"So You Think You Can Dance"

Is anyone else watching this show? Buffy has pronounced it to be her "favorite show in the world". Anyway, did anyone else watch it tonight? The clogger??? Was he the most adorable thing in the ENTIRE WORLD???

He appears to be the lost-at-birth twin with Buffy's best friend Mark, and she is madly in love with the clogger. We have rewound and watched his dance At. Least. Thirty. Times. I told her we need to teach Mark the dance ("Choreography time!") so we don't have to rewind any more.

But I don't mind, because I love him too. Are we two the only ones? Wasn't he absolutely adorable and FABULOUS??

Also, Phoebe is resting in different spots all over the front of the house. She walks to them! Usually after she has peed wherever she was resting. I have towels all over the place. I'm going to have a hefty carpet cleaning bill when this is over. But she's walking!!! and drinking!!! (I still have to shove the food down her throat, heh)

She's walking!!

She got up off her towel (because she's still peeing all over the place) and walked, and walked to the step up into the dining room, and climbed up it, and walked another six feet... and plopped herself down at my feet!

Awwwww.... my sweet little Phoebe, I hope you really are getting stronger.

My Goodness!!!

She just stood up, on ALL FOURS, and slowly but surely walked about three feet to her water dish, and DRANK. That was quite a surprise, she hasn't moved that far since Sunday afternoon. Hopefully all that food and the fluids did her some good.

I get tired of getting my hopes up though, so I will just be happy in the moment.

Phoebe

I went to visit her at the vet and she didn't look well AT ALL. Jeeez, it's like an emotional rollercoaster. She didn't want to be moved from the cage and she couldn't seem to use her forearms to push herself around. I just sat and pet her and she purred and wimpered. I wanted to cry. She put her head face down again, and so I cradled her head in my hand while she went to sleep. It seemed like she was in a lot of pain while she tried to breathe. Once she fell asleep her breathing calmed down. I waited for a few minutes, then removed my hand and went home. I felt like the weight of the world had crashed down again.

I had to go back at 4:30 to talk to the vet. She was suddenly bright eyed again. Gosh, Phoebe, just make up your mind, I can't take this!! So she came out to get more fluids in her and then we got to take her home. The vet isn't really sure yet what we're going to do. It seems to me like... he doesn't want to say... I'm not really sure. But I had Buffy with me this time so I didn't want to ask her likely chances. We took her home and she's just resting in her carrier box.

Tomorrow she has to go back for another shot and more fluids. We have to fatten her up some how and get her strength back, but I'm not sure if that is enough... I can't quite get an exact answer out of the vet, but I guess because first thing we have to fatten her back up.

Some people mentioned how I can at least pay for her vet bills now, and that is something I am definitely aware of. My mom and dad did everything for their pets and they always gave me money when I needed to care for ours. So I already thought about it and know it would be okay to pay for the surgery if she gets well enough. I am very very glad I am able to pay for al these visits because they are already adding up, I'm so grateful I don't have the financial stress on top of it all. Would I pay $10,000 on her? No. But if this surgery can make her well then I will pay $1000 or a little more for it. Hopefully there is Something we can do, that is all. Thanks everyone for your good thoughts.

*****

More important, I have a friend at work whose 15 year old daughter has found a lump in her breast. They won't have results for a few days. Although the doctor has tried to reassure the mother, she is freaked out, of course. So good thoughts for them both please.

"I've never seen stones so big in a cat before!"

Phoebe is at the vet right now, resting comfortably but not happily. In fact, she is quite pissed at everyone right now. But there is good news to be had...

Yesterday afternoon she just looked worse, and she still had not eaten or drank water since Sunday afternoon, except for about a teaspoon of food and a tablespoon of water a day. So I called the vet and he said I could take her in for X-rays this morning to see if she had any stones, because he was kind of at a loss for what is wrong.

This morning she definitely looked bad. It was a horrible time waiting until 8am when the vet opened. But Phoebe actually had a very nice ride in the car and was wide eyed and awake when we arrived.

First thing, she got her butt shaved. Her butt was a mess with urine and even some matted poop. Then she got a shot of antibiotics. Then she had X-rays taken. The X-rays didn't get her bladder, so back she went for more.

At that point, Phoebe was SO MAD at us. She made her first noises in a week - that very angry EERRRRROOWWWWWLLLLLLLIMGONNAKILLYOUALLLLLLLEEEEEOOORRRRRRRRRR.

