Counting down
Four days until the cruise...
Now my tummy needs to settle down and not feel like it's eating itself from the inside. Uggggh. Must be all better before cruise!

On order of Charleen I was told to enter that 100 times in my blog.
You see, we are moving to a different floor in a couple weeks and are getting new cubicles.
Monday I went to see where my new cube will be, and guess where it was? Directly next to that manager that plays loud music, yells curse words, throws the damn beachballs around, and uses a FRICKIN BULLHORN when she's really excited.
My first thought: I'm being punished. Severely. Probably for not attending more Mandatory Funtime Activities.
My second thought: Whatever.
But when Charleen, the best manager in the world, saw the floor plan, she immediately got her team out of the way of that manager. I'm not precisely sure where my cube is now, but I know it's:
a) Not near that manager (WOOO)
b) Near the stairs, making for quick getaways
So: YAYYYYYY for Charleen!

Better!
Not feeling great yet, but my head is clear now. I think it was all due to "that time of the month". And maybe some stress combined. So I wasn't feeling real great for a day or too, then today it really hit me. But this evening my head is clearing, and even if my tummy doesn't feel that great, I feel much better. So Yay for me!

Germs have 11 days to evacuate
I feel like crap and it appears that I am coming down with something very unpleasant. This does not make me happy at all. However, at least I have time to get better. I don't care if I have red spots all over and throw up all over the gangplank, I am getting on that ship.

I are hating your bad grammar
On my way to work today I drove alongside a blue Toyota Corolla with a license plate frame that said:
"I would hate me to"
So here are my thoughts on this.
A) No one is hating you for your blue Toyota Corolla, get over it.
B) There is a difference between "two", "too", and "to". Learn it.
I wanted to take a picture, but I was going down the freeway at 70mph and it wasn't worth it.

Lindsay: Gossip of the Day!
Fresh out of rehab, Lindsay Lohan was arrested last night for chasing a car down the freeway while D-R-U-N-K aaaaaaaaaand forgetting to take the cocaine out of her pocket before they arrived at the police station.
This has to be the best year for "Celebrity It Girls Going DOOOWN" evah!
Britney goes crazy, Paris goes to jail, and Nicole and Lindsay will be doing time before the year is out. Not only do I love the drama, but I love that my teenage daughter and others are finally seeing the consequences of their lifestyle.
Have fun Lindsay.

No, we didn't say "Cat's pajamas"
So there's some stupid commercial on TV, and I don't know what it's for because I missed it, but Buffy saw it, and she asked me if "that's the way it was" when I was young.
"The way what was?" I asked.
Buffy: "You said 'With it' ?"
Me: "With it?"
Buffy: "Yeah, you said Get with it, You have to Be With It."
Me: *thinking* No one says that anymore?? You don't say "with it???"
Me: Um, yeah.
Buffy: And "Jiggy"? You said "Jiggy with it"?
Me: Um, NO. That was Will Smith. Only.
So, uh, commercial for whatever it is, as soon as I find out what you're trying to sell, I'm not going to buy it. Thanks for making me feel old around my daughter. Again.

On to Plan Q
So I'm going to say that TrimSpa just doesn't work.
It was probably after pill one that it sunk in that it wasn't going to work for me anyway. I don't eat a great deal of food anyway, so for TrimSpa to work for me it would have to help me eat nothing. It would have to be like Meth. But what happened was it didn't really have any effect at all. So I'm just going to stop taking them now since I hate pills anyway (and these things are huge suckers).
My next try I think MAY be Jenny Craig or NutriSystem. Perhaps I just need some specially prepared foods. Jeez. I don't know. But I'm going to check into it. I think there's a Jenny Craig right next to my gym. Due to some new scheduling problems with Buffy's summer school I haven't been to the gym this week and I haven't weighed myself in quite awhile. I absolutely have to get activity in every single day or I don't think any progress is going to happen. I think maybe Buffy and I will walk over Yerba Buena road (a very large hill) every day. I think it's about a mile and a half to go all the way over, then we can walk back - that would make 3 miles of hill work. After I do it once and see how hard it is I may take some hand weights with me. I have to be careful with what I take on because no matter how much I go to the gym, I'm still pretty overweight and get out of breath easily - I don't want to overwork myself, just hit the level right before that, heh.
Ah well. If anyone has tried Jenny Craig or NutriSystem and actually followed the plan (with the food) let me know how it went. In the meantime, it's over hill over dale for me.

