I want.

So just in case anyone *cough*Scott*cough* was wondering, I like this ring. I'm not big on diamonds. And I don't even need a wedding to go with the ring. I just want the ring.

We're always behind the times, eh?

So Spain and Canada have both approved Gay Marriage this week.

Who wants to bet the good ole U.S. of A. will be the very last place on earth to give their approval?

Winning the lottery twice a month

Okay, so my paycheck was electronically deposited into my bank account today and it's my first full paycheck, meaning now I know how much I get twice a month - and good golly I can't even conceive of this amount being deposited twice a month. It's like a million dollars got put into your account, and you're like "Oh! WOW! WHOOPEEEE!" and then you're told "In two weeks you get *another* million dollars!" and you're like "Fantastic!!!" and then they say "And in two more weeks you get *another* million dollars!" And then you're like "Huh??"

All I can say is, people who've loved me through this mess are going to get presents, that's all there is to it.

Reduce, Re-use, Recycle

Did I ever tell you that one of the things I love about my job is that I have two garbage cans under my desk?

One for trash,
One for recycling.

I love my job.

Dr. Laura

Every time I hear about Dr. Laura I think about how much I hate her, but I just realized I never think about *why* I hate her.

I used to listen to her on the radio all the time, years and years ago. But then, the last year of my marriage, my husband kept throwing out to me that I needed to listen to Dr. Laura to save our marriage, because she would tell me that I should have sex with him every night, or three times a night, or whatever amount it was that was going to keep him happy.

And I used to think, "Why don't YOU listen do Dr. Laura? Have you EVER listened to Dr. Laura??? Because first of all, she's really big on the mother ALWAYS STAYING HOME WITH HER CHILDREN," which the EX was absolutely against, he wanted me to put the kids in day care and get a job, but also, I'm pretty frickin damn sure she wouldn't approve of his extramarital affairs. But if there's one thing my husband never had, it was sense or logic, so there was no arguing this point wiht him

So even though I knew Dr. Laura would probably knock him over the head with a VW Bus if she had the chance, she was still being thrown in my face every day as the person with all the answers. So somehow I just connect her in my mind with that last stupid year of marriage.

I don't know what this post means or why I'm putting it here. I guess I just find it interesting how I psychologically connect her as a part of the end of my marriage.

More poems? Egad!

Okay, here is one of the poems that I turned in. I don't think it's great, I think it could be "okay" if I worked on it some more. A lot more. I guess I think it has potential, haha, but I think right now this is like a C poem, myself. I'm not stressing about it too much because I have no intention of ever becoming a poet in this current life. Anyway, a small part of me enjoys some of it, so I'm just going to share anyway.

Choosing a friend

Floor to ceiling books
The antidote to loneliness
My dusty musty friends
Always shouting for attention
You’d think they were the silent type
But no
They clamor for my notice
Pick me! Pick me!
My ears ache reading the titles.
Nancy babbles of clues
found in an old clock
behind the pavilion
And the Bobsey’s
cold from sledding
ask to drink hot cocoa
With Heidi in the Alps
On the top shelf
Behind the gold leaf
Katharina loudly debates mustard and beef
With the Phoenix
While the Turtle sits quietly
And waits for later years
My hand reaches out
The chorus grows louder
My fingers rest on Grimm
The originals
A tragic bloody ending
My favorite friend of all.

Damn TiVo

You see, it's deals like this that are going to make me go buy a Television set. And then I'll need cable too I suppose, right?

I'm going to erase that link from my memory. Right now.

Creative Writing

School has started, I only have one class this summer, Creative Writing. My first assignment? Write a poem. At least twenty lines. Aaarrrrgh.

So I started and stopped and changed subjects several times. This is not the poem I'm turning in, but this is one that I came up with last night.

1:30 am

Death is different when you see it
On the television screen.
Even on a crime show
The blue blanket of my father
Would not block the goddamn door,
A fuzzy blue sentry
No way around but over
I hugged the wall and jumped -
This never happens on TV.

And Cingular STILL SUCKS

Oh, and the cell phone thing down there, I was so angry I really didn't get everything down that happened. Basically the guy started off by telling me I was an idiot for not realizing I was getting two different bills (for one phone, both in a Cingular envelope) and when I told him I didn't think it was that unreasonable to assume that my balance had rolled over and would be receiving ONE bill for ONE phone he told me "Well that's what you get for ASSuming, Ma'am."

