap and delicious food within walking distance. It's actually one of the best spots downtown, and if they didn't charge so damn much during Cinequest (quadruple!!!) we'd stay here then.
Anyway. I am having a lovely quiet time researching and typing. I have two papers one third done, but really more when you count research results. I am still going to have to cram typing and research next weekend, but it will be better.
So anyway, that's where I am. Until tomorrow at noon when I check out. Hopefully with two 10-pagers well on their way to being finished.
I also took a quick break to watch P2. Which was, ...you know. Mindless, scary fun with no intelligent thought needed, and a satisfying, fiery ending.
And thanks to everyone who sent happy birthday wishes - I loved them ALL.

South Park Guitar Hero
South Park + Guitar Hero = AWESOME
That was Hilarious. But only if you've played Guitar Hero. Otherwise you just would not understand.

Pass the booze please
I really need to start drinking more.
Alcohol.
Much more.
And not stop until La Buff hits 18.
*****
In other news, I went to school today thinking I was going to get a big fat F on my two exams today. Instead, I think I got roughly half right in Mythology (yeah, still an F but not a zero!) and possibly an A in Spanish. So a crappy day turned into a great day turned immediately into a really crappy day after Buffy got in trouble again. Blah. Boo to teenagers.

Glub Glub *GASP*
I am currently drowning in schoolwork. I was trying to update the journal more often, but I'm going to have to take a break from that. I have two 10-page papers due by Nov 20, another 10 pager due two weeks later, three Shakespeare plays to read, a Spanish exam Wednesday, an exam on La Morte DArthur on Wednesday, presentations due in Shakespeare and Spanish and on and on and on.
So I will be taking a three week break from this.
(Well, maybe not on Thursday which is..... MY BIRTHDAY)
Heee.

Blood Car
Last year at Cinequest we saw an awesome movie called Blood Car. I didn't want to see it, the previews were horribly gory. But Spike saw it and convinced me it was hilarious so I saw it - and LOVED it. It is gory, but in such a funny way it's not realistically bloody at all.
So anyway, I just got a notification that it is coming out on DVD on November 6, at Amazon.com AND Netflix. So this is me telling you, SEE this movie. Put it on your Netflix. You will not regret it!
This is Netflix' description, and it is pretty accurate:
This gory satire of horrifying dimensions from director Alex Orr is set in a world where gas prices have reached $40 a gallon. Responding with good old-fashioned American ingenuity, a kindergarten teacher invents a car that consumes human blood. An absurdist take on the world's current addiction to oil, Orr's debut feature evokes both screams and shrieks -- followed by uncontrollable laughter.
Like I said, it is bloody, but it is REALLY funny. REALLY funny. So I hope you all get a chance to see it and comment me back that you loved it.