Then back she sat on the table. Only to get her arm shaved so they could put an IV in her to get some nutrients in her. Her blood pressure was so low they couldn't get a vein. So she got a needle in her neck that shot fluids into her. She wasn't happy about this, and three time (at least) managed to squirm enough that the needle came out and shot liquid all over her. Meanwhile, the doctor had a can of wet cat food that he kept dipping his finger into and then shoving down her throat. She managed to swallow some, but also managed to spit a lot out, just like babies do.

So we have a cat with a shaved butt, and chicken leg for an arm, cat food smeared all over her face, and wet fur all over her back. Saying she was pissed is an understatement.

But, she was looking stronger by the second, and just seeing her looking so angry was an improvement from laying there with her face in the carpet.

The X-rays came out and she does have stones in her bladder. Two huge stones that boggled the vet. Why does my family always have problems that are worse than the doctors have ever seen???? Anyway, it was a relief to finally, FINALLY, know what was wrong.

Solution: Surgery or eating special food to dissolve them (IF they are the right kind of stones).
But she can't have surgery right now because she's too weak from not eating, and she can't have the special food because she's not eating anyway.

So today she is going to spend the day in a nice big cage while she gets IV treatments and force fed some more food. Then we'll see what we can do. I told the doctor I'd be happy to force feed her the food if that's what it took.

For now I am just extremely happy that she is in a safe place, getting some CARE finally. And she has some food in her, and some fluids, and she should look much better when I pick her up this afternoon.

Poor kitty. I'm sure those stones must hurt. They each looked the size of a walnut halve. Hopefully she forgives me for everything she went through today, but in the end I don't care as long as she gets better. And I think that finally she may be getting that help that she needs.

I feel like a huge load of worry is off my back now.

One good thing, finally!

The Bad News:
1. Phoebe looks worse again. It's one step forward, one step backward.
2. Buffy's dad is shirking his responsibilities with her again. Something I haven't talked about here recently, but really it's no wonder she misbehaves when her father CLEARLY shows that he doesn't really care either way.

The Good News:
My grades just came in... I got ALL A'S!!! Even in stupid Spanish 4B, I got an A-, but all the others were A's!!!! I'm really really happy and relieved, there was a chance of 2 Bs, but I got AAAAAAAAA!!!! 15 units of A's!!!!

It doesn't block out the bad things, but it's nice to have that.

Phoebe - Tuesday evening update

So Spike said Phoebe wouldn't eat or drink this morning, and I couldn't get hold of the vet, so I rushed home after work. I took the little teacup of water and brought it to her and held it and pet her and encouraged her to take a drink. And finally she did, she slurped up quite a lot. So I got some of the wet food and put it on the spoon and held it to her chin and after a bit she took some licks and finally ate about 2 teaspoons full. And then I put her on my lap to get lots of pets and basically get treated like a queen.

Then the vet called. Phoebe's bloodwork came in. And it is all negative. Every single test, even the more accurate kidney test that originally scored high. HypERthyroidism, HypOthyroidism, Feline AIDS, leukemia, kidney failure, about a zillion tests all came in negative.

I told him she hadn't been eating and he said maybe she didn't like the food. Well, she was gulping it up until Sunday, so I don't think that's the problem - plus, Pischina-kitty thinks it's the best thing since raw porkchops.
I told him she's been having a lot of trouble walking, especialy with her hind legs. He said maybe she's getting arthritis. I said she's only four years old!!! and it didn't start until this week!
So we give her the antibiotics for a few days more and call him back to report status again. But for now she's all clear. I've been reading about a lot of horrible kitty diseases on the internet and he tested for all of them, so it's a relief that she doesn't have any of those things.

"She's faking it for the attention!" claims Buffy. "She's a big FAKER."
"She's just LAZY," said Spike.

"Who, me?" said Phoebe.

There's no doubt that she's been sick. She was definitely sick until Sunday, and she definitely has not been eating or drinking since then. But the antibiotics can cause that plus the constipation. The constipation can cause the walking problems. I suppose that's why she doesn't jump right now. I don't know. We'll see in the next few days.

Maybe she just had some sort of kitty flu?? I don't know. I really am glad though that all those horrible diseases came back negative. Since she seems to be out of danger now I'll just take care of her the best I can until she's jumping around again.

Meanwhile, Pischina-kitty is gulping the new food down left and right. She gulps down all the food Phoebe leaves behind, she gulps down her own bowl of wet food, she gulps down all the dry food - normally we just set bowls of food out and they eat when they are hungry. We've never had a problem with them over eating before. That must be some really good cat food. Pischina-kitty is going to gain five pounds by the time Phoebe gets better.