Just so we're clear, that's why I went through the roof. Remember, I worked in collections for over eight years, and I never, EVER, would have spoken to a customer like that. So that's why I told them to shove the phone up their ass and switched to T-Mobile.

And yes, I'll be writing letters about this.

Enjoying the peace while I can

Okay, nothing much going on here. Nice quiet weekend with Scott. Last week I watched a lot of DVDs (no school is nice, haha).

Lost in Yonkers - I loved it
Shall We Dance - Loved it way more than I expected to
Intacto - Really liked it
Barfly - I actually hated it at first - Scott had recommended it and I was getting ready to smack upside the head for wasting my time but then it turned out to be a really great movie. I give it 5 stars.

In addition, I read and loved Secret Life of Bees,
I'm finishing the last 20 pages of Time Traveler's Wife
and LOVE it,
and I really did NOT like Sixpence House.
Next I'm going to read Grapes of Wrath - which I read in high school, but I want to read it again.

And the only TV we could use to watch our two little channels of TV has broken (it's over 15 years old). We have a TV that works for DVDs, but won't get any channels. I'm torn between buying a new TV and getting cable, or just cutting TV out altogether. We probably won't miss it - all we watched was Desperate Housewives and The Apprentice, and we can certainly live without them. The only problem is the kids are often asked to watch some show for their chool work. But I can send them to their dad's house for that, right? I think we're just going to go without TV. I kind of like life without it.

We're going to the beach Saturday.

And I'm a happy girl.

CINGULAR PHONE SERVICE SUCKS

So I used to have ATT for my cell phone, and then I was notified that my service was being changed to Cingular. So I didn't care, whatever, as long as I can use the phone and my bill doesn't go up. So I start getting the Cingular bill and I pay it, TOTALLY, and IN FULL. And so I got paid on June 15 and right away went to the web site and paid the June bill, IN FULL, and today I go to use my phone and it is SHUT OFF. For NON-PAYMENT.

So I go to the website and there it is, plain as day, I'm all paid up, IN FULL, and don't owe ANYTHING.

So I called them.

And they said "Well you owe for your ATT bill."

I said, "The fuck I do, I pay you every single month."

They said, "No, you were getting two different bills, BOTH IN CINGULAR ENVELOPES, but the bills" (supposedly) "look completely different so it was very very obvious that it's different."

Me: Well not THAT fucking obvious because I never noticed it, and if I pay my bill one day, and receive another fucking Cingular envelope the next day, wouldn't I assume that the bill crossed with my payment?

Cingular: No, because they have different account numbers on them.

Me: Isn't my account number MY PHONE NUMBER? Since that's what I write on my payment???

Cingular: No. And it is obvious and you have to pay for this.

And you know what? I don't have any problem paying the damn bill. I really don't. It's the fact that when they changed companies they sent a letter that I did read, that said we didn't have to do anything, but that we would get a new bill with Cingular on it. And so A) Why would we think that we would be getting TWO bills if the company just changed ownership, and B) This guy was fucking rude about it.

So I told them to shut off the damn phone, and I called up T-Mobile. Now I'm getting a better plan, twice as many minutes for less money, and another free phone with camera AND video camera.

Fuck you Cingular. Yeah, I have to pay a cancellation fee, but not only can I afford it, I would rather pay that and be rid of them than continue to give my service to them. This is all the point of the matter.

Charleen recommended T-Mobile, and within five minutes of the Cingular call I was signed up, with the same phone number. After my phone call, which was in my cubicle here at work, where I was loudly exclaiming "That is WRONG. No it is NOT, it is WRONG and YOU KNOW IT, and you can SHUT OFF the damn phone anyway, I DON'T CARE, and I don't want ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU!" Now everyone says they can see that Charleen and I have been friends for a long time. Hee.

Mmmff... Mmf MMMFFf MMmmfff

Oh yeah.

All you can eat Cold Stone Ice Cream.

Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee and cake batter ice cream.

Chocolate and caramel topping.

Cherries.

Whipped cream.