Oops: it's Playstation 2!
Annie is right, it's for Playstation 2!
Believe it or not, my son and all his friends decided our house was the house to play video games at, so they all brought over ALL THEIR GAME SYSTEMS to my house, and they are all here stacked on top of one another. We have everything. I have no idea what is actually owned by US, haha. So I thought the guitar was plugged into the Nintendo, but it is actually plugged into the Playstation 2.
However, you should LISTEN to me! The game is Dangerous! With a Capital D! It will rule your house and your lives!!!!
Edited to add: OMIGOD, Annie is my best friend from third grade!!!! She found my journal many years ago, but I had no idea she was still reading! *waves* HI ANNIE!!!!!

Guitar Hero II = Evil
Spike, with his paycheck, bought Guitar Hero II for Nintendo. If you have never heard of this game, as I had not, it comes with a plastic electric guitar and you play the music for rock songs, from Primus to Motley Crue to the Stray Cats, even Free Bird.
And it is totally addicting.
I've never heard of some of these songs, like EVER, and would never ever ever listen to them on my own... but I'm a solid rock star when I get that little red guitar in my hands. No one in this house has done ANYTHING since we got this game. Well, we argue a lot over whose turn it is. And we love when Spike needs to go to work, cuz then we get to play more.
I am advising you all: Do not get this game. You will get nothing else done in your life!
(Buffy currently has control of the guitar, that's the only reason I'm on the computer!)

"Joshua" the movie
The Buff and I saw "Joshua" tonight. Creepy as hell. CREEPY. CREEEEEEEPY. The kid is Damien's first cousin creepy.
It was good though, I wasn't sure if it was going to be a horror flick, but it was not. Very very similar in tone (and plot) to a 1960's/70's psychological thriller, i.e. The Omen and The Bad Seed. No gore. Just nervous horror.
If it's playing near you and you like movies like The Bad Seed, this one is for you.

New box of Trimspa
So I went to take my second pill this evening...
And I saw the expiration date on the box.
02/07
And I'm thinking... 02 = February, right? Didn't February already pass? This is 2007, right? And this is July? These pills that I just bought at a reputable chain grocery store aren't REALLY six months past the expiration date, RIGHT?
They were.
I took them back, they told me to get another box. I went to the shelf, the first box I picked up expired 06/08. That's better. I checked another box, it said 02/07. I let the store know, they seemed So! Surprised! So they are going to check the rest.
As for me, I went home and took my second pill.

Buffy can't wait to get her hands on my shirt
So our company changed its logo and has issued t-shirts to all employees. The new logo is a prism.
Otherwise known as a rainbow.
You should see the look on the faces of every single man as they get so excited about their free t-shirt, "WOOO, I love black T-shirts! Gimme gimme gimme!! .....ummmm. This on the front... is a... I'm not wearing this t-shirt!"
I said something nonchalantly about the "rainbow" to one of the girls in charge of this whole thing and I was STERNLY corrected. It's NOT a rainbow, it's a PRISM.
HEEE.
It's a rainbow. Definitely a rainbow.