Phoebe - Tuesday morning

There hasn't really been any further change.

The Good:
She appears to be alert, when she doesn't appear to be really tired.
She does not move around much, but she has been able to find a way outside several times, so I just opened the door to the backyard and closed the gate - since she can't jump yet, she is able to just rest in the shade without me worrying about her crossing the street or getting lost.
She pooed again last night.

The Bad:
She can't really get up off the floor.
She is no longer eating.
She is no longer drinking.

So... I mean it's encouraging that she at least is LOOKING better, but behavior wise, I don't think the lack of eating/drinking is a good thing, especially when she was originally very dehydrated. So I have to call the vet again today and give him her status.

I would be really happy to just have her be well again.

Phoebe - Monday morning update

Today she was inching her way up the hallway to my bedroom again so I got up and gave her her medicine. She didn't want to drink and only took a bite to eat, but she really wanted to go outside. Phoebe is very much an outdoor cat, she would stay out there forever if I let her. She hasn't wanted to go outside since last week, so I thought maybe some fresh air would do her some good for a little while.

She hobbled across the yard, peed in the grass (no poo though), and scrambled onto the 10" retaining wall next door. Then she walked over and lay down under their car.

Well, I can't keep watch over her under their car, and she doesn't move quickly enough yet that I would trust she'd get out before they drove away without knowing they just smooshed her. So I picked her up and set her back in our yard. She walked over and lay down under my car. I have to walk outside to see her, but at least I know she's there. I brought a bowl of water and put it under the car next to her.

She's out there with her "well" face on, glaring at all the birds who dare to play in her lawn, but she's not up to chasing yet. But she's going to let them know if she could, she would. Her little tail is twitching all around. I'll let her stay for an hour, but then she'll have to come back in where I can see her.

I hope she makes a little more progress today. I still want to see her get onto a chair - and start eating and drinking more, that has really dropped off. Then I can stop worrying. But at least the vet opens back up tomorrow, and I don't think we'll need any trips to the emergency vet. I think the minute-by-minute updates can probably stop today.
;-)

Phoebe - Final Sunday evening update!

I believe she is probably out of harms way now. If you saw her sitting or laying there, you wouldn't think anything was wrong with her. She looks at you, she responds when you call her. The only thing I'm going to watch for tomorrow is making sure she eats and drinks more, and it would be nice if she got up off the floor. She often naps on three little stacked FedEx boxes I have and she actually climbed onto those today, but I'd like to see her jump on a chair or the printer. Then I'll know she's completely out of the woods.

Otherwise, I think she's finally on her way to recovery! I don't think she would have made it if I had not stayed and forced water and food down her throat, so I'm glad I did. YAY, I'm glad I will have my little fluffy kitty back again!

Alert the media!

She pooped!!!

She sat on the porch for awhile, then saw the elderly lady across the street come out of her house. Phoebe went into the grass and squatted, but nothing came out. She walked a few more feet. Squatted and nothing came out. Walked a few more feet... and kept her eye on the grandma the entire time. It was as if she was thinking "If only I could get this poop out of my bum I could cross the street and get lovin's from that lady."

Finally, she squatted, and worked at it... and poop came out! WOOOOO, sometimes there are reasons to celebrate a good poop. And this is one of those times.

I wouldn't let her cross the street though, even though she was standing and walking and looking better than she has in a week. I told her maybe tomorrow she could go visiting.

Now she just has to drink a little more water and maybe a little more food - that sort of dropped off today, although she also was getting tired of me following her around with spoons of peas and squash. I may have nursed her back to health, but she's definitely seeing me now as an annoyance.

Which is good, because that means she's GETTING BETTER!!!!!

Posted by Pischina at 8:40 PM | Comments (1)

Does she feel the call...?

She has moved herself to sitting directly in front of the front door, looking outside. Perhaps she feels a little tingle in her bum?

Regardless, she is clear and bright eyed. Not moving a lot, but she seems very alert today. I think if we can just empty that colon she'll be feeling just fine.

Back from the store!

I hurried up as fast as I could, and when I got back Phoebe is still sitting here just as she was before. I couldn't find pumpkin so I got butternut squash and some peas (website said peas were good too). I put some squash on a teaspoon and offerred it to Phoebe, who normally won't turn her nose up to anything. But she wasn't thrilled and would not taste it. However, the website said when constipated they will often not eat or drink because they feel nauseous. So I opened her mouth and put a few drops in. Then she decided it was pretty good and licked up the rest of the spoon.

So. Squash in tummy, hopefully poop will come out. Not on the carpet. heh.

