Friday Five
Friday Five ala Reality
1. What kind of car do you drive? A 1994 white Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. And I have a white 1990 Chrysler LeBaron convertible sitting in the driveway hoping the car fairy will come fix it.
2. What kind of car do you wish you drove? A new convertible that works a bit better. I'm not really picky on what kind, heh.
3. What's in your car? Oh, lots. Soooooo many books, bills, puzzles, coffee mugs, my winter jacket.
4. What are you doing this weekend? Going to Aptos! We're going to work around the house, watch The Cooler on dvd, eat good food, sit in the hot tub, I'm hoping to go to downtown Santa Cruz, and just Relax.
5. Do you have vacation plans this summer? Whatcha up to? The swim meets will start in a couple weeks, so there's always that. Otherwise no plans. Lots of beach trips, I'm sure.

Almost Friday
So it finally cooled off here, and tomorrow I am off to Aptos. I can't wait.
Also, I finally did my New York City Ballet workout tape, I liked it. Just like ballet class old times, heh. It's not going to help a whole lot, but it is good for a start. This weekend I'm planning to run, and I'm taking my Tae Bo tapes too.
I've lost two pounds.
33 more to go!

American Idol
Well, almost no one was up to singing Gloria Estefan, just as I expected. Even Fantasia couldn't pull it off - though LaToya sounded good, I did like George (he just picked a bad song), and I actually thought Diana was Wonderful.
I just giggled through John Stevens, and hid my face behind a book every time Scott glared at me for making him watch it, haha.
JS was rightfully voted out. But such a great guy, everyone seems to love him, it was a great GoodBye Tape they played, he did suffer through everything with class. Face it, he didn't ask to stay this long, and I don't think he wanted to be here, it was *obvious* he knew he didn't belong. Anyway, he seems like a really nice guy and I wish him well.
Plus his goodbye song was just about his best singing ever, heh.

ugh.
It has been about 94 all week and we are unable to move or even communicate by computer.
Actually, the computer is so hot it just asked me for a margarita.
I refused to give him one. But I have some Yellowtail Shiraz in the fridge and I'm going to open it right now.
Scott is at air-conditioned StarBucks, he'll be here soon.
I'll need to put a bowl of ice cubes next to the bed, heee.

Um, Hello, Neighbor?
It's 11pm on a Sunday Night. I just decided to turn off the computer and go to bed.
Why do you think NOW is a good time to turn your stereo up to HouseParty Volume??

Movies
Along with a baptism, a new church and a whole lot of yardwork, we watched a whole lot of movies this weekend.
Kill Bill Vol.1
This movie kicks so much ass. By far better than Vol.2 (but you still need to see Vol.2), I can't wait until they're both released on disc together. I've now seen it 7 times.
Slackers
I gave it 3.5 stars out of 5. Some of it was dumb teen humor, but I was really laughing at some parts. It was pretty good.
School of Rock
I didn't really enjoy most of this movie, it was cute but nothing special. But I TOTALLY loved the concert at the end, and that scene itself pushed it up to 4 stars.
Win a Date With Tad Hamilton
This movie was okay. Buffy agrees it was okay. We liked it, we laughed, it ended well, and Topher Grace was GREAT. But when it finished we wrapped it up and sent it back.
The Next Best Thing
GOOD GAWD, Madonna IS a bad actress, isn't she! I always thought the press wasn't giving her any credit (afterall, when I saw Who's That Girl when I was 17 I thought she was a GREAT actress, heheh) but she hadn't said three lines in this movie before I was making faces. Horrible actress, horrible plot, Horrible part she played. I mean, wow, how could you have any sympathy for that woman after what she did? I just thought the whole thing was Terrible.
Very Bad Things
I LOVE THIS MOVIE! One of my very very favorites, if you don't mind a lot of death and gore and craziness, then you MUST see this movie. Five Stars, hands down.
I can't believe I saw six movies this weekend (and Kill Bill 2-3 times) and still had time to do everything else. The only thing I didn't accomplish was fixing the toilet.
Oh well, I guess I can let Scott fix it, heh.