Big Brother 8
Buffy and I agreed that Big Brother was much better last night. But because I don't bother keeping a good eye on the feeds when there are so many people in the house, I don't know how much of the storylines were fabricated. But Nick went waaaaaay up in my opinion, Jen is too hilarious to get rid of, I still like Dick and Danielle, Buffy and I both think Dustin is the cutest...
And though I would absolutely hate Jessica in real life, she is Number One entertainment for me on this show.
"Bye Carol! See you at the high-school reunion in ten years."
I LOVE that girl's snarkiness.
P.S. Amber, God doesn't care about the Big Brother show, okay? Try praying a little quieter and not in a loud voice directly into your microphone. P.P.S. You're an idiot.

Poor Kitty Kitty
Poor Pischina-Kitty, her life really is a living hell for her right now. She can't really eat with the cone on so I take it off of her twice a day and she gulps down as much food and water as she can. She doesn't seem to mind her medicine drops, so she's much better in that department than Phoebe-kitty is. But the cone is driving her insane. I mean, I think she may really be insane by the end of the two weeks. To her little walnut brain, it's like there are invisible walls all over her world that she keeps bumping into. She keeps putting her head low to the ground as she walks, I think to try to go under the invisible walls she keeps hitting, but then the cone just hits the carpet or ground, which makes her feel like her world is even smaller. Talk about claustrophobia! Poor kitty...
But the worst part is that no one has any sympathy for her. Phoebe-kitty is so fluffy and lovable, when she was sick everyone was worried about her and gave her lots of love. Pischina-kitty is as cranky and antisocial as her owner (me) so seeing her trying to deal with kitty-life while wearing a cone around her neck just makes everyone laugh. Or as Buffy put it: "That's what you get."
Poor kitty.
But still. She IS hilarious.

Not by a million miles am I Anna Nicole Smith
Thank you to everyone who is concerned about me taking Trimspa. I think it's a bit premature to be too concerned though. I only got a little package of them, and you take several a day, so it's probably only a week or 2 week supply. The likelihood that I'll continue with them is small as I hate pills of any kind, really don't need the extra caffeine, and I'll be off on a cruise in 26 days. I'll be bored with these pills in a week, I'm sure.
No, my body type is not changing in any way but rounder. I rarely get on the scale unless I remember at the gym, but random checks there show a rising number, and so do the tags on my always new clothes.
I keep moving. I am at the gym at least three days a week, usually five. I push myself hard when I am there. I feel it working, it just doesn't seem to be burning calories.
In four years I have gained now sixty pounds. In four years. I am 90 pounds heavier than when I got married (though I was pretty thin then and have no intention of ever being THAT thin again). My weight training class last semester seemed to slow the gain to a crawl, but I still gained.
I'm going to try the Trimspa no matter what. I'm going to try it. I am not sure what else to do, but you can be sure a doctor visit is in the future if the gain doesn't stop.
It really does seem like my metabolism has stopped. Because even if I don't eat a minimum of calories now, I don't over eat and I am probably exercising more than any of you. I am forty years old - too old to go on a 800 calorie diet and do 3 hour gym days 7 days a week JUST TO KEEP MY WEIGHT STEADY, ya know? I'm starting to feel like: What if I work extra EXTRA hard to get this weight off, and then my body won't keep it off??
That's worrisome.
And I don't have an answer for that yet. But I'm not giving up.
So I'm going to take the damn Trimspa pills for a couple weeks, or even up until the cruise, then we'll see what happens. The ship has a gym there and a running track, so I am excited to to keep on exercising there, we have Plenty-O-Activities planned while we're in port, and not even a cruise is going to turn me into a big eater because I'm just not.
In the meantime, ya'll don't worry so much about me. You know I have sense. I may not use it when it comes to boys (thank God Scott came along), but when it comes to my body I am pretty smart. So don't worry, and I'll keep you posted on my progress.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
There is not much funnier in this world than watching a cat with a cone around its neck.
I'll get a picture posted this afternoon, but you really need to see video.
Pischina-kitty had the infection lanced and she is mad at the world right now - which is usual for her anyway, heh. She has this clear plastic cone around her neck and is spending her time looking very angry and walking backwards through the entire house. HEEEEEEE it is Hilarious.
But it's not like she's dieing, she's going to be just fine, so I gave her her antibiotics and came to work. She is one unhappy kitty right now though.