Posted by Pischina at 1:55 PM | Comments (0)

Phoebe!

1pm and still bright-eyed! and walking just a tad bit better.

I am off to the store to buy some babyfood pumpkin. I may have to cage her in her litter box after she eats it, haha, because lord knows we don't want all that coming out on the carpet.
Ew.

Off topic - normal life...

So this weekend since I can't really pay attention to anything on TV I came across some show on one of those shopping networks (233 on DirectTV), it's called Live Jewelry Auction but really you just call in to save a spot and the show keeps lowering the price until the item is sold.

I'm keeping the phones away from myself because even though I'm not a jewelry person (at ALL) it's easy to get suckered into these things. But this show kind of cracks me up and it's easy to watch in between watching Phoebe.

The part that really cracks me up is that it's the same girl this morning that was there yesterday afternoon - only yesterday she had an english accent! She's wearing the exact same shirt as yesterday only it was white then and now it's red. But she has the same not-great french manicure.

Anyway, this show is what has kept me amused as I take care of my sick cat this weekend. Who knew people could get so excited over these things?? I try to imagine who is at home watching this and actually calling in. And hoping I won't be one of those people, haha.

Phoebe could care less about jewelry and is keeping an eye out the front door again.

You go Phoebe Girl

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Phoebe is feeling Much better. She's doing a lot of sittting up, and looking around at every sound. Just now she walked over to the dish with the dry food and started crunching away at it. Pischina-kitty walked in and about had a cow - she's so used to Phoebe eating over by the entryway, and Pischina not allowed to touch Phoebe's bowl, I'm sure now she thinks the dry food bowl is only for her, haha.
Heee, Pischina just walked over to Phoebe's wet food bowl and is now eating from that one. Silly kitties.

I hope things turn out well today.

Pumpkin Pie for Phoebe-baby

I looked up treatments for constipation in cats and I read that giving baby food peas or pumpkin can sometimes help. Phoebe is under a strict diet, but I wonder if a little teaspoon of babyfood pumpkin from that organic company (Natures Valley? Organic Valley?) anyway I know we have it at the store, it's the only thing I fed my kids. I wonder if it would help her a little.

OOH! Just now I look at her and she sat up and reached down to lick her foot. Only one lick and then she stopped, but she hasn't cleaned herself since at least Thursday! Another good sign!

Phoebe - Sunday morning

Well... I think she's a teeny tiny bit better!!!!

This morning I woke up at 6am and went to check on her, and she was about 8 feet further up the hallway than she had been. Five minutes later I looked and she was about 5 feet from my bedroom door. So she's definitely expanding her area of laying down - and even that little thing is an improvement.

Now, at 9am I get up and she's laying in the kitchen - her favorite room of the whole house. And her head is up! and she looks me in the eye!

She's still not drinking much, and she's quite constipated, but I looked at a website last night that said cats will make themselves constipated by keeping the wet food inside long enough to wring every last drop of moisture out of it. So you know, good and bad there, but constipated is better than dehydrated at the moment.

It's just nice seeing her a little more aware, even though she's not doing much. And moving around a little bit more, even though she doesn't walk well yet. We'll see how things go today.

Congratulations and thank you to Catie who gave me my 100th comment on this site! (even if under worried circumstances)
Thanks to Leslie and everyone else, and a BIG thank you to Dot for praying for Phoebe - the only kinds of people Phoebe really likes are little girls and very old ladies, so I think Dot's thoughts probably helped her out more than any others.

Phoebe - Saturday evening update

I have to say that I am worn out right now. I'm afraid to go to sleep, I'm afraid to take my eyes off her. She definitely constipated, she doesn't move out of a six foot square area, she looks miserable...
Part of me wants to sling her in the car and take her to the emergency clinic, but I don't want to drive her the 14 miles there if there's nothing they can do. I'm going to call them in the morning and describe her symptoms and see what they say.
She was better before she went to the vet. She was at least sleeping in the chair and on top of the printer before the vet visit. She hasn't moved off the floor since then.
:-(

Please come out of this Phoebe

Between the shaking and the not shaking of her head, I'm am a nervous wreck turning my head to check on her every 30 seconds. I gave her her antibiotics 2 hours early because she was shaking so hard again and I wasn't sure she was breathing very well. Now she's just looking very very veryyyyyyyyyyy tired.
:-(

Posted by Pischina at 8:03 PM | Comments (0)

blah

I didn't mean for this to be the will-she-or-won't-she play by play of Phoebe's health, but I'm just a little scared I guess. She seems pretty good as long as she's just sitting or laying there, but as soon as she gets up to walk around she looks like shit and it's obvious she feels that way. I can't stand to see the shakes on her. It's like having a little sick baby, you can't ask them what is wrong. At least with little kids they can tell you what's hurting or how they feel. But I don't know how bad Phoebe feels, and that makes me feel helpless because I don't know how bad she is or how to fix what is wrong. But I'm glad I didn't go to Aptos. I don't think it's a good idea to leave her.
:-(

Fooled me

Just as I hit send on the previous entry she walks into the kitchen, pees on the floor and starts shaking again. aaaaargh. I wiped her and the floor and she's resting again. Gah. Get better, Phoebe!

