WHEN does this semester END???
Wednesday evening, and I just finished a couple more assignments. Only have one more 5 page essay due by Sunday - haven't started it yet. Ten page research paper due in two weeks - I started that one a couple hours ago. Another one page essay due in Critical Thinking on 12/1. A re-take in Oceanography for extra credit Tuesday. I think I have a History exam Thursday - Not sure - guess I need to check on that. Oh yeah, no one in my group for the Critical Thinking group project has done one blasted thing, except for I wrote the essay all by myself... If anyone thinks I won't be telling the teacher this, they would be WRONG.
Losing my mind... cannot wait for this semester to be over... still top of my class, still A's and B's...
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Movies
Last week we saw this movie called "Pieces of April" which Netflix recommended and made look like it was some hilarious comedy.
It was NOT. However, it was very very very good. Buffy and I watched it at least six times, and then made Scott watch it too. I don't think he was happy about it at first, but he ended up loving it too.
It's an independent film about a girl (Katie Holmes) who lives with her boyfriend in a dingy apartment in New York, and she's trying to get Thanksgiving dinner ready for her family - who is far beyond disfunctional.
It was funny, and a lot sad, and I never would have watched it a second time if it hadn't ended well, but it was really great and I highly recommend it. Also, Patricia Clarkson plays the mother, she was the lady in Station Agent which I also highly recommend.
So you all should see it.

At least I had the $ to pay
$384 in towing and taxi fees, and a new starter for the jeep.
I think the next student loan will go to buy a new car.

Two broken cars in the driveway, oh well
I don't think I mentioned that the starter went out in the jeep Saturday evening, and the kids and I got a ride home with the tow truck at midnight, but it's not even a crisis because I have my student loan in the bank and can afford to spend a couple hundred dollars to get it fixed.
Not a problem.
We be just like regular people now.
Plus, I get to go to work in a taxi tomorrow. I hope they're on time. Then tow the jeep to the mechanic by my work, have him fix it, and go home in it that night.
Also, I love Scott. Still. Lots.

Surprise! A running entry!
FINALLY!!!
Just ran! Feels GREAT! Well, *puff* *puff* my heart and lungs are telling a different story, and even my arm muscles are having a bit of trouble typing this right now, but I do feel great.
Only ran .8 miles (once around the block), was going to go twice around but got a bad chest cramp right before I arrived at my house, so I just stopped. Don't want to have a heart attack right after I turn 38.
But I do feel great. November evening weather in San Jose is so perfect for running, it's about 55deg.F right now.
So I finally accomplished that. Also, just found out I can take Eng 1B during the winter session, which is a great relief because otherwise I was going to cram in Eng 1B AND Women in Literature AND Creative Writing all during the summer - NOT a good plan. This makes the summer plan MUCH better, and I should be able to do well in all three classes now, instead of barely passing any of them.
Okay enough. Must study for Oceanography midterm that is tomorrow morning.
Good night!

Update!
Still here...
Got an 89% on my History midterm - Yay! That is an A in that class (87% and above). Oceanography midterm this Saturday morning... finished my oceanography report... finished my postings for American Literature, "Bartleby the Scrivener"... thinking of my next thesis for that class... and Critical Thinking is going well, but we have to listen to Rush Limbaugh and Al Franken on the radio, then write an essay on fallacies... busy busy busy...
Work is going GREAT, now that the monster is gone. I'm mad that she ended up robbing me of the chance to see her go down in flames... but what's important is that she's gone and never ever coming back... and all us Accounting girls are happy... found out she was making 2-1/2 times what I make... that's fine if she EARNED it... mentally ill is what she is...
Hmmmm.... my comments aren't working... well, it seems people have left me comments, but I can't get to them, maybe it's just my computer...?
OH, just remembered the "Jamba Juice at Parent Teacher Conference" story that I have to tell you about, starring Buffy. I'll write about that in the diary later. Must get the camera drivers reinstalled so I can post pictures again, ya'll won't believe it when you see Spike and Buffy...
I love my Scott so much... he brought me dark chocolate covered orange thingies today... with REAL dark chocolate... SOOO goooood.... I love him to pieces, I do I do!
Went online and found the classes I need to finish my BA after I'm done with this Junior College stuff... should take 2-3 more years (after I'm done here...)... which means I'll graduate Junior College in Spring 2006 and have my BA around Spring 2008-2009... Teaching by Fall 2010. That sounds like a very very long time... but I am flying through my classes and maybe I'll even be able to teach by Fall 2009.
Oh yeah, at Parent Teacher conferences one of Buffy's teachers claimed I was a "Young mom!" I disagreed, but hey, she scored points with me!
Okay, bed time for Pischina.