Good Housekeeping Magazine
Last night at the grocery store I also picked up a Good Housekeeping magazine because it has something like "7 women who lost 2000 pounds without surgery!" or something similar. And I like those stories because they are pretty inspiring to get your butt moving.
Some women used Weight Watchers, some Slim Fast, one lady just started jumping rope: only 10 skips the first day until now she does 2500 each day in less than an hour. They are ideas at least, and I know the jumping rope does work (I lost all pregnancy weight by jumping rope and continued losing ten more pounds in the first three months being pregnant with Buffy). It's just tough to jump rope with giant boobs, haha. I don't want to have to wear a sports bra all day every day - then again, I may try.
But anyway, I bought the magazine with approval from Spike. Spike is so helpful with everything, I love him. He was reading the labels of all the diet pills I was looking at, expressing his concern with each one and asking questions. He is always very game to help or participate in anything I want to do, especially if it is for my health. I just love that boy to death.

Feline Sibling rivalry
Pischina-kitty does not want to be outdone in the attention department, so she is going to the vet today too.
When I came home Sunday I saw she had a scratch on her chin. Yesterday it started to look swollen, and by last night she had a giant cyst under her chin. Today she is very cranky and you can tell it hurts her. So off to the vet we go.
The vet may be surprised though that this kitty is not as friendly as Phoebe-kitty. Phoebe is loveable. Pischina only loves me. She is pretty scared of everyone else.

My choke pills
At the grocery store I picked up some Trimspa. I feel like such a sell-out. But I'm going to try it. The side effects sound better than that stupid Alli stuff (crapping your pants) (No, I never tried Alli). I just have to make sure I drink lots of water so the pill doesn't expand in my esophagus. Heh. I can drink water though. Also, it says it may cause "feelings of anxiety" which most people will tell you I don't need any extra of.
But regardless, I'm trying it. I can't figure out what else to do. The gym doesn't seem to be helping. I feel the cardio effects, and I feel stronger, but the weight is not going down. It's like my metabolism just stopped three years ago. The pounds just keep piling on. I don't eat a lot and I don't eat many bad foods. There are certainly ways to cut down, but not really enough to make much of a difference. So I'm going to take that extra step and just try some Trimspa.
It's certainly better than crapping my pants, that's for sure.

My good boy
Spike went grocery shopping with me today. We were out of everything, but it was too hot to go anywhere before. I didn't even want to go today, but it was hard to deny there was only tortillas and cheese in the fridge. So off we went. Left Buffy at her friend's house. We had a good time. I love spending time with my boy.

I write out my frustrations so I don't kill anyone
As luck would have it, today was Mandatory Funtime Activity at lunch.
Heeeee.
At least today there was an actual reason, but I avoided it like the plague anyway. I only work 4 hours a day so I don't get a lunch hour. I got my lunch and ate it at my desk while I worked, like always. After I finished eating one of my team members came to "come get me" (grab my arm and drag me) so I could participate. But like I said, it wasn't that bad today, and at least there was a legitimate reason for it. And I got to sit at a table with only my team members, so that was good. So I sat in the sun for an hour having nice conversation, and then I was set free to come back and do my work.
Luckily, I got my frustrations with these things out of me by writing last night and this morning, so I was relaxed and not frustrated. So chalk up a point for this blog - it allowed me to cope at work today, heh.

But if you forget that you just rubbed lotion all over your hands and THEN try to put contact lenses onto your eyeballs, you are thisclose from blinding yourself.