Phoebe - Saturday afternoon update

She still is not herself, but at 2pm it appeared that she would be fine if I left to Aptos until morning. So off I went to JC Pennys to buy some summer clothes and three beautiful dresses that were 50% off.

I was gone for an hour.

I came home and Phoebe is standing there with a wet butt, from the tip of her tail to the bottom of her hind legs she was soaked, and it appears there may be a piece of poop that has matted to a tuff of her hair. I reached down to pet her and she started shivering again, from her neck to her head it just shakes and shakes.

Called Scott, told him I'm not coming to dinner.

She seems fine again - maybe she was just trying to teach me a lesson for thinking about leaving her. She is laying in the hall where she has a view out the front door and can feel the breeze. She is more alert now, meaning she'll twitch her ears if I call her name. I can't ask for much more as she can barely be bothered to give us a twitch of her ears when she's feeling fine. She seems fatter now - as opposed to the flat roadkill image she portrayed yesterday - and fluffier. I really hope she's going to be okay.

I'm glad Scott understands. In fact, he seemed to discourage me from coming - he knows I'll be devastated if I go to dinner and come back to... no more Phoebe. That's a very good boyfriend right there. I really wanted to spend this 3 day weekend with him, I don't get to see him much during the school year and it really is important to try to get closer when school is out. But we'll be fine. I forgot to mention this, but we did have lunch in San Jose yesterday when I realized I wouldn't be coming for the weekend, and we had a good time.

At the moment her head is totally on alert because of something she sees outside. That's a very encouraging look - now if only she'll stop peeing on herself and stop the shakes.

Phoebe's personality being what it is, I'm not sure she cares about the hopes and prayers that Catie, Petey-Cat, Kat, Catherine and Murphy have sent her, but I do. So thanks guys.

Phoebe - Saturday morning update

This morning she got up, I gave her her medicine, and she ate a bunch of food again, but I realized she has now not gone #2 since at least Thursday afternoon. After she ate I put her on the front grass, but she got up and walked back inside to lay down. That was the most she had moved in three days, combined.

Ten minutes later I noticed she was sitting on the front porch, but she still looked terribly sick.

Ten minutes later she was in the front yard under a bush, looking half sick, half like she was enjoying a nice Saturday morning outside.

Ten minutes later she was gone.

Dammit.

I worried about her and looked for her for about 90 minutes, then I suddenly turned around and there she was, sitting in the hallway again. So that was good. She got up and walked to her empty dish, so I gave her some more wet food and called Scott. I told him I was probably going to make dinner with his parents tonight but would probably come home this evening or tomorrow morning. He was surprised, and said he knew how worried I was about her and how upset I would be if she got worse while I was gone. But I am fairly confident that she'll be fine until I come back. I don't feel confident enough to be gone for three days though.

So... hopefully she is out of the woods. I don't know if she went to the bathroom when she was outside, that's the first time I didn't have track of her since Thursday. Hopefully she did, because she has been eating a LOT. She's not cleaning herself yet, but at least she's moving around.

Phoebe update

So she wakes up, urinates right where she is, scoots over about six inches, and lays back down. Usually with her tail in the puddle. Then I come running over with a paper towel.
It's like taking care of great-grandpa. I think I'm going to be busy this weekend, heh.
Also, I don't believe she's done a #2 in at least 36 hours. There will be another call to the vet tomorrow morning if I dont get something out of her, especially since she is eating a lot today. At least that part is good.

Ah little Phoebekins, I hope you get better soon. She's too pretty and loveable to be sick.

Posted by Pischina at 9:02 PM | Comments (0)

Phoebe Cat

So Phoebe Cat never really got better after the whole "spraying bloody urine" week. The blood part seemed to clear up, but she was still letting go as soon as she woke up. And day by day she seemed to be sleeping more and more until I realized she pretty much just lay down all day - no running, jumping, playing, nothing. Thursday morning when she woke up her little head was shaking back and forth.