Friday Five (archive)
Mocksie's choice:
1. What did you want to be when you grew up? A musician or a writer.
2. Do you have any nicknames? Just the common nickname for my real name, and also "Myrtle" for awhile. In a moment of stupidity one day at 14 I refused to tell some friends my middle name, and since they knew it started with M they decided it was Myrtle.
3. If you could change something about yourself what would it be? Ya know, I kind of like myself. But I wish I could lose some weight. I wish I had TIME to lose this weight, actually.
4. Have you ever bought anything from an infomercial? I bought a dog training course on tape for like $50. I used the first tape, but our dog was borderline retarded and I never put much effort into it.
5. How do you plan to spend your weekend? At 2pm we're going to the baptism of Corina's baby, a big party at a ranch in Morgan Hill with lots of homemade mexican food. Tomorrow we're going to church for a special thingie going on, otherwise it's movies, yard work and relaxing.

Our Mailman hates us
I forgot to tell you about this. I was waiting for the arrival from Netflix of Alias: Season One: Disc 3 but it never arrived. Then I got this email from Netflix:
"We recently sent you Alias: Season 1: Disc 3 (2001), but it was returned by the post office. The post office provided the following explanation:
Addressee Unknown: Item(s) addressee is unknown at the address"
Spike thinks our mailman hates us, as our comic subscription is REGULARLY sent back for "postage due" EVEN THOUGH THERE'S PRIORITY MAIL POSTAGE on it!!! That went on for 8 months until our Comic SalesGuy called my PostMaster and threatened to call the Post Master General and report them.
They apologized profusely and swore it would never happen again.
What's funny is I continue to get mail for the LAST 3 FAMILIES who've lived in this house, and we've lived here almost 18 months.

Kill Bill Vol.1 and Vol.2
After watching Volume 1 again I have even more problems with Volume 2 and would love to hear from anyone else who's seen both. The tone of the two movies is completely different, the themes are different (violence & swordplay vs. talking) and the characters even act different.
And why isn't she crossing off names in her notebook in Volume 2?
And where is Sophie? Such an important character in Volume 1 and the lead-out into volume 2 but she's never mentioned in the second movie and is not pictured arriving at the church, though she is shown inside during Vol.1.
The first movie had background info on the two people she killed, but there is nothing about Budd and Elle in Vol.2.
The two movies are just insanely different. I still like Vol.2 because it is a Tarantino movie and I love them all, but I just don't think Vol.2 was done as well.
Or maybe I'm just picky.

Survivor
Well there went my big Survivor hopeful.
As for Shii Ann, she annoys me just for her Blah Factor, but tonight she lost all blahness. She had every right to be a snot. I hope she sticks around to see at least one more person leave.
I guess my hope now is for Rupert to win. He may be a big fool, but he is a loveable guy with not a bad bone in him.
On the other hand... Evil Amber... Playing Rob... I would SO love to see her screw him in the end.
And by "screw" I mean, well, you know.

It's funny, because I wouldn't put it past Sam to offer Trump $250,000 for a job, but I also wouldn't put it past Sam to have a thriving counterfeit operation in his basement, powered by hamsters on wheels. And the hamsters would survive on a new kind of protein pellet that Sam invented himself.

So the show is being run by 9-12 year olds this year, eh?
I couldn't stand Jennifer, but for her, LaToya AND Fantasia to be sitting opposite Jasmine, John and Diana...
That's just stupid.

Hand Stands
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention it in the diary update, but I've been doing handstands.
Not balanced, but with my feet leaning against the wall, I saw this pose in one of Scott's yoga magazines and thought "I can do that!" so I tried it and I can.
I even did it at work, at lunch. I usually sit at a computer and play solitaire when I'm bored at lunch, so every time I won I did my handstand for a slow count of 30.
I liked it. And my arms and shoulders are a little sore, so I know it's doing good.
Go ahead try it! Put your hands on the ground and walk your feet up the wall. Then hold it.
Okay, I'm going to bed now.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 !!!!!
I saw Kill Bill Vol.2. I didn't like it as much as #1, but I still liked it. Not as much blood. In fact, for every gallon of blood missing it added 10 minutes of talking. Way a lot of talking. I'm not sure I could sit through it again. But still, Good. Go see it.

Our favorite phrase we kept shouting last night:
"Shut up, Omarosa!!!"
Heh...
Crazy Sam... Donald took the money! HAH!!! I hope he does bring Sam back next season, I loved watching him.
But no, Donald, No. I know there are people we love to hate on Reality TV, but I don't think I can take any more Omarosa. And why reward her for her behavior? DO NOT BRING HER BACK.