The San Diego Zoo
I didn't really talk about the zoo before, but seeing an elephant on TV just now reminded me.
I saw elephants! Blowing water on themselves!!!
Hee. Yes, I loved the zoo.
We saw beautiful kangaroos, the hugest turtles, giraffes, POLAR BEARS, monkeys...
The hugest bat I've ever imagined, its wingspan was easily 18-24 inches. I never saw a bat that big in a movie. I'd freak out if that thing was flying around my hair.
There were two kinds of monkeys in a huge netted area. They were chasing each other all around. "Oh how Cute!!!" Then one of the monkeys caught another monkey and tried to mount her - against her will - and the uh, penis came out... and the female escaped and RAN. And he chased her! And we realized all the male black monkeys were the ones chasing the females and all the other grey monkeys. The little grey monkeys didn't look that happy - especially when they had their tails grabbed by the black ones. As we left one of the monkeys carefully studied another's behind... we thought we knew what was coming... but no, he just picked a bug out of the butt and ate it.
Ew.
We saw beautiful geckos and other lizards, beautiful birds... we missed the pandas, lions and tigers. But we saw hippos, a rhino, llamas, lots of pigs, hogs and warthogs, some okapi.
I loved it. SO much. We turned a corner and I yelled "GIRAFFES!!!" like a little kid. "POLAR BEARS!!!" "ELEPHANTS!!!"
And the elephant put his nose in the water and gave himself a shower.

Cooler morning
I woke up this morning feeling like I wrote my entries last night while hot, tired and all fuzzed up on allergy medication. Although I already have comments that show ya'll did understand me, I wanted to clarify it just a little.
Companies seem to want to blur the line between family and work. I completely understand that if you want to climb the ladder you must put in extra time with the higher-ups. But if you are a lower-down you should not be made to feel antisocial because you don't want to hang out with other lower-downs outside of work. And again: I am antisocial. And I don't like everyone I work with. But the sole reason I don't want to participate is because I would rather be at home with my family than anyone at work. My family is my family, my work is where I work my ass off to get paid.
Sometimes, at my particular company, it seems like more emphasis is placed on participating in activities than in how good a job you do. And my boss will know what I'm talking about here. There are a few workers in my area of the office who in no stretch of the imagination are working their asses off. But they participate in the funtime activities. So they are good workers because they participate.
Now, I'm not being punished for anything, so again I'm not speaking specifically about me, I just don't get the logic. And I don't get the logic of the workers who follow along with this idea that the company is their family. Do these people not have friends or family outside of work? A hobby maybe??
So that's it. I see the commenters do get it, I guess I'm just afraid Ms.Boss is going to read it and freak out that I'm complaining, but I just wanted to write it out and see if others understand the logic. Because here's the thing:
When I leave the company (when most people leave the company), the company is not going to hear from me again and they will not miss me in a year. If something happens to a family member and I didn't spend all the time I could with that person, I will never forget that. Work is where you work your ass off and you should get rewarded for THAT. Family is the people you love and want to spend time with. That line really should not be blurred and no one at work should be made to feel like an outsider because they just want to work their asses off so they can spend time with their family.
The end.
:-D

