Quick update

My extra credit quiz points were just added in for Oceanography and now I have an A-!!! WHOOOOO

I know, I'm boring.

Scott and I are going to a party tonight at a friend's house. Lots of good food and fun.

I have essays to write, of course. Including one on gay marriage - I'll try to keep my rants to a minimum, heh.

Already turned in my absentee voter ballot. Used the company postage meter to pay the postage - I'm sure my Republican boss will understand, heee.

And finally, how must it feel for a certain someone to return to work on Monday and find out she is the laughingstock of the company? I mean, even more than she was before.

Sorry Supervisor, but you nailed your own coffin with this one.

School pays off pretty quickly

OOH, also I went in to sign the almost-final papers for my student loan. $3500!!! I can get the poor little convertible fixed (it's been sitting in the driveway since February!) and get a washing machine and buy a couple new bras and pay off a couple bills. WHEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

And only 2.77% interest which the government will pay for as long as I am in school. OH yah, Baybee.

Posted by Pischina at 10:46 PM

Ding Dong the Witch... Well, not yet anyway

I wish I could talk about all the happy things that are going on at work this week, but I cannot, yet. Be assured that the Accounting Girls have been very very happy this week.

And who knew someone could file for Workman's Compensation over STRESS? Heck, if I'd known that I would have filed for it myself long ago. Especially if I knew I could get a week+ paid vacation out of it.

It never ends...

Two weeks til sign-ups for Spring Semester.

I'll be taking:

Review of Algebra (One evening a week)
Spanish I (Telecourse)
Survey of American Literature B (Online course)

Only 11 units, instead of the 12 I have now, and only 3 classes instead of the insane FOUR I have now. I should ace next semester.

History exam grade finally in:

History exam grade finally in:

83%

Yayyyyyy!!!!!!

God said a LOT of things, but we love to pick and choose...

A very excellent editorial on the bible and gay marriage.
From Nicholas D. Kristoff, in the New York Times.
You do have to sign up for an account with NYT to view it so I don't know if you'll be able to view the link, but they do have a privacy thing-a-ma-jig, and the article is really very good, so please just go get a user name and read the editorial all the way through.

Posted by Pischina at 7:36 AM

And then, and then, and then, and...

Whew! My 5-6 page essay for American Literature is almost finished with editing (mainly because I need to cut out at least 200 words, heh). Then I have one discussion post in Critical Thinking to put up by Saturday night, then ANOTHER 750 word essay on the STUPID PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES due Sunday night. Not that I'm bitter.

I also have several tapes of History and Oceanography to watch, I'm a bit behind but I also have to move a TV and the VCR into my room this weekend before I can watch the tapes (long story involving a blown circuit breaker in the living room). So hopefully I can get Spike to help me with that - but he will be gone most of the weekend.

Anyway. Hanging on by a thread. And yet STILL AT THE TOP OF MY CLASSES, NEENER. Hee.

Also, must read about 50 pages of Fast Food Nation, to prepare for my ten page research paper due next month.

Gah. Sometimes I think I should just stop thinking about what I have to do.

And I am sleepy and it's about 11pm so I am off to bed. Now. Come on Kitties, time to go Night-Night.

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz z z z z z ......

Posted by Pischina at 10:56 PM

Uh Buh-Bye

The only unsatisfying part about who got fired last night is we will never get to see her totally bomb while being Project Manager.

But that is okay, I will be happy just knowing I don't have to watch her smug little face anymore.

Posted by Pischina at 6:25 AM

Well, I guess I Like them a bit

Take the quiz: "Which Random Irish Gaelic Phrase Are You? "

Is maith liom bananai
Is maith liom bananai - 'I like bananas.'You're laid-back and you enjoy the simple things in life. Some might say you're a little too laid-back. Just what is it you're smoking, anyway?
Borrowed from Mocksie

Posted by Pischina at 8:56 PM

Misery! I want MISERY!

Ya know what I miss about Survivor? Seeing them miserable. Starving. Cold. Yeah, it's horrible, but isn't that what Survivor used to be about? Seeing them suffer? Watching the rain wash the rice away? Watching their shelter burn down? Seeing the bones portrude?

That's what we need. More hungry people.

Posted by Pischina at 8:36 PM

Afterall... NIC CAGE is in it

Oh also... National Treasure? Could be the most ridiculous movie EVER.
But you can bet your life I'll watch it when it comes out.

