Good Omens

Shanni gave me the book Good Omens for my birthday, I just finished it today.
I LOVED it, SO funny!
I had to rush to finish it because I'd told Scott how wonderful it was so many times that he couldn't wait to read it too.
If anyone's looking for a good book to read, I definitely recommend it.

My newest future Goal:
Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk
I've always wanted to do this, but never hear about it until a week before.
This one is in October - and gives everyone plenty of chance to join.
It would be great to have a Diaryland group walking together.
I have my entry form now, and plenty of time to plan for it!

NOT running

I never should have put these comfy sweats on before leaving Scott's house.
They are a psychological symbol to my brain that says "Time for bed!"
I have had not one iota of interest in running since I put them on.
Skipped the 5 miler today.
Not good.
Was going to do a speed run instead.
Not looking likely.
Today I am a bum.
I am disappointed in myself, but I still have no intention of going outside.

Asparagus

Okay, forgot to mention the asparagus thing.
I ended up steaming it for 5 minutes, put it in a pan with lots of butter and a little garlic, and when we got to my mom's house she sprinkled lemon on it. My mom was really excited I brought asparagus. Everyone had some and insisted to me that it was fine.
I promised Mocksie I would try some myself, but... I couldn't. When I was cooking it it smelled just like broccoli and I. Hate. Broccoli.
So I didn't try it. But I did make it. And I wanted to thank everyone for their input. My kids love it and it was cheap, so I may try some more of your recipes in the future, if it means getting some vegetables into them, haha.

I'm reading the Survivor Boards this morning and it is just cracking me up that people are So! Outraged!! about "Jon's Lie". Come on Guys, it is a Game, and it's a game that Richard Hatch taught us a lot of lessons with.
OF COURSE what Jon did was morally reprehensible.
Is it more reprehensible than Sandra letting Christa take the fall for the fish?
Is it more reprehensible than Lill lieing to Rupert's face about voting him out?
I think not.
And besides, now when the kids and I have our Survivor Party it will be the Best! Ever! when we watch Sandra kick Jon's ass all the way back to Panama.
Of course, Sandra's going to get her own ass kicked when Christa gets hold of her.
Personally I would be MUCH MORE offended and angry to find out a friend let me take the blame for throwing out fish.
So yeah, I thought it was hilarious last night. You can hate me for that all you want, you can threaten to take your votes elsewhere, but that doesn't change the fact that last night was the best Survivor EVER.

I found this really great recipe for white chocolate fudge with cranberries in it,
Personally I love chocolate, the darker the better,
But this one just sounds so unusual I have to make it.

Phone Calls

So I was driving home today and traffic was slooooooooow because of too many accidents, so I decided to call Megs and wish her Happy Thanksgiving but she didn't answer so I left her a very long message.
Then I called Mocksie and she didn't answer either so I left her a message.
So then I called Itsy and her Boy picked up and I said, "Hello is..." (Itsy, no..., Itsy Itsy Itsy... what's her name.... Shannon!) "Shannon available?" And he put her on the phone.
"Hi it's Pischina!"
"You Silly, you called during Survivor!"

Then I realized everyone whose phone number I have is on the East Coast and I didn't want to interrupt any more Survivors, so I just drove home.

Aching to run again

I had such an easy time running today, I wish I could have had more time. I know I could have done 5 or more miles. I can't wait to go back to the gym - I love running the streets outside, but seeing the exact mileage on the treadmill is very satisfying.
On the other hand, running in Aptos was the very best of all, and I get to do that Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Hurray!

Today I dropped off my two kids and one of Buffy's friends at the mall. I gave my kids $40 to do their Christmas Shopping, and $20 more to buy them all lunch.
I picked them up 90 minutes later (I was at the gym across the street) and asked them if they ate yet.
No. They didn't have enough money.
Their long, drawn out story was that they asked "the lady" how much the gift for me was, she told them, so they told her they'd get it, and gave it to her to personalize it, however when they went to ring up the sale, suddenly it was so much more.
Like, all their money more.
And there was no refunds, due to the personalization.
So I'm getting a Christmas Present from my kids that cost $60.