Mandatory Funtime Activities
Although my boss reads this I'm going to post it anyway cuz it has nothing to do with her and is really just broad commentary on corporate life in America.
I don't get the whole Workplace = Family thing. For me? My family is Spike and Buffy and my aunt and my grandparents. My company is where I go to work. My coworkers are the people who work at the same place I do. My family includes the people I love and want to spend my time with. The people I go to work for. My coworkers are not the people I should have to spend time with during non-working hours.
Luckily, I really do like my immediate work team. A lot. And I don't mind going to dinner with them or doing outside things with them because they are like friends. But the majority of the people I work with, while nice people, are not my friends. (Note: there is a difference between "not a friend" and "enemy". A definite difference, and I don't have enemies at work.) But I would never give up a Saturday to spend with even my Team if I have a choice of being with my family or boyfriend instead.
I choose to spend my valuable free time with my kids. Not my coworkers. And I should not be made to feel like I am not a "team player" if I feel like spending time at home with my family instead of with my coworkers. If I was trying to climb the corporate ladder then I understand putting in that extra time, but even if I was a regular full time worker who wanted to stay at the company my entire life - I still have a family at home, they are the reason I am working.
There's no reason why I'm typing this right now, nothing has come up at work.. it's probably more of a constant feeling I have I guess, that I'm always seen as the uncooperative, non-inclusive, antisocial non-team player in my office. And while I don't deny that I'm antisocial, I am a team player (with my TEAM, not my entire 4000 employee company!!) and I work my ass off when I am in the office. That should be seen as a Plus. It really should. I put more work into my four hours than most of the 8 hour a day people I work with. Not a false claim there. And that is what should count. It really is the only thing that should count - and I honestly work my ass off.
I hate writing things about my job now because my friend is my boss and I don't want this to look like I'm passive-aggressively complaining about my job here. Because I'm not. But it does bother me, a lot sometimes, and writing about things makes me feel better, so today I'm going to write it all out so I can feel better and try to get over it a little.
I don't even understand why I am the only one who seems to feel this way. What do all you out in computerland feel? Since you cover the range of the world and business classes. Do you all think you should be made to put extra time in to outside activities? I'm not talking a company picnic or Christmas party, I'm talking beyond that. Now that I think of it, my last company had some outside activities, but if you wanted to go you went, and if you didn't no one cared. Here I feel like... not that there is pressure, but if you don't go, you are an outsider. Not a team player.
So anyway, I already feel better. Just needed to write this out. I wish no one from work had any access to this so I could vent more comfortably, but such is life. I love my boss and she puts no pressure on me to participate. But beyond being about me, I just don't get it. I don't get why employees are looked down upon if they don't participate. I don't get why employees aren't judged on work activities - as opposed to non-work activity participation.
And now ya'll are bored out of your mind and probably quit reading. Which is fine too. I'm done though.

Back from Aptos
It was a good weekend. The wedding was super fun! Although the bride and groom are BOTH super-duper-rich, the wedding was not over the top, it was a very nice wedding that could have been anyone's. I like that, weddings like that focus more on the couple getting married than the display of wealth and excess. It was beautiful. The bride was beautiful, but she's always beautiful. The groom looks more like his dad every day, and his dad is super handsome and was very proud and emotional. They are a good family. I was right at the edge of too-much-wine at the reception, but I did not cross the line, so there was much fun. Spent time with Scott's family and some old co-workers that I see every year at the Christmas party. There were three old female co-workers I was unpleasantly surprised to see, but I was able to get through all three encounters well (by completely ignoring one, having a nice conversation with another, and restraining myself from calling the third a "dumb ignorant bitch" [yes, I was proud of myself]). But I had a good time with the other co-workers and family, and of course with Scott. Pictures on Flickr, though not many and not clear - I promise to get a good camera for Mexico!
By the way - 28 more days!!!!

P.S. Sad
If anyone else reads Pink Is The New Blog (and if you don't, then you should start), it looks like Trent and his boyfriend have broken up. If you do read it, you'll know that is really sad news, and my little heart breaks for him. I hope he gets over it soon, and I hope everyone out there keeps good thoughts for Trent because he has always seemed like a really really good person. That is all. I'm out.

Miscellaneous
Every one of my Fall classes are now WaitListed. I'm so glad I'm enrolled in each one. 14 units; 1 unit less than last semester. I'm already concerned that it's too much. I have 5 units of Spanish which will take up half my time if it's like previous classes. And then 9 units of English, and that's a whole lot of reading. I'm going to have to buckle down and make sure I get the reading done.
I ordered my books - almost $400 for only three of the classes, EEERGH. My Ovid class should not have too many books though, so hopefully there won't be too much more money to be spent.
I watched Big Brother last night (we taped it). I had seen the contestants and was worried that BB was sliding further into Real World territory: put a bunch of college punks into the house and watch them all get drunk and trade beds. But I thought the people were pretty interesting - not all likeable, but interesting. One note: I felt really sorry for Danielle last night and thought her dad seemed like a real Dick. But according to the feedsters today Dick has completely redeemed himself and is the favorite in the house by a mile. Interesting. Yayyy for a good season!
It's getting warmer but I'm still comfortable with the fan on low. Waiting for the last load of laundry to come out of the drier. Then pack up and go. I'm feeling very lazy right now, but it will be cool in Aptos and I definitely want to beat the traffic.
Phoebe spent some time napping on my lap this morning and getting scratches from me. It was sweet. Now she is still napping on the chair where I was sitting. She's my little fluff muffin.