Posted by Pischina at 8:05 PM

Oh, is it 8pm on Thursday? I forgot

Is anyone else watching Survivor this season? Because I've missed several parts and some entire episodes and haven't really CARED. I mean, Ami is hot, and Eliza is hot if she'd just shut up, and Brady... well they, *sniff*, voted off Brady... but otherwise... WHO CARES??? These are the most boring bunch of Survivors EVER.

However, at 9pm is the best show ever: The Apprentice

Stupid Maria is immune tonight... but maybe we can get rid of that GAWDAWFUL STACY this time!!

Posted by Pischina at 8:02 PM

Wooooo! It's my birf-day, It's my birf-day...

No, it's not my birthday, but I just got my Abu Graib essay back...

90%!!!

A!!!!

Okay, off to drink wine and make dinner for Scott.

Posted by Pischina at 6:13 PM

Time for Rest

Okay, got my B in Oceanography (*relief*!) and just turned in my 750 word essay on the Presidential Debate (as usual I ran over and turned in over 1000 words), I think I left my American Lit book at work, I only have one discussion posting left for Critical Thinking, but now I think I deserve a nap and a viewing of Dangerous Beauty.

Also, my hair did turn out somewhat red, but I am happy. Mostly a dark brown with burgundy hints. It's fine. I like it.
:-)

Posted by Pischina at 2:03 PM

PLUS---

Also, I already have 8 extra credit points, which makes my grade an A, and I can get 7 more extra credit next week. A+ !!!!!

Posted by Pischina at 12:44 PM

WOWWWWWWW!!!!!!

Okay, grades are posted for Oceanography. Scroll down to student #05489. See that? 80%!!!! I got a B!!! But not only that, LOOK AT ALL THOSE F's!!!! I got the 3rd highest grade in the class!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I cannot tell you how happy I am!!!!!

Posted by Pischina at 12:39 PM

More cleaning products! Whoo!

After how long? Almost a year? I finally have a new vacuum and don't have to vacuum my entire 1500 sq foot house that's filled with long black cat hair with the VACUUM HOSE. Yes, our roller brush broke so so so long ago, and I've had to vacuum with just the HOSE since then. Needless to say, our house hasn't been getting vacuumed that often - it's a pain in the ass.
But today Target had a sale on the Dirt Devil Jaguar for $45!!! My old vacuum was a Hoover bagless, and while I liked the bagless part, I had lots of problems with the roller brush, and all the Hoover owners I know also have roller brush problems. A new roller brush costs almost $30. Dirt Devil had a bagless for only $10 more, but it required a filter that cost $25 to replace. Uh Uh. So the Dirt Devil WITH bag is what I got, and my house is finally cat hair free again.

I know you all were just dieing to know this.

*****

Also, I did well on my Oceanography exam. I don't think I got an A, but probably a B or C, which makes me happy. I should know by tonight.

November 8, mark it in your calendars or something

Oh yeah. I'm reminding ya'll that in less than 3 weeks I turn 38. So get ready to give out the Lovin's, kay? At least, I *think* I'm turning 38. I may be turning 39. I'm not sure. It does get hard to keep track after awhile, let me tell you.

Posted by Pischina at 10:45 PM

Very relieved, Very happy

I finally got my pictures back at Three65Pics. I had to re-sign up for a gold membership that had lapsed long ago, but I finally had some spare cash, enough to buy enough time to get them switched over to this server. So if you want to see a lot of pictures from July 2002 to... whenever I stopped, heh, go click the link and enjoy. The first two are just blank, my test entries to keep Andrew from deleting the whole thing. There is a little "archive" link on the bottom right of the picture square that you can use to navigate if you wish, or just keep hitting "previous". Pictures of the kids, the pets and the burned up house.

Now I have 30 days to transfer. I wanna thank Megs one more time for giving me this domain so that I can keep those pictures! LOVE you Meg, thank you SO much!

Update! and MORE not studying!

Hey - I even updated the diary today...

Have I put off studying enough? I think I need to go do that now.

Posted by Pischina at 9:32 PM

What's on your TV right now?

Okay, if you mean what's playing on my tv? That would be the Super Size me dvd - cuz you know we watch all our movies over and over.
If you mean what's on top of our tv, that would be the cases for Grand Theft Auto III, Final Fantasy X-2, Tony Hawk's Underground, "Chicago" and "Drop Dead Gorgeous". And Phoebe the Foofy Cat.