I got a vet appointment for that afternoon. He tested some urine and still found blood. They had to put her out for a few minutes to take some blood and give her a few shots. Then they gave me some super-antibiotics for her and some special prescription cat food which she'll be restricted to for the rest of her life. They think she may have been exposed to some of that bad pet food, because that's when she got sick.

So last night she was pretty listless and didn't eat anything. She just laid on the floor pretty much looking like flat roadkill. Sorry for the horrible image, but that's what she looked like. Like she was 100 years old and ready to die. I took a little japanese china teacup and filled it with water and held it to her mouth, and she slurped up a lot.

This morning she had her head up but still looked reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally tired. But I saw her gulping down some breakfast, so that was good. But after I packed the car to drive to Aptos for a nice 3-day weekend with Scott (Spike said he'd come by to give Phoebe her medicine twice a day), Phoebe tried to walk out the front door but instead was walking sideways, crab style, with her head shaking again.

I called the vet at 10am when they said the lab results would be in and told them her status. They said her results show she probably has a bad kidney infection, and possibly a crystal blockage in her stomach. Also she was extremely dehydrated. So I have to make sure she drinks a lot of water, feed her only the wet prescription food, and keep an eye on her. If she gets worse I have to take her to the emergency vet clinic.

So that cancels the 3-day weekend, heh. I came home from work, she doesn't look worse but she doesn't look better either. She is wolfing down the wet food which is good, but I have to bring her water in the tea cup for her to drink. Mostly she lays in the hallway looking miserable. But I'm going to stay here and monitor her while I make sure she gets water and medicine, until I see some results. If she starts walking around I'll go to dinner with Scott and his parents Saturday. If she starts running around I'll pack back up and head out to Aptos. At the moment, I'm not sure which way it's going to go. If she doesn't get better then she probably has the crystal blockage and will have to have surgery.

Poor little Phoebe. She really does look miserable, and she must be hurting awfully.

I'm sure her habit of doing this had nothing to do with it.

Dancing with the Stars

YAYYYYYY
I love Apolo so much, and his tiny little adorable dance partner.

Yesterday Buffy and I were watching their first dance and when it was over I said, "Those two need to just go get married, don't you think?"

Buffy: Yep.

Me: And have lots of babies. They'd have the most beautiful babies.

Buffy: They'd have the shortest babies.

Well, Buffy always speaks the truth.

Aside from school, Buffy and I had Taco Bell Saturday night and I have been sick ever since. I got sick in the middle of eating my taco salad and couldn't finish anything else. Ever since then I've been having bathroom and nausea problems, with everything coming out one end and threatening to come up the other. Gross. I should put a warning on these posts. Let me do that right now...
Okay, done. Anyway, I figured it would be over in 24 hours, but now here I am at my desk still fighting whatever gross bug has invaded my stomach. I feel like I've been poisoned. The good news is, this may finally get me over my unhealthy love of Taco Bell Yumminess. Because I really don't want to see smell or taste Taco Bell right now.

I go back to feeling nauseous now.

No more exams!

Done, finito, All Finished!
That archaeology exam was so easy, I finished in 15 minutes, no joke.
I'm sure I did not get 100%, but I only need 62% and I think I probably got 80-90%.
The grade will hopefully be posted today.

I got my English essay back today, it was a deserved B+ but as long as I got an A on the final essays I'll have an A in the class.
Spanish 1B is a firm A
Spanish 4B is unfortunately probably a B+
Weight Training is an A, duh.

Official grades will start trickling in on the website from Friday to Monday.

done. done. done.

I only need a 62% on my archaeology final to get an A in class, so I gave up the idea of more studying yesterday. Spring fever finally caught me, I am done with school. I still have two placements tests for spanish, but no studying needed for those either - so overall, except for going through the motions, I am DONE.
GAWD I am so done with studying.
It was my favorite semester by far, I loved it and the classes. But I also studied harder than any other semester, and I am so done with that.

On an unrelated note, I think we'll fly to LA when we go on our cruise instead of me driving. I don't mind the drive down, but I'm thinking the drive back I'm going to fall asleep. Plus, it looks like it's even cheaper to fly than to drive down.

And I'm ready to go NOW. SO glad school is over and I'm not taking any summer classes. True, I am bored, but I'll figure out what to do and I will be all refreshed and ready for school when it starts in late August.

That's it, I'm out.

Whew!