Donde estan mis cosas??
So in 24 hours I have lost:
1. my book of stamps
2. my Volver dvd
3. my glasses and their case
All three things have been sitting on the dining room table, and granted, my dining room table is covered with papers and books and crap. But they were all three RIGHT HERE, and one by one I have discovered they are missing. I carefully sifted through ALL the papers, and nada. No estan aqui.
Maybe the dvd put on my glasses and used the stamps to mail itself to somewhere cooler. Blah.

Cool morning so far
Today is going to be better because:
1. The house happens to be somewhat cool at 7:30am so I am quickly doing some wash and enjoying myself.
2. As soon as all the wash is done I'm getting the hell out of Dodge and going to nice, cool Aptos.
The only down point of this weekend will be tomorrow. We have another wedding to go to, Scott's nephew, and it's at 2pm in Morgan Hill (or maybe Gilroy, I forget) at the Catholic Church. Morgan Hill and Gilroy are both usually ten degrees hotter than San Jose. So that is not going to be pleasant. But then the reception is at some fou-fou richy-rich country club. So I assume that's going to be air conditioned.
It seems like recently the kids and I have been around a lot of rich people, whether it's parties or weddings or whatever. We have fun and the houses are beautiful, but I think we have just as much if not more fun at pot luck barbecues. I mean, there's something to be said for getting a little dirty and eating homemade mexican food and listening to loud music and also not worrying about accidently breaking a Ming vase that's in the middle of a hallway.
We saw Live Free or Die Hard last night. It was AWESOME. Bruce Willis kicks ass - and so do a couple other characters in the movie, including females.
Buffy: But WHY are the bad guys doing this again?
Me: I have no idea. Just go with it.
Buffy: Okay.
I mean - you don't really need to understand the reason why all the awesome car chases and explosions are happening. You just need to enjoy them.
Buffy: Um, I don't think that's really very realistic, hanging from the plane... and the freeway crashing down...
Me: I know. Just go with it.
Buffy: Okay.
I mean, it was a fun enough movie that you don't care if it crosses the line of believability. It definitely crosses it. You're just having way too much fun to care.
Buffy had not wanted to see it, her friend told her the Die Hard movies were "boring". I told her her friend was full of crap. But Buffy had a fantastic time at the movie. Plus, air conditioned theater, so no one was really going to complain.
So ya'll should go see it too.
Time to go change the wash.

Dieing here.
The house is again in the 90s inside. The cats and I are dieing. Well, Phoebe and I are here wilting away, Lord only knows where Pischina-kitty took off to. I even tried to turn the air conditioner on - yes, we have one but it only cools down the five foot square area right in front of it. Since it's only me home, there was no one to fight with over that little area. But it kept tripping the circuit. So whatever.
Oh yeah, this is the time of year I get to hate Catie and her air conditioning.
So tonight we're going to go to the movies when Spike gets off work. Buffy is at her air conditioned dad's house right now, so we'll pick her up at 8pm, then off to the air conditioned theater to see Live Free or Die Hard, or whatever it's called. I don't really care what it's called or who's in it, I just want to be cool.
These are the days when the news that Mexico is going to be extremely hot when we're there doesn't scare me at all. Oh, it's going to be 125 degrees in Mexico but I'll be living on an air conditioned ship for 8 days? Yeah, I'm so scared.
Ssssshhh, Judge Judy just started.