Now you play.

Posted by Pischina at 9:30 PM

Not studying yet

I went to Longs today and bought... a new Mop! And a new bucket with a mop squeezer thingie!! The great thing about new cleaning productes is that it's fairly easy to trick my kids into thinking these are great new toys! And they actually fall for it! Hopefully I get my kitchen floor mopped this weekend, Yayyyy!

Oh yeah, I also bought some new Clairol Natural Instincts in Cinnaberry. Now there are about five-seven different colors I have tried over the last ten years and some of them I love and some of them are very very red/orange. My problem is I cannot always remember which were which. Except for the purple one - I won't be forgetting that one again.

Anyway, hopefully tomorrow I will have actual "Medium Auburn Brown" hair at my Oceanography midterm, and not some new and improved version of Strawberry-Mango.

edit: Yeah, okay, there it is on the color chart under "reddish brown". Hopefully this turns out okay!

Movies Homework Movies Homework Movies... Not necessarily in that order

This is what we have from Netflix for this weekend:

Grind
Grease
Alias: Season 3: Disc 2
SuperSize Me!
Dangerous Beauty

We watched SuperSize Me! last night and the kids were mesmerized. Buffy has declared, again, that she is going to be not just a vegetarian, but a vegan. This should last, as usual, until the next time her dad takes her to McDonalds. But I'm happy that she at least thinks about and understands things.

Posted by Pischina at 6:36 PM

I just got back from

I just got back from my History Mid Term and I KNOW I got at least a B.

At LEAST a B!!!

I'm SO HAPPY!!!!

Saturday = Oceanography - I think I'll do well again, but we'll see!

Posted by Pischina at 9:04 PM

Just give me a BREAK already!

Okay, I managed to get through studying the debates with only a minor stomach ulcer. My favorite comment?

Bush: "Our health care system is the envy of the world!"

Uh... wha-? It is?

Anyone want to comment on this? Itsy? Canadians? Australians?

Posted by Pischina at 8:44 PM

Okay, today's 750 word essay

Okay, today's 750 word essay is called: Are computers necessary for student success?

That's an easy one.

But next week... NEXT WEEK.... *grumble*...

I have to write about Wednesday's presidential debates. That means I have to not only WATCH it, and TAKE NOTES, but also find the transcript, and then write about it.

Don't get me wrong, I have them on anyway, but I can only take so much of them. I turn them on in the background while I cook dinner. I don't stress if the sizzling chicken drowns out George Bush's stuttering. I don't even mind if I miss hearing Kerry completely sidestep a question that has an EASY ANSWER. I guess the biggest problem is that I am too wrapped up in my opinions about those two and also my hatred for one of them to ever write an unbiased essay. And I just hate debates so much - are they really of any use? Are presidents bound to abide by what they said in the debates? NO. It's just so much nonsense and it makes me crazy.

So anyway, I'm not looking forward to it. Heh.

And yeah, I really should just go study my history now.

Posted by Pischina at 9:36 AM

Lots and Lots of Junk - I mean lots of interesting information

Happy Sunday Morning!

That's right, I have not started my history studying yet, give me some time to drink some coffee first.

Okay, first off, go welcome Lanie back to Blog-Land and leave her a photo-posting comment.

Second, Miss Bonkrood has been posting again recently and I didn't even know it. That's what happens when you go to school full time AND work full time, you don't always notice the happenings on the computer, but as a fellow worker/student, I know Bonkrood understands. At any rate, she found The Friday Forums which are like the Friday Fives, but, you know, not. Any way, they have some pretty good questions, so I'm going to copy Bonky's last two postings and answer those. And then maybe everyone else will start answering them too.

Here we go:

1. What qualities in a friendship are most important to you?
They have to be able to laugh at themselves as much as they laugh at me. They have to think everything in this world is funny. They have to be somewhat dorky. And they have to have their own lives apart from me so they don't call me every day and need to see me every day, heh.

Who is your oldest friend [in terms of how long you've known the person]? Who is your newest friend? How did you meet both of them, and why do you get along so well?
Charleen. Friends since we were 14 (actually I was just 13) which was way back in... let me think... August 1980. And we have stayed friends exactly because she matches the answer to Question #1.