Chocolate chips, walnuts, M&Ms, sprinkles.

Oh lordy, I need a doctor's note for the gym.

Posted by Pischina at 1:44 PM | Comments (0)

But yes I'm still happy and I love it here

Okay, today at work?

Free Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream.

This is insane.

I'm going to weigh 300 pounds in no time if I don't get that doctor's note to work out in their gym soon.

No wonder they have a gym here, all their employees would be dead of heart attacks and obesity if they didn't.

Been working hard, finally

I've been in training all week and am about to leave again right now. Lots of hard work and even more food. They have catered in lunch and dinner every day this week and we are all going to turn into BIG FAT COWS if training doesn't stop soon.

Tracee, what I'll be doing is converting current software licenses from my company to new licenses for the new product version. And it's kind of like algebra, heh. But I like it and I'm having lots of fun and I enjoy using my brain.

But I must go do some now. See ya'll later!

It keeps getting better...

You know what else I love about this place?
They recycle EVERYthing.

Everyone has under their desk a regular trash bin and a cardboard box. All recyclables go in the box. Our notebooks are made with recycled paper. And the Cafeteria has different bins to put your trash and recyclables.

A company after my own heart!

Posted by Pischina at 10:15 AM | Comments (0)

Mmmm. Breakfast!

Got to work today and what is in the cafeteria?
A table PILED with bagels, pastries and a huge bowl of cut melon and grapes... all free for the taking.

Not to mention the daily free Starbucks coffee.

My tummy is happy today.

Quiet and Pretty. My new work life.

Have I mentioned how much I love that I can talk to you all day? Although I don't very often because I'm still kind of freaked out that I CAN get on the internet, but I guess as long as I just peek in on you guys then everything is okay, right?

Anyway. It's so strange and QUIET and... all I can think of is "civilized", hahahaha. I like it. I will get used to it soon, I'm sure.

And I'm going to the World Market soon to get stuff to decorate this cubicle. Everyone else has these elaborately decorated cubes, and mine is like practically EMPTY. Well, today it has papers and notes strewn all over it. But I want PRETTINESS. So that's what I'm going to get.

Posted by Pischina at 2:11 PM | Comments (0)

Happy Fourth Day at Work!!!

I finally learned how to do some stuff for my job.
Or I should say, they finally tried to teach me some stuff.
Ya'll can send for the Loony Bin Men to come get me now.

:-/
Don't worry, I will get this and be A-Okay!

... if it KILLS me, heh.

Okay, OKAY. PEOPLE.

WHO ever leaves the house like this???

I mean, that's too many different layers of rags to even say "Oh I had nothing clean to wear..." because obviously she had too much of SOMETHING to wear.

This girl is very quickly losing it. That very last marble, 'tis almost rolled away.

The Snowsuit Effort.

Wow.

I guess I was expecting... snowsuits or something.

You guys HAVE to go look at those pictures, they're quite powerful.

Also, you can GO HERE to read more of what the photographer has to say. I think that's a really great part, definitely read that.

Links borrowed from Galaxy, who is back writing again, Yay!

Posted by Pischina at 6:21 AM | Comments (0)

So far so good, I like it!

I went to work, they didn't have a computer ready for me yet, I hung up some stuff in my cubicle, filled out some forms for my benefits, met a few very nice people, Charleen took me to lunch, I arranged my cubicle, listened to everyone talking very very quietly to each other... and got to go home early. I basically did nothing, and made a bunch of money. Huh.

Tomorrow I get a computer and have stuff to read, finally. Then we'll be up and running. Yay for new jobs and new things to learn!

Clothes Talk

In response to the lovely Angel:
Don't get me wrong, I love Hot Topic, and yes the Napolean Dynamite T's are great (Love LOVE that movie!) but I wouldn't wear them to work. I would totally wear a little black skirt with cherries hanging from it and a black and red corset to match (No, REALLY!)(but not to work, heh) but I'm afraid my size large butt will not fit into those clothes at the moment.

Actually Buffy and I also had a wonderful time in the store Anchor Blue, they had the cutest clothes at not bad prices and everything was on clearance. I told her I was going to work out as hard as I could at my new job's gym so I could get back into shape quickly and wear those cute clothes.