And now I am off to Aptos and...
I GET TO WATCH KILL BILL II SATURDAY!!!! HURRAY!!!!

I could not see that American Idol was on anywhere here on the West Coast, so I have no idea who left! Who was bottom three and who left???
Also - The Apprentice - WHOOOO! That was GREAT. Of course, we liked them both so it didn't matter who won. I'm happy for both of them.

Who'd Billy Jo Bob give money to?
From Kim's site I found this, you can see who your neighbors supported in the presidential campaign. I'm not even sure I like that you can find this out...
I was quite surprised to see that most of my neighbors supported Howard Dean, and a lot of Gephardt too. I put in Scott's address and it was all Kucinich-Kucinich-Kucinich, heh. But that's Santa Cruz for you.

American Idol
"Hi, I'm Jon Peter Lewis and I can't sing, so I found a song I can dance to that only requires me to yell the same three notes over and over! How are you?"
Actually, I did enjoy his performance tonight. But other nights? No.
Fantasia gave me chills. From the very beginning, through to the end. Gosh darnit now SHE'S my favorite to win!
Diana - Big mistake with that song, Bye Bye to you!
John Stevens - I'm glad he got his moment to shine, I don't think he'll last much longer, but I'm glad he got this performance in before he leaves.
And Quentin Tarantino went up there and showed himself to be the biggest dork EVER. Wow.
(Buffy: "HE wrote Kill Bill? Are you sure??")

Subservient Chicken
Kim says she had him pray, so we told him to pray two different times. First time he got on his knees and crossed himself, prayed, then crossed himself again. The second time he got on his knees and pressed his face to the floor. We had him do yoga, lay an egg, fall down (VERY funny), and then told him to do kung fu. He seemed to love the kung fu, he went on forever. We always tell him he's a good chicken and he seems very happy.
Oh, but then I told him to get me a beer, and he came up way close to the camera and ya know what? That is one SCARY chicken!

We had him do jumping jacks, the moonwalk, and dance like Elvis.

Easter Quiz
I'm making my own Easter Quiz. You all fill it out and tell me if you did.
1. Do you go to church on Easter? Usually, yes. Today we were too tired from yesterday and I'm still not feeling great, so we voted to stay home and relax.
2. Did you parents always get you a basket? Until what age? I think my parents got me a basket until I moved out, when I was 21. I told Buffy yesterday that she'll continue to get one as long as she lives here.
3. Do you color eggs? How many this year? Yes, we ALWAYS color them. I get 12-18 eggs for each kid, and 2 different coloring boxes. We love boiled eggs and egg sandwiches, so no eggs go to waste.
4. Do you have Easter Egg hunts still? Yep, the kids LOVE hunts. I give the the plastic eggs and they spend all morning hiding them for each other. Sometimes we put our extra change inside them for a bonus.
5. Easter Grass: Fun or Evil? EVIL. We NEVER have grass in our baskets.
6. Jelly Beans: Yummy or A Waste of Basket Space? WASTE. When I was a kid jelly beans would just piss me off. They could have been malted milk balls! M&Ms!! Anything but jelly beans!!! They were like the price you had to pay to get your basket.
7. Peeps: Your Favorite or Gross & Disgusting? I hate peeps. Totally. My kids love them though.
8. Cadbury Eggs: Your Favorite or Gross & Disgusting? FAVORITE. All that sugar now hurts my teeth though.
9. Do you get new clothes to wear on Easter? Sometimes, yes. Sometimes the money issue prevents us, but we always dress nice.
10. What are you having for dinner tonight? My mom is making LASAGNA!!!
Bonus Post an Easter Picture if you are able.

Thursday Night TV
While we're on the Thursday Night HATE (Someone please tell me Omarosa was putting on an ACT last night and is really not, as a grown woman, THAT irresponsible, delusional, psychotic and a complete BITCH as she made herself look????),
anyway,
I really really wish the Survivors would vote Big Tom off my TV screen forever. That man annoys the crap out of me, if I knew him in real life I'd never go near him, he gives me the heeby-jeebies.
But besides that, I still really don't care who wins. If I had to vote I'd place it on Alicia.
Probably because she annoys me the least.