Have you ever met someone, become really close friends with them, and then drifted apart for some reason? How did it happen, and did you ever try to get back in touch with that person?
Ya know, I always make really good friends with my office mates. Like most outsiders assume we're Best! Friends! Forever! But as soon as they leave the company, I never see them again. Oh, it's not *their* fault - again, Question #1, I don't have time to spend outside of work to hang out with people.

Do you feel that men and women can be good friends? Why/why not? Do you have any close friends of the opposite sex?
Absolutely! Although... now that I think about it... My best male friends *used* to be boyfriends, heh... Jeff and Will are both very close, Ken at work I consider a very good friend. I have no problem making male friends.

Do you tend to make friends easily? Why/why not? Do you have many online friends? Which of your friends lives the closest to you?
Yes, I make friends easily. I just don't ever want to hang out with them. I suppose it's not really a matter of having time, it's a matter of I want to be alone and do my own thing. So, like with Charleen, we keep in touch with what's going on, we meet for special occasions like birthdays, Christmas, parties, but that's about it. I'm not a weekend going out kind of person. I'm not a shopper. I'm not social. Give me a book, my computer and my dvd player and I'm happy.
Plus, ya know what? I love spending time with my kids. Those two are probably my best friends.

Okay, and here's her next set of Questions:

1. Starting with your head down to your toes, what health/beauty products have you used/applied to your body so far today? [For example, shampoo, toothpaste, makeup, cologne/perfume, nail polish, etc.]?
Today? Um, today is Sunday. I rolled out of bed and sat in this chair. I washed my hands and put in my contacts, that's it. Yes, bad breath and all, don't get too close to your screen, heh.

2. Do you have a ritual when you take a shower, such as washing your hair first or maybe even brushing your teeth in the shower? If so, what? Do you prefer baths or showers, usually?
I get in the shower, wet my little wash scrunchie thingie with soap, wash from my neck down. Shave my legs if I'm doing that that morning. Wash my face with Oil of Olay soap. Wash my hair. Put a little conditioner in. Done. Like Bonkrood I dry off in the shower.
I take baths maybe once or twice a year.

3. How do you get yourself up and going in the mornings? Coffee? A hot shower? Breakfast? Would you consider yourself a morning person at all? When do you usually get up?
If it's a work day I go straight to the shower, then make coffee and sit at the computer while waiting. I am a morning person so I am wide awake by the time I get in the shower.
If it's the weekend I just make coffee and sit by the computer.

4. Do you normally eat breakfast? What do you usually have? Do you usually make it at home or go out for breakfast, or do you prefer not to eat breakfast?
On work days I make a bagel and take it with me. On weekends I don't usually eat breakfast unless I'm in Aptos, then it's off to the coffee shop for a coffee and bagel.

5. What does your alarm clock sound like? A buzzer, music, or something else? Do you ever set your clock fast so that you push yourself to get ready sooner? Are you usually on time, late, or somewhere in-between?
My alarm clock is set to a non-threatening easy rock station so I don't wake up with a headache. It's set pretty low because I wake up easily. I'll hit the snooze a couple times, but I get up pretty fast.

Plus... it co-stars a DUCK

Buffy took one look at Journey to the Center of the Earth and went right to bed.

Spike and his friend came home and sat down on the couch - I refused to turn it off so they sat down resigned.

Now all I hear behind me is "Shush Dude, I can't hear," "Oh that's totally COOL, did you SEE that?" "QUIET, I can't hear what he's saying!"

The movie was made in 1959 and uses very proper english - and looks nothing like a current teen would ever want to see. But these kids are just loving it.

Like I said, give it a try - you won't be sorry, really.

Next up: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea!

Posted by Pischina at 10:35 PM

A good movie weekend!

We got Journey to the Center of the Earth today from Netflix - I have not seen this movie in probably more than 20 years, I used to LOVE this movie. I cannot wait to make the kids see it! And seeing the preview just now, I actually am amazed at the special effects that were done before computers, before Star Wars (you kids don't realize the advances Star Wars made in effects), way back in the 50's. You youngsters really should see it, it's cheesy goodness at its best - you just can't get cheesier goodness than Pat Boone singing in what is basically a science fiction movie, hehe.