And then I looked up at the TV screen and thought:

Huh... that looks a LOT like my high school.
Like... exACTLY like... I think..."
And then I glimpsed the football jerseys,
SILVER CREEK RAIDERS.

Yup, it's my high school, just down the street.
So if you see that show, know that I not only spent four years of my life on that very field and pass it on my way to work every day, but every shot out of the high school is my neighborhood area, AND I'm 99% certain my ex-mother-in-law knows that girl's mother. The mother AND Cynthia look way too familiar.

Saturday went to the gym and ran 2 miles in 25 minutes (the treadmill has you walk the first 2 minutes)
Then lifted weights for about 45 minutes.

Sunday I told Scott I wanted to run instead of going to kung-fu,
So I ran up and down Freedom Boulevard
A BEAUTIFUL road through the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Three miles in 35 minutes, plus quite a bit of hiking up and down the hill Scott lives on.
Then I joined the kung-fu class in time to practice my tai chi and ended with 20 minutes of kung-fu stances (not not not an easy thing).

I am absolutely proud of myself.

I got up at 5am, was out the door by 5:15, and ran 2.4 miles.
I wanted to run 3 or 4, but hey, it was 5am.

However, my computer is still not working right and I still can't get into my email.
It either won't bring up any internet screen at all or won't bring up a certain page I want to see,
like Blogger, email, etc.
And these little black pop ups saying "Killing dlldate" or something like that keep popping up.
I need some virus protection NOW, heh.

My computer is being the biggest bugger EVER and I'm sure it has something to do with there being NO VIRUS CONTROL on it - I think that may be our one splurge this paycheck or I may never be able to log on again. As it is, I cannot access my email at the moment. This is really sucking.

We went with Scott to Pasta Pomodoro for dinner and had chicken parmagiana and chianti and chocolate souffle.
It was yummy.

We were watching Olinda

We were watching Olinda on Joe Millionaire last night and I told Spike he needed to come watch and study the girls on this show.
"Olinda is a prime example of your buddy getting married to a complete shrew and everyone knows it but him until the day after the wedding," I told him.
"What's wrong with Olinda?" he asked, "She's nice."
"ARE YOU NOT WATCHING THIS SHOW??? PAY ATTENTION BOY!"
When she got kicked off at the end of the show Buffy and I cheered so hard we scared the cat.

But walked the last .4 miles due to a case of the runs,
Causing me to stop every so often to clench the butt cheeks shut.
Then I finally get home and run to the house so I can get to the bathroom quick
And Buffy has LOCKED the door - ALL THREE LOCKS.
I'm pounding on the door,
"Let me IN! Let me IN!"
And Buffy calmly walks over and says
"Who iiiiiis it?"
"It's MOM and I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM OPEN UP THE DOOR!!!!"
I'm sure the neighbors really wanted to know that.

Played the Sims.
Ran 1.6 miles.

Buffy just put Jay

Buffy just put Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back in the dvd player and her little friend called.
Buffy said she didn't want to go play cuz she was going to watch a movie,
Her friend asked if she could watch it too.
"Sorry, this movie isn't appropriate for you."

Went to BlockBuster and stood in line with our last $4 to rent Italian Job and a clerk there decided to play movie trivia with us for a free packet of microwave popcorn.
"Name a Guy Ritchie movie!" he yelled as everyone looked at him dully.
"SNATCH" I yelled.
He threw me the popcorn as everyone else in line muttered "Who the hell is Guy Ritchie?"
I win.

Went to the *Real* gym and ran for 10 minutes warm up, then worked the weight machines for an hour.

I ran 2.4 miles in about 1/2 hour and I feel GREAT.
Also, Sunday we did a lot of yoga stretches during kung fu
And today my poor widdle tummy feels OWWIEEEEEEE.

More like my parents never got cable - like to this day they still don't have cable.
So no, I never got my MTV! *sniff*
(Okay, I have it NOW, but it's not like they play MUSIC now)