Friday Five
1. What do you do for a living? I do Accounts Receivable, liening houses and ruining credit reports across California. And I love my job.
2. What do you like most about your job? That I'm appreciated there, I LOVE the people in my own office, my bosses treat me like family, Scott works there so I get to see him every morning.
3. What do you like least about your job? When really stupid people call and yell at me for FOREVER about not owing any money when they know damn well they owe money.
4. When you have a bad day at work it's usually because _____... Some idiot has kept me on the phone for a very long time yelling in my ear - I can't really hang up on them unless they start cursing at me, but on days when I'm irritated I have been known to be something of a bitch.
Don't get me wrong, if you don't have any money then you don't have any money - *I* understand that. If you call and try to work something out with me I am the nicest collection officer in the world (and I know, I've talked with a lot of them myself). But don't treat me like shit or lie to me or make shit up or act like *I'm* the stupid one, because I WILL put a lien on your house and file foreclosure on your ass, don't think I won't.
5. What other career(s) are you interested in? Personal trainer for kids, or a leading a group thing for kids, organizing running clubs for kids.

I woke up this morning and this cold has finally broke. Still have sniffles but I feel SO much better.
Buffy cut her stitches out of her thumb all by herself yesterday. It was really gross. But she just clipped and pulled, clipped and pulled. Nine times. The tenth one is a problem, there's not much there to cut. But we have to get it out today cuz her thumb is healing right up.
Yeah, we'll probably take another picture, heh.

American Idol
I'm off to work with my sniffly nose but I just want to make one comment about American Idol last night:
I want George Huff to win.
I just love that guy. He can sing, I would buy his album, he smiles, he looks happy, and he has Personality.
I love Fantasia too, and I think LaToya sings beautifully, and Jennifer Hudson can sing when she wants too, but when you look for a whole package? I want George.
Now I am off to work.

And I just want to
And I just want to say that after I get paid and we have normal amounts of money again, I am paying my son and/or his friends to dig up two different areas of our yard that need digging and we are going to plant flowers or vegetables or sunflowers or whatever, and it's going to look nice.
Also on the list for payday:
1. We need a new blad for the lawnmower, and you can tell by driving by my house.
2. I need a new brush/sweeper thing for my vacuum as ours is broken and I'm tired of vacuuming this big house with just the hose.
After payday our house is going to look nice again, really.

Week in Progress:
I'm still sick, it's just a cold so it's not so bad, just bad enough to be miserable, not bad enough to stay off work.
Paid rent five days late thanks to late child support payment, still no medical bill payment from the Ex so Scott gave us $50 to get some food. Thanks, Ex-husband, your kids enjoy rationing out their food.
Buffy had a school play tonight, she told me she didn't want me to go because "it isn't any good" but it turns out the tickets cost money and she didn't want me to pay for them.
She has her Spring Concert tomorrow night (she plays saxophone) which I'm dreading - they are so loooooong and borrrrring, and she only plays for part of it. I will pay attention to her, then bring a book for the rest.
We are looking forward to the 15th, when I get paid again, and even though I pay all the bills with that check, there is always some left over for food and since I did finally catch up with all our bills last month we should have some left over for play too. And the kid's yearbooks, hopefully. And to keep on hand for the Ex-Husband's next trick.
He's "consulting an attorney" Thursday to see if he has to abide by our marital agreement and I think he wants his child support lowered too. I'm hoping I'm right and the lawyer charges him big bucks just to tell him he's an asshole, but I'm not holding my breath.
I'm kind of worn out this week.

Catherine (from my Comments) is
Catherine (from my Comments) is a pretty smart cookie. We got insurance and $$ all in the same argument in the middle of open house at Buffy's school where I almost started (well, *did* start, but didn't continue) to yell at the Ex about all that.
I got half my child support, which means I can't pay rent and we can't buy food.
And he doesn't know when he can pay half Buffy's medical expense. Well I didn't know how I was going to pay for it either, but when her thumb was pouring blood out of it I decided her thumb was more important than PG&E, phone, gas, whatever. I found the funds. I suppose he would have let her bleed to death.
And then stupid shithead told me he still isn't going to get them insurance, because even though I have the signed divorce papers stating he must insure them, he says "it's the law" that *I* must insure them.
!!!
That's the logic I went through while married to him.
So I am short $500 from child support, AND out all the medical expenses, AND the kids still do not have medical insurance AND Buffy's tooth hurts.
I told them to eat well at dad's house this weekend because I don't know how I'm going to feed them when they get back.
The truth is we'll figure something out. We will.