We also have:

Big Fish (because the kids never saw it)
Clueless (because Buffy loves it)
Benny & Joon (because we can't get tired of watching Johnny Depp or Aidan Quinn)
and Alias Season 3 Disc 1

Quiz yesterday, Quiz tomorrow

Okay, results are in.
6 out of 10 correct. Ew. But expected. I emailed the teacher asking for quiz answers to be posted so we can know what we did wrong.

Tomorrow, Oceanography. The class that worries me the most. But I just took a bunch of practice quizzes online and got an averge of 80%. Plus, learned from my wrong answers, heh.

So cross your fingers for me tomorrow! Or save them for next week when the real exams arrive!

Posted by Pischina at 9:37 PM

Quiz!

I got this over at Mocksie's and I totally agree with it:

Non-Spoiler The Apprentice Comment

Okay, you know those two who went to the boardroom and did NOT get fired?

I cannot WAIT. Cannot WAIT until the day those two are fired.

And Mr.Trump. Recognize a bunch of catty jealous bitches when you see them already.

Carolyn - Disappointed in you tonight.

Posted by Pischina at 9:57 PM

Oh Me Oh My

I just took my first quiz in History after a 2 hour review in class. I paid so much attention, then got my 10 question quiz and there wasn't one thing on it from the review.

WHAT was the purpose of this review????

So...

I don't know what I got. I could possibly have gotten an A. I could possibly have gotten a D. I'm hoping I got at least a C. I just need to pass this class, it's not that important, however I did not re-enroll in school to get bad grades.

I really like my online classes better, heh. Telecourses are very difficult with no classroom reinforcement or teacher contact for 6 weeks at a time.

****

So then I get home at 8:55pm (on Thursday! you know what that means!) and a circuit breaker has blown in the front room and entryway, which is where the TV with the antenna is. I unscrewed the antenna, ran to the family room where the Playstation TV is, yanked that 100 pound sucker out of the entertainment center and screwed in the antenna just in time to say Bye Bye to (Survivor Loser of the Week). Then, switch channels and -

WALAAH! The Apprentice!

So this Thursday at least will not be a total waste.

Posted by Pischina at 9:26 PM

Long paragraph on the VP debate - NOT! hehe... made ya look

I was so sick I had to come home from work. I waited and waited for the new trainee girl to come in so I could show her something to do while I was gone, but by noon she was still not to be found. I went home and crashed out on the bed.
Then the Alias Season 3 Disc 1 arrived from Netflix so I got up to watch the first episode, you know, the one where Sydney wakes up and tries to discover what happened to her the last 3 years. The interesting thing is some parts say she was gone 2 years, some say 3 years. This bothers me and someone should have caught that before. Sick people shouldn't have to sit there wondering what the heck is going on, was it 2 years or was it 3 years???
I am just typing the drugs off. I am so sick I may have to go to the doctor, because come on, we're going on at least 7 days of sickness now and today is the worst. Also, I think I have blood in my urine, but I'm not sure.

I know, I know, that's not good. If it keeps on keeping on I will call the doctor. Right now though I cannot think straight due to the fuzzy mind and the essay due at midnigh tonight.

It's time to go lay down again.

It's hard to write an essay about the Abu Ghraib prison photos when there are bunny rabbits hopping around outside your window.
I'm just saying.
Also, I still have a terrible cold, and it's clogging up my mind. This may be the most horrendous essay I have ever written. I fully expect to get a D. Bugger!

Sky Captain

Scott and I saw Sky Captain yesterday and we both loved it. I don't think it's for everyone, but if you grew up watching old black and white Buck Rogers, science fiction or spy movies on Saturday afternoons, or if you have an appreciation for how movies are made, you'll enjoy this movie. It is cheesy and corny, but it's meant to be.

Plus... Angelina Jolie. AND Jude Law.

"Alert Amphibious Squadron!"

You know a movie's gonna be good when Angelina gets to say a line like that, heh.

So go see it, and Have Fun watching it.

Posted by Pischina at 9:35 AM

I'm having a hard time

I'm having a hard time keeping up with my spammed comments, heh.

Also, still sick.

I keep planning to write stuff here, but then I get distracted by deleting all my spam comments, and then I start feeling yucky and go to bed.

I'm going to Aptos this weekend. Hopefully I'll feel okay to study. I think I have my first quiz next week in History and Oceanography, but they may not be until next week.

But I'm not feeling that great now, so off I go.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
