Diet breakfast foods
Okay everyone, I need your help, advice and ideas.
I am really doing well on my diet. But...
I need help with breakfast.
I need ideas for store-bought ready-to-eat items, items I can make at home, and easy to carry with me items. So any ideas you have will help.
Right now my options are oatmeal when I'm at home, and a Luna Bar/Power Bar/something like that for the mornings I have school.
My tummy just doesn't want food when I first get up, but if I don't have something within a couple hours then my tummy starts getting crabby and the diet is easier blown at lunch.
I have a freezer stocked with Lean Cuisines right now, which have pretty much saved the diet as they give me something quick and easy that I don't have to give any thought to when I don't have a dinner or lunch planned. So there's no reason to blow the diet. But mornings are difficult. I like oatmeal, but not every single day for days on end.
I see all kinds of diet dinners and lunches in the store, but nothing for breakfast. Am I blind? Are they there and I just don't see them?
So tell me, please. What are good low calorie or diet brand foods for breakfast?
Keeping in mind that I am up early and off to school by 7am.

Is cooking an egg out of the question? I've noticed that since I started eating an egg in the morning I am much less hungry throughout the day. Maybe even a hard boiled egg if cooking on school days is too much. Keep in mind that it takes less than 5 minutes to make an egg.
I also really like Lara Bars. Not everyone loves the texture, but I like them and they satisfy my desire for something sweet.
There is also low fat fruit yogurts (although I prefer to make my own using jams that are low in sugar), but I would watch the carbs because they can be loaded with sugar, which doesn't impact the calories that much, but why eat a lot of sugar if you don't have to?
I'm not always in the mood for traditional breakfast food so sometimes I do a piece of fruit and string cheese or half a turkey sandwich (whole wheat bread, mustard, turkey).
I'm like you, not wanting to eat anything for breakfast. My tummy just doesn't want it.
I'm not sure if you have them there in the states but here in Canada we've got these Carnation Breakfast Anytime drinks, they've got all the nutrition and calories of a breakfast, but they are like a milkshake.
I like the powders (the can's taste like ass) that you make yourself, and I like to add a bit of fruit to them, like Chocolate and Strawberry, vanilla and peaches. That sort of stuff. If you have a blender it's easy. Just add milk, powder and cut fruit. Yummy and the tummy is happy.
Once in a while when I'm super hungry in the morning I'll go for the granola bar that I'm carrying and have a some of that as a snack, that way by the time lunch comes around I'm not feeling like I have to eat everything that I see.
Hope it helps
I can't eat much in the mornings either.. I eat a natural joghurt with some fruit. If I'm in a real hurry it's just the joghurt. It's something in your tummy and you usually get low calorie ones in the stores. My mum eats rusks with a slice of cheese or just a little bit of cottage cheese.
xx
Sometimes I'll have apple slices with thin slices of cheese on them. Filling and not so breakfast like.
When I'm getting ready to leave for work at 3:15 in the morning I usually eat a fruit bar and drink a glass of milk. When I finally go to lunch around 9, I'm still not hungry, but of course I eat to stablize my blood sugar.
Kashi granola bars are SO good. They are also good for you, loaded with protein and fiber. They also lack the sugar/hydrogenated crap the typical bars have. Be careful of the Luna type bars, they have a lot of sugar. There was a good eats on Food network with a great recipe on making your own, without all that junk.
Also, what about yogurt? Even drinkable yogurt? Those are a bit easier to deal with.
I do SlimFast in the morning. (hypocritial here with it's first ingredient sugar), but I am not a milk drinker, so I figure this is better than not drinking milk if I don't have the slimfast. I make it when I first get up, stick it in the freezer, get ready for the day, and drink it on my way to work. By that time it is a bit frosty and so good!
HI! Long time no talk. Anyway, I've been doing Kashi bars and also Special K Strawberry bars. Special K is low in calories, lower than the Kashi. I've been watching caloric intake. The Special K bars hold me over to lunch and sometimes even til dinner, depending on coffee. I'm also using Splenda Coffee Flavours instead of cream and sugar. Creamers and sugar also play a part in diet. I know, I know, the Starbucks ... cofy, cofy, cofy ... I do Starbucks once a month now and that also helps in the cash and saving money.