Also? We went to Old Navy to try on some Super Skirts! Super Skirts! but my ass? does not look good in a Super Skirt! Super Skirt!

Actually, it wasn't even my ass, it was the big ole stomach in front, haha. But I was not depressed, I know I can get it back down again.

And speaking of big, I picked out this really cute little red summer sweater to wear for my first day today (It feels like the first day of school, haha!) and today I put it on for the first time...

And I have some huge boobies peaking out of the neckline, which is quite a scoop neck. I mean, WOW. BOOBIES. They're hard to miss today, believe me.

No, you don't get any pictures.
;-)

I am off to get ready for my New and Improved Big-Girl Big-Salary Job.

Posted by Pischina at 6:06 AM | Comments (0)

First Day tomorrow!

So my weekend of being "between jobs" is over. We had a great time at the festival, and we had a great time buying much needed and much wanted items all weekend. We had a lot of fun together.

I now own four pairs of sandals (three on sale from Payless) and can't wait to wear some to work tomorrow. I don't believe I've owned four pairs of sandals at one time in my entire life, haha! We can wear open toed shoes at my new job! Not like my old stinky job, haha. I told everyone at my old job I would email them a picture of my bare little toes all happy in their sandals. And I will, HAH!

Got some new shirts on clearance at Mervyns this weekend to wear at work. Wow, great sales everywhere this weekend!

And we bought a patio table for $25 and some cheap plastic chairs. Now we can have barbeques and eat outside when our house is roasting this summer. This will be nice.

Went to church yesterday, took communion and cried while I prayed, asking God to take care of my dad, and also thanking Him for allowing me to have this job where we won't just have "enough" but we'll have "more than enough", something I never imagined we would have until after I had graduated. Then I wrote a huge fat check for the offering that equaled my entire year's offering last year. Then I sat and wiped away more tears while I thought about how I can actually write this check for the same amount every time we go to church with no problem. How it used to stress me to no end giving the church the last dollar or two that I had on Sunday, but now I can increase my giving such a substantial amount. And still fund that camp scholarship and still pay for everything we need. I'm still in shock over this.

I am going to bed now. Tomorrow it's a new job and a whole new chapter in our lives.

Posted by Pischina at 11:17 PM | Comments (0)

OPA!!!! or however you spell it....

Buffy just pulled out a bunch of free tickets to the Greek Festival from her school books, so guess where we're going today after church? WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! Festivals are so much fun when you have money!! It's greek food for us today!!!

Posted by Pischina at 8:19 AM | Comments (0)

We're having a pretty lovely weekend.

Okay, we won the swim meet, or should I say we pulverized them. Wow. Something like 90 - 295. It was close, HAH!

Spike got first in backstroke, second in butterfly and freestyle, and they won both relays.

Buffy got fifth in backstroke and butterfly and fourth in free. But she's swimming against kids a year older than her too, so actually she's doing pretty fantastic.

I got a little sunburn, in very odd patches since I sat in one place and read my book the whole morning. Heh.

And then we went shopping and bought a barbeque and some clothes for the kids for their swim dance last night, and for me for Corina's wedding next week, and also a little froggy welcome mat.

AND we went to Fresh Choice for lunch and we had a really really great day.

And Spike wants to dress me in clothes from Hot Topic.

Okay Spike? Not.

Posted by Pischina at 7:24 AM | Comments (0)

Happy Saturday!

Swim meet today! First official one of the year! So here I am, Saturday morning, been up since 5:30 and it's about time to get down to the pool. Happy Weekend!

Books books books

So I already finished Handmaid's Tale, finished The Pearl (John Steinbeck), and now I'm finishing up Deception Point, which reads more like a Michael Crichton novel than a Dan Brown novel, but it's okay.

Now I have on order Sixpence House, recommended by my English Professor, The Time Traveler's Wife, and Welcome to Temptation, a perfect summer book.

Also on order, but from Half.com, Three Genres, for my Creative Writing class.

I'll get through all your suggestions before summer end!

Note to Myself:

Next time you turn the sprinklers on when you come home from work, set the timer so you don't discover a swamp in your front yard three hours later.

Aargh.