Good bye Friday!
I am off work early so I can take Spike to church where he'll be picked up for a weekend of community service in Sacramento, and a Christian Rock concert Saturday evening.
I hope he doesn't corrupt the poor kids, heh.
And I hope they keep the church girls faaaaaaaaaar away from him.
Anyway, after that, I am off to Aptos! Hurray! And more essays! Boooo!
Everyone have a great weekend!

Birthday Run
So tomorrow I turn 38 years old and I've decided to get up at 5am and do a run. I think that's a great way to start the day...
Plus I may get to end the day watching Supervisor clean out her desk - now that would be the BEST present!!!
Posted by Pischina at 9:16 PM
Well this makes it all worth it!
OH MY GOD I ALREADY GOT MY ESSAY GRADED!!!
And I got a 95%!!!!! My highest grade yet!!! WHOOOOOO!
Posted by Pischina at 8:45 PM
I. Don't. WANNA.
Guess what. After writing and re-writing that Gay Marriage essay until I was sick of thinking about it (and ya'll were sick of hearing about it), after completely writing that thing over FOUR SEPARATE TIMES... I turned it in, in all its glorious perfection...
And received my next assignment. And that is?
To re-write the essay into a better argument. I have to re-write that damn thing one more time. Our grade will be based on how much we improve our essays.
If I had waited five minutes to turn it in I would have seen the new assignment first and turned in a previous draft. But noooooo. I had to turn it in EARLY.
DAMMIT.
Posted by Pischina at 8:39 PM
I'm sorry, I can't help it, I love it.
Okay, I uh... watched Gigli a third time. I still like it... er, love it. I let the kids watch it and just fast forwarded through the two scenes I didn't want them to see. Buffy LOVED it. I'm thinking about renting it for Scott - I actually think he would like it too.
Then I voted it 5 stars.
I now crawl back into my movie cave of shame.
Posted by Pischina at 8:35 PM
Movie Surprise
Okay, I watched Gigli, and you know what? It wasn't that bad. In fact, I've seen FAR worse movies, and I actually enjoyed this one. Jennifer and Ben were not the best actors in the world, and the overused emotional music was annoying - but otherwise it was good. I laughed hard a couple times, and I even cried when they finally found "The Baywatch", and I even watched it a second time.
Do I recommend it? I'm not sure. But it didn't deserve the "Worst Movie EVER" label. It was enjoyable, and I would even see it a third time.
Posted by Pischina at 4:58 PM
All right, here you go
Okay, my GrownWoman account here, courtesy of Megs, has a diary included. So I've turned it into an essay diary. I'm only posting my essay that got As on them, haha, except I'm including the Gay Marriage essay before it's graded. If it gets an F it will disappear in a flash, hah! Anyway, go to http://aGrownWoman.com/diary to read the essays. The Gay Marriage one is titled "Baby Steps".
Posted by Pischina at 12:00 PM
Fried Brains
Okay, I did it. I completely re-wrote my argument from scratch three times. It was most difficult for me to come up with a compromise when the basic argument - a religious one - is not a valid argument in a Critical Thinking class. So if the basic opposing argument is declared technically invalid - what do you compromise with?
I have received several requests to post the essay. Do you all really want to read it? Keep in mind, I was required to write a compromise when my own beliefs do not permit compromise, and it is not an essay on whether gay relationships should be socially allowed - I could write thousands of words on that. At any rate, if I have enough requests, I'll post it.
At any rate, I am now DONE. Don't want to think about compromise any further. BLEGH. My brain needs a rest.
Posted by Pischina at 9:20 AM
November 6, 2004
Help!!!
I never expected to have so much trouble with this Gay Marriage Solution essay. To come up with a compromise is just killing me. For me to accept a compromise, I have to recognize some valid, logical non-religious argument against gay marriage. I have not heard a valid non-religious based argument yet.
If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. Whether you agree with my view or not, what I need is a non-religious argument to prohibit gay marriage.
Anyone?
Posted by Pischina at 10:05 PM
Done. SO done.
Okay, no more writing, typing or deleting for a little while. I think I'll go watch Gigli and get my mind of this mess.
Posted by Pischina at 2:52 PM
What does Jesus say about homosexuality in the Bible? NOT ONE WORD.
I'm writing my essay on gay marriage now. It's hard not to rant. I have to create a solution both sides will agree to and be happy with - how can a gay couple be happy with less than equal rights? A compromise is difficult.