So Sunday morning and all financial sites are working now.
To be clear, I was not getting "page unavailable", I was getting the actual site with "online access temporarily unavailable" for every single financial site I visited. Everything else worked, just not sites pertaining to money.
Wells Fargo
Washington Mutual
Chase Visa
Another Visa site
SBC Pacbell (to pay a bill)
My financial advisor online site
All completely unrelated, all down and assets unavailable.

But anyway, they are all back up now. All my money is still there. So that's good.

Posted by Pischina at 12:47 PM | Comments (0)

Something's not right...

So....
I went to pay my phone bill and that site is temporarily unavailable...
So I checked my financial account where all my stocks and bonds are held... temporarily unavailable.

Someone tell me this is not odd. At least six totally different financial sites "temporarily unavailable" at the same time.

Maybe we should have all kept our money under the mattress.

Posted by Pischina at 11:21 PM | Comments (1)

Very very very odd

So...
I tried to see if a check had cashed through my online banking, and it said the website is temporarily down.
So I went to the credit card site to see if the payment was posted yet. Online access is temporarily down.
So... I went to another card's site to check my balance... and online access is temporarily down.

Hopefully this isn't the Prologue to Handmaid's Tale come to life.

The worries of an English major, heh.

First project grade in!

100 out of 100 for my Archeology research paper!!!!
I only need around an 80 on the exam Monday to get an A in class now!

Posted by Pischina at 4:32 PM | Comments (0)

yeah, whatever Catie. ;-D

So... I'm bored. Yeah. Only one class to study for, nothing else, no essays to write, no literature to study...
I'm bored.

Check!

Finally, the exam for European Literature is done, and yeah, I think I probably got an A.
Monday I have an exam for Archaeology exam, then I have Spanish placement tests on Tuesday and Wednesday but I don't have to study for those.
So this weekend I read up on Archaeology and then after Monday morning, I'm done.
WOOOOOO

Thursday night

Okay, first night I'm going to bed before 1am in quite a while... (it's 11pm now).
Tomorrow is D-Day for two exams.
Well, I get to re-take a Spanish test, and then I have my two-essay final exam in European Literature.
As long as we stay away from Song of Roland and don't concentrate too hard on Dante, I'll be fine. Give me Thorstein the Staff Struck and Sophocles, and I'll ace them.

Cross your fingers please.

The never-ending semester

Gosh, will this exam period never end?????????

Posted by Pischina at 10:11 PM | Comments (0)

Almost finished

I turned in my last two papers today, now I'm pretty much done. I still have to study for two exams and the Spanish placement test that I have to take on different days for two different classes, but overall, I'm done. No more staying up until 1am typing up papers. No more getting up at 5:30am to go to Weight Training Class.

I would go home and sleep for a week if I didn't have to study for those exams. But that's okay, I'll sleep in ten days.

Overall this was the best semester I've had in two years. I loved all my classes, I had time to learn what we were taught, and... I just loved the classes. They were really interesting and I learned a lot. Next semester will be even more fun.

But now I work.

YAYYYY.

ugh.... sick.

I knew I wasn't going to be so lucky that I would escape an end-of-the-semester without getting sick. And here it is. Ugh. Even my eyes are all swollen and my eyesight is blurry. YUCK. I need to finish two very long, very important papers! GAH.

And then we have our second Mother's Day with no mother. And it happens to coincide with the anniversary of my father's death. Good times.

I am fine ya'll, it's just a hectic end-of-semester as usual, and being reminded of deaths doesn't make me feel much better.

Back to work. I wish at least this blurry vision would go away. It's irritating, dammit.

It's SUMMER BAYBEEE

DUDES, school is almost OVER!!!
In fact, I have no more spanish classes - I get to work for four hours tomorrow and then GO TO THE GYM. I am so excited. I can't even believe this is really going to happen. I get to work half time and go to the gym every day... OHMIGOD. I am so EXCITTTTTTTTED!!!!
I just have two more papers to write, two exams and two placement tests, then it is all OVER.

WEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Pischina at 10:37 PM | Comments (1)

Check!

Finished my Spanish Oral Exam, Check!

She said I was excellent, and that it was amazing that I could be so funny when speaking another language.
Which... I guess is a good thing? That I am funny even when I don't mean to be?

Heh.

Posted by Pischina at 12:36 PM | Comments (0)

Check!

Spanish final DONE! Check!

Tomorrow morning I have my Spanish Oral Exam. Then I get another check!

Posted by Pischina at 11:15 PM | Comments (0)

17 units next semester?

I spoke with my english professor today about the Ovid independent study.
It's a credit/no credit class, with only one paper due, and just class discussions.
That means I probably fit it in.

WOOOO
That makes me happy.