Need. Water.
Luckily the majority of my blood is italian and american indian, so I don't burn easily and I have to really really burn myself to cause major damage. This morning most of the burn has settled into a tan, but my thighs still hurt and my face and arms hurt a tiny bit. But I feel really dehydrated and wiped out. Far from the rejuvenation I felt under the sun at the beach yesterday, haha. I guess the gym is out - AGAIN. Blah! Stupid Stupid Stupid!!! SOOOOO frustrating to know it's your own fault!
On the other hand, The Amazing Race is on my DVR right now, so I'm gonna watch it! Who has my coffee?

I hate when there is no one to yell at but myself
My thighs are in so much stupid burning pain right now. If you see a lady walking through the San Jose County Recorders office tomorrow wearing shorts with ice cream smeared all over her thighs, that would be me.
(Okay, if you really do see that lady? It won't be me. But I'll be the lady wishing I had the guts to smear ice cream all over her burned up thighs.)

Not happy 4th of July evening!
Every year I hate the 4th of July more. Fireworks are so very illegal here, even sparklers, everything. How in the world does everyone and their grandmother manage to get professional fireworks AND manage to shoot them off for hours in their back yards without having a knock on the door by the cops? The cats are freaked and *I'm* freaked. People whose houses have already burned down once tend to run out and check their roofs for flames every ten minutes or so when they hear bombs going off over their homes. Blah!

Happy Beach Day!
We had an absolutely Wonderful time at the beach today. However.
You would think a 40 year old sun worshipper would finally realize that when you go to the beach for the first time of the year, on a gorgeous sunny day, that you should put sunscreen on. Sunscreen which I had, and which everyone else put on.
Now you may call me Mrs. Reddy McLobster.
(It was still the best day ever, and a wonderfully fun day with the kids)

Finally, some excitement
The kids, well, Buffy mostly, have not shown a lot of excitement about the cruise, mostly because it has been a very very very far away thing to think about, also I think because it is unlike anything we've ever done, so the things I have planned and booked for us seem to them like things that are only done on TV. So yesterday Buffy comes home and says:
Buffy: So, are we really swimming with dolphins?
Me: Yep.
Buffy: And going snorkeling?
Yep.
And doing the gliding thing?
The Zip Lines? Yep.
And riding horses?
Yep.
What else? Are we going to Cabo?
Yep.
REALLY? We're really going to Cabo?
Yep.
For sure?
*****
It was the first glimmer of interest she has ever shown in the trip. But this wasn't just a glimmer, she sounded like it just hit her that she was actually going to do those things. She said her friend just took off on a cruise to Cabo this week, and her ship has a gym. Does our ship?
Yep.
She had a smile on her face. FINALLY! 32 days Folks. And she even knows the countdown herself. Yayyyyyy.

You live in San Diego??? Not Texas? Since when? Why didn't I know this?? (Probably because I never planned to go to SD so I didn't absorb that info, but still, I thought you were still in Texas!!!!)

Also...
Also, San Diego was beautiful, from the moment the plane started flying in to it. Beautiful ocean, beautiful boats, trees, parks, birds, delicious food, museums... There are many snippets and details that I will probably think of here and there, but one thing is for sure, I really loved the city. I could easily live there.
I'll have to think of an excuse to bring the kids there soon, heh.

Home again!
I'm home safe and sound!
We had a great time, the wedding was really nice, held at two, get that? TWO Mansions. It was crazy. I wanted to wander the house taking pictures but didn't think it would be polite. So I only took one of each house, hee. Anyway, bride and groom were beautiful and very nice and happy, and we had a good time. Then today I talked Scott into taking me to the San Diego Zoo. We had a great time! Pictures on Flickr. And then we drove to Old Town for lunch where I had the very best tacos I have ever ever EVER tasted. And then we took the plane home.
Also, the flights there and back were the easiest and nicest of the six flights I have taken this year. They were really really great.
Anyway, we're home! Safe but sunburned, but happy with my kids again. Yayy!