Saturday Movie Quotes!!!
Okay, I'm off to an Oceanography Review at 9am, but I thought I would tell you what Netflix movies we have this weekend by giving you some quotes. So, click on the link to open them up:
1. "Lemme tell you something, in every relationship, there's a bull and a cow. It just so happens that in this relationship, right here with me and you, I'm the bull, you're the cow. Alright?"
2. "You know what? I just got violated by a lizard, man! Actually, that felt pretty good."
3. "I know a boy who's name is Arnie... he's uh... bout to turn 18 and have a big party."
4. "Vampires, gargoyles, warlocks, they're all the same - best when cooked well."
5. "Write this down. E. M. E. T. I. B. Got it? Now, reverse it."
Okay, now you all get to it while I'm at school.

Sometimes when you don't drink so much you actually can keep your clothes on
Okay, I was on my way to bed, but I can't pass up a chance to make fun of Tara Reid. Go look at her boobs actually hanging out of her dress. Tara, Honey, have some coffee.
edit: the current picture now is a very very large closeup of Tara's nipple - so be prepared for that. I was initially referring to the pictures under that one.

vote vote vote vote vote
A lot of people at my work did not vote, including my officemate (who was a strong anti-Bush person, but still, not registered). I think the next election (local, not four years from now) I'm going to get these people registered. I'll even go door to door in my neighborhood if I have to. It's not just a matter of getting democrats registered, I just think everyone should be.
Anyway, I told officemate I'll get her registered and show her how to vote absentee.
It wouldn't have mattered this election - California voted Kerry anyway - but at least I can get more people involved. I mean really, this is a small thing we all can do.
Posted by Pischina at 9:47 PM
So... Can I have some?
It's just not right to have absolutely no chocolate in the whole entire house.
You all agree, don't you??
Posted by Pischina at 9:31 PM
Oh this shit just ain't RIGHT.
Okay, THIS is why those fucking machines should not be used in elections!!!!!
There is something to be said for technology and progress, but in times like these, in circumstances like this, a nice PAPER TRAIL would be nice. I don't know why we need to know the results in such a rush anyway, we can certainly cool our heals and wait for two weeks in order to get, say... oh I don't know... an ACCURATE COUNT????
edit: I'm not complaining just because I'm not happy about the results, I just want ACCURATE results. No matter what or who wins. I would like to know that those numbers were correct.
Posted by Pischina at 8:58 PM
No McChemicals for me, thankyouverymuch.
After watching Super Size Me! and reading Fast Food Nation, I can no longer go into a McDonalds. I wanted to last night, I just wanted one little hamburger before the History Quiz, I was hungry... but I could not stand the thought of what I would be eating. I thought maybe chicken nuggets then... and immediately gagged. Seriously, if you want to give up fast food, read the book.
Posted by Pischina at 8:01 PM
A+
I already got my history quiz back and unexpectedly got 100%!!! It was only a ten question quiz, and I was the first one done, but I wasn't sure about a couple questions, just picked the ones that made the most sense.
100%!!

Ding Dong the witch...
*WHAM*!!!
That was the sound of all three accounting girls hammering that last nail into Supervisor's coffin.
There was a rebellion today. And it was well received.
I can't wait until Monday.
edit: it was kind of like the boardroom on The Apprentice where all three of us just SKEWERED her. I can't wait to hear BigBoss say it... "You're F----!!!"

Have I mentioned that school books will cost over $300 next semester for 3 classes, and $180 of that is just for Spanish???
I'm already searching eBay.