Posted by Pischina at 10:11 PM | Comments (0)

My head's been stuck in my science book for far too long

I really hate that I love the Old Navy Super Skirt commercial... but I admit it, I am addicted.

And I totally want that chocolate brown skirt. Then I too could shake my bum all around. And I would, too.

And Angelina Jolie on NBC Today??? Why can't these things be on when I'm home? Why don't I have a VCR that works? heee.

****

Oh, and YEAH! I totally called it! Arrested Development!! BooYah!

Posted by Pischina at 9:54 PM | Comments (0)

Still watching "Hit Me Baby One More Time"

Okay, I think Arrested Development is my favorite overall.

Anyone else watching this? What's your favorite?

Oh wait, here's Tiffany again and she's reigned in her boobs. Good girl... but wait... is she pregnant?? or just... pudgy? Tiffany, Girl, you are no longer the 16 year old mall singer... Who picked out your clothes???

Posted by Pischina at 9:49 PM | Comments (0)

On June 10th I'll know my grades for sure

Speaking of school...

I think I got 3 A's and one B!

I KNOW I got A's in:

World Literature
American Literature
Environmental Science

But I'm pretty sure I could only get a B in History. With my horrible history final after the funeral - who knows, I may even have a C in class. But I'm not going to stress. Stuff happens and I did my best, that's a fact. The grade won't be any lower than that.

On June 20th my Creative Writing class starts!

Then for Fall Semester I'll have:

Spanish
English Literature
Interpersonal Communications
Algebra II

School - WHOOPEEEEEE!!!!!

Posted by Pischina at 9:36 PM | Comments (0)

More "Reality"

Yeah I'm totally going to watch Who Wants to Be a Hilton too, even though I don't watch The Simple Life.

It's a good thing we don't get Fox, heh. My brain would be filled with rot before Summer Session begins.

Posted by Pischina at 9:34 PM | Comments (0)

Hit Me Baby One More Time

Tiffany: "Maybe if I hang my massive boobs in the face of the audience they won't realize I was just kind of a lame teenage mall singer way back before they were ever born..."

Me: "Who would have guessed Tiffany would sound the best of them all so far?"

October is a very long way away

Also... Scott will be taking Disability after Friday. They couldn't get his surgery scheduled any sooner than OCTOBER, and he simply cannot even walk, much less crawl 10,000 square feet of houses every day, climb their attics and inspect every inch of their interior. I am glad he's going, he needs to sit and rest his poor body and try to survive until October.

I'm sad for my Scott.
:-(

But hopefully by New Years he will be on his way to recovery. I can't wait for him to feel better!

Posted by Pischina at 9:26 PM | Comments (0)

bye bye Job

I can't believe tomorrow is my last day at work.
Then again, I'm not sad to leave.

There will be people I will miss, a very very select few, but I also really loved my boss. I will probably miss him the most.

He's having italian food catered for me for lunch tomorrow. I love my BigBoss.

Ooh, Really Lame Summer Reality Show Season!!

Currently watching Hit Me Baby One More Time, anyone else?

Also,

Did anyone see that ballroom dancing Survivor-not-even-close-wannabe show last night?

TOTALLY not what I thought it was going to be, not that I'd been planning to watch it because Dude, it just didn't seem taht interesting, but I never would have suspected it would be THAT lame. And that horrid man from the video shows, aaaaarrrgh!

Well, Spike said he likes the guy. Whatever.

I want the guy from Seinfeld to win. Not that I voted. Because I didn't. And not that I'll ever watch it again, heh.

Oh gosh Loverboy just started singing and I totally burst out laughing. Hilarious! I'm going to love this show! 80's MUSIC RULES!!!!

I'm so excited!!!

TWO MORE DAYS at this job! And then I'm done!!!
I can't wait!!!

WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

I needed to buy some new summer shirts for work, and since now I CAN (BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love it!!!!) I went to Target and bought like eight different colors - of course I couldn't get out of the cheap Target mentality and they're all shirts on sale for $6, haha, but I like them and they're simple and when I'm used to having money to spend I shall go buy nice ones. And I went to Amazon and ordered several books for me and the kids!

This weekend we are buying: Sandals, fans for the house, and oh yeah, Pischina-kitty is getting FIXED, that's right kitty, time to go hide under the bed.