So it looks like I'll probably have:

Spanish 25A
Modern English
Shakespeare
Mythology
Study of Ovid

Now THAT is going to be a fun semester.

More Checks...

Finished Dante's Purgatorio AND Paridiso... Check and Check!

Posted by Pischina at 7:59 PM | Comments (0)

Another Check!

Spanish 4B - Last Chapter AND Essay, Completed! Check and Check!

Posted by Pischina at 5:45 PM | Comments (0)

15 hours straight studying

I can't believe I am so far along on everything.

Half done with Dante's Purgatorio.
90% done with Spanish Final.
95% done with other Spanish class.
90% done with Archaeology Paper.
Research almost done for European Lit essay.

This has been a good semester. I have enjoyed all my classes, never really got stressed about school (except when I got that one B on my Arch test, heh)... I'm going to miss my classes. I will not, however, be taking any summer classes. It's going to be hard enough keeping up with Spanish on my own.

My dad died two years ago Saturday. I would have to say everything was upside down from then until this semester. I am glad that 99% of that is all over (I filed an extension for this year's taxes).

I would wish you all a good night but it appears mine is the only house not celebrating Cinco de Mayo and/or the boxing match with a very very very loud outdoor party. So I doubt there will be much sleep over here for quite a few hours. So I wish all of YOU a good night.

I'll be back online in the morning working on my European Lit essay. Adios.

Posted by Pischina at 10:05 PM | Comments (0)

On track with Finals

I have finished nine pages of my Spanish final, including the poem explication. Only one page to go.

On to my other Spanish class now.

I think I'm going to sleep late tomorrow.

Posted by Pischina at 9:29 PM | Comments (0)

Focused...!!!

I have been working non-stop since Thursday afternoon on the end of my school work. I can't believe I haven't taken one break. Today I got up at 7:30 and have been writing and reading ever since.

My archaeology paper is up to 12 pages, now I just have to refine it down to 10.
My European Lit essay is very well researched but I have not started writing, yet. It should flow nicely though.
My spanish final is doing very well, I am one third done with it (the poem explication part).

My back is starting to hurt now though. I am going to go sit and watch some TV for a few minutes. Need to veg out to clear the brain and get ready for more sitting at the computer.

It makes me happy when the Right thing is done

Also,

HAHA Paris.

The Office... ????

I'm taking a break from my Archaeology Paper because I'm replaying last night's The Office episode while I write, and my hopes that I just misunderstood it last night are dashed.

What the hell was that?
Was that The Office in Bizarro Land?
Was it Topsy Turvy Day in the writer's room?
Were the censor's taking a nap?
Ryan is writing love emails to Karen?
Pam imagines Jim flashing her in front of Roy? ...?????
Michael wears a school girl dress for Jan during sex?
Jan is certifiably insane??
How is Michael not fired under any other imaginable circumstance?

It just... went on and on and on... it was crazy... As much as I love that show, I was totally lost with what was going on. Did anyone else see it?

Check One!

3 Page Kinesiology Paper - DONE!

Those small easy papers tend to get lost in the shuffle, so I got that one out of the way real quick.

Posted by Pischina at 7:47 PM | Comments (1)

Silly Archaeology Professors

I have to stop and share this real quick.
On the instructions for my research paper in Archaeology:

"Keep your title short and remember to check it for grammer/spelling/typos."

There are many layers of hilarity in that statement but if you don't get the funniness I won't hold it against you.

But you will get an F in my grammar class.

Posted by Pischina at 7:21 PM | Comments (0)

Almost the end of the semester...

I finished my Spanish exam today, I think I got an A, it was not easy but it was the easiest one we've had all year.

Now I have to:
Type 5 page Final Exam for Spanish 1B, including explicating a poem in Spanish and written in Spanish.
Type 8 page essay for European Literature, Subject: compare and contrast Genesis from the Bible and Creation by Ovid.
Finish 10 page research paper for Archaeology, Subject: Otzi the IceMan - Proving the cause of death
Type 3 page essay for Kinesiology, Subject: Various weight training stuff
Type 2 page essay for Spanish 4B, Subject: Vacation in Argentina
Finish one chapter in Spanish 4B.
Take an Oral Exam for Spanish 1B.
Take Final Exam for Archaeology.
Take in-class 2-Essay Final Exam for European Technology.
Take the Spanish Placement Test twice, once for each class.

Oh My Gosh, I wasn't stressed until I just wrote that all out. That all must be done by MAY 14. HOLY SHIT I need to get going, sorry, I was going to fool around here but that's not going to happen...