Studen Review, Take notes
Although I lost about 8 pounds when I first started school, I've pretty much made them all up, plus possibly more.
Maybe it's "The Freshman 15", haha.
Anyway, Did I tell you next semester's classes? Oh wait, I did.
Well you all get to hear a repeat update anyway. Cuz it's my blog. NYAH.
I just took my History Quiz. I think I did really well. For only opening my history book just this week and not watching one of the videos. Uh. Well.
Oceanography review this Saturday. I'm having some trouble with this current section of class. A real class to go to would have helped me. But I'll take good notes during the review again.
Overall: 2 As, 2 Bs. Yeah, I'm proud. But still CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS SEMESTER TO BE OVER. OR I'M GOING TO LOSE MY MIND. ALSO, THE LAWN HAS NOT BEEN MOWED SINCE SCHOOL STARTED.
Okay. And so. Next semester I take: Algebra Review, Spanish and American Literature B. Found out we'll read Huckleberry Finn in class. I LOVE that book.
Okay, no more school for tonight.

Huh, What?
Nah, I think either MovableType is just going whacky right now, or my computer is. I'm voting for MovableType (then it would be Not my problem, heh).
Anyway...
Um, I forgot what I came here to say.
Nevermind.
Posted by Pischina at 10:24 PM
I really should be doing something useful
So... Didn't there used to be a little button on my MovableType screen to let me add a link? And bold and italic and stuff? Or is it my imagination?
Like you guys have ever seen my MovableType screen, haha. Anyway, I think something's missing here.

Ewwww, Stinky Poo Poos
Ya know, I'm just going to have to make this one day when the kids aren't around. And then serve it up to them unexpectedly.
With my luck Buffy will just dump the whole pan into the litter box, or the trash.
But I'm going to do it anyway.
Posted by Pischina at 10:16 PM
Did you think this would end any other way, Supervisor??
I am happy and proud to say that I pounded a few nails into Supervisor's coffin today myself. Had to. Can't let the opportunity pass, eh?
So Supervisor? You're screwed. Hope I get to be there when you clean out your desk.
See ya Monday!
Oh, one more thing... "Sucks to be YOU!"

What-the-fuck-ever.
It's bad enough that we have to live through another four years of Bush, but did BigBoss *have* to do a Happy Jig for me this morning, while singing "Happy Days are Here Again"???
Okay, so I was planning to do the exact same thing to him if Kerry won.
Whatever.
I really wasn't happy with Kerry anyway, I really wasn't happy with him at all. But he wasn't Bush. Another four years. Lovely. I suppose the country will finally be ready for change after that.
Right?
Posted by Pischina at 6:33 PM
I have nothing else to say
I was up pretty late last night so I was expecting to wake up this morning and hear the dreaded news that Bush had won.
I was certainly NOT expecting to hear they were still counting Ohio votes.
Whatever.
Kerry lost, Dudes.
But at least California did our part.

Update on Supervisor: Still missing
Update on Supervisor:
Still missing in action, though one phone call did come in from her stating she'll be in on Monday. So I cannot update you on the details of what's happened until after that now.
Someone told us Accounting Girls today "I feel sorry for you guys when she comes back."
"Don't feel sorry for us," I said, "Because someone's going to finally get what's been coming to them for quite some time."

No weeks of waiting, and a better ending please
Well it was four long years ago that I started my first blog. I tried to find archives of that first one but apparently they've gotten lost somewhere in the many changes I've made. The reason I remember the beginning so well is because I know the first posts I made were during election night during the Bush/Gore race. I almost started biting my nails again that evening.
Let's please have a different ending to this one.

Well I guess I can
Well I guess I can say this much:
I got to work this morning and saw her car wasn't there. As I was trying to not do my Happy Dance in front of BigBoss I innocently asked, "Our leader isn't here yet?"
"Your leader's right here Baybee," he said, "A real leader doesn't abandon her workers. As far as I'm concerned, she's abandoned her job."
GAWD, have I said what a dream come true this has been?
Posted by Pischina at 7:40 PM
Still not dead, but digging her own grave.
Well now I can't write about Supervisor until Wednesday because she didn't show today, and now is set to come back by Wednesday morning.
This has been quite an interesting ten days so far.
Who knew Supervisor would end up fucking her own self, and in such a dramatic way?
GAWD we're having a great time in Accounting right now.
From Mary, the CPA who told BigBoss that Supervisor is mean: "I don't know what that woman is so stressed about, you guys seem to do all her work."
Amen. We've all three been saying that for quite some time.
