« IT'S FRIDAY | Main | Happy Halloween! »

We just had a terribly big earthquake, and 20 minutes later I'm STILL shaking, but now that my heart is starting to slow I feel like I'm about to cry. That was huge. Nothing broke - but it was a rolling one (30 seconds long!) it just seemed like it went on forever. It was NOT fun. Californians are pretty blase about earthquakes so I sat in my chair waiting for it to end (the cats hightailed it out of here PRONTO) but eventually I tried to make it to the doorway because I wasn't sure WHAT was going to happen. MANNNNN. I hope there's no aftershocks tonight... I'm just not up for it.

update: AND all the phone lines are down. House phone and cell phones... :-(

That was a bit unnerving. It took me a minute to react and then I started shouting at Alana to get in doorway. Only one thing fell off a shelf and broke so that was one positive.

Good luck sleeping.

Whoa! Mega-shock! I do know what you are talking about--I may not live in earthquake zone now (although we had some 3+ shakers several years ago, everyone flipped because it was a first for this area but y'know? Been there, done that, wasn't thrilled but not crazy like the others, either)...but I lived in Sunnyvale the year a big one leveled Morgan Hill (6.2, 1984). I remember running to the front door to stand in the doorway, and seeing the street *rolling*. Brrr! Things like that you DO NOT forget!

I am SO glad you're ok! Hugs!

That IS scary. The news showed pics of a liquor store in your area that was in complete shambles with lots of broken bottles off the shelves, etc. Glad you're all ok.

We didn't feel it here (at our store), but my parents felt it and so did my Brother and SIL. They live in Alamo & San Ramon, so that's quite a distance from the epicenter.

I can't imagine how it must have felt being as close as you were. Yikes!
